I smell manure or Ai !0

Haven’t got a clue who he is, but from what I’ve seen he’s not well liked and it looks like it’s led to a lot of negative support with lots of neutrals saying they hope we lose now. It’s one video so don’t really care either way, but it’s not nice to see the club get dragged, seems like a bit of an own goal4

He's basically another Thogden/Goldbridge type.
Was a QPR fan but switched to Arsenal for social media purposes. He's now sitting there in a Charlton shirt, delivering a promo, despite being a fan of two other London clubs.
It's just shameless behaviour.
But the majority of the fanbase beyond an age demographic, am sure wont have a clue who he even is
If your whole reply section of over 200 or so comments is negativity, and the tweet has over 100 quotes of negativity, the chances are, you've probably made a mistake as a club.
These things do matter, as you're meant to be proud supporting your club, and should care what the main pages push on social media.
Goldbridge was bad, Wrexham was worse, this is a different level.
It would be different if a club like Sheffield United paid Sean Bean to deliver a promo, there's a connection there and he's a great speaker.
Our club has presumably used actual cash to get someone who doesn't support Charlton to deliver a promo, that actively supports another London club.
Fair enough people on here won't care, but there are clearly a large amount of people who do care how our club represents itself.
Stuff like this makes it clear to me whoever makes these decisions doesn't understand the mindset of your general football fans.
Maybe supporting Charlton is beneath you, if they embarrass you so easily?
From my perspective I'm embarrassed about that video, just like I was all the other antics, if you're not, that's fine.
I can't understand why you wouldn't have an issue with them paying a QPR/Arsenal/whatever other team he will decide to support representing us, but again, that's your view on things.
Not even sure how to reply to the last bit tbh.
I just want my club to be normal and read the room, not much to ask for. We don't need Goldbridge, we don't need half and half scarves and we don't need Arsenal fans speaking on our behalf.
A person I admire like Chris Powell, Curbs, etc would have been just fine and had a better impact on our fanbase.
So maybe that'll require using the likes of this fella / Goldbridge to appeal to those who arent already fans - As unless you've been a long term fan of Charlton already, you're not going to know who Curbs / Powell are, and what their connection to the club is either?
My point was more, about how easily things like this embarrass you, more so than posts from people who claim to be "fans" saying they'd rather see us lose, or out of the Play-Offs entirely... Because at the end of the day... Its a f**king video!!... OTT reactions like that are the embarrassment, I mean its the sort of reaction from someone in the school playground... Maybe I've just grown up too much!!
Maybe I did take your post a bit personally, but then you need to choose your choice of words a bit better: "These things do matter, as you're meant to be proud supporting your club, and should care what the main pages push on social media." - I took that as you talking to me
I can tell you now that the younger fans you may think this will attract, will only be annoyed by this. A lot of the people on social media I'm seeing between the ages of 17-25 are embarrassed by this stunt. Those are our future. Was this worth alienating our younger fans?
I can tell you now younger fans do know who the likes of Curbs are and Powell. Just how I know who the likes of Hales, Bartram, Seed etc are.
It's not just a video. It's the club I am very passionate about, and I'll be blunt, dictates a large chunk of my life, shamelessly slutting itself out on social media. It's either purposely done it to drive negative engagement and traction, which is not something I want my club to be doing, or it's completely misunderstood our fanbase which is an own goal in itself.
I'll make the last paragraph more clear just so there is no confusion. I am of the view, that you should take pride in what this club does on the pitch, and off it. Us pulling cheap publicity stunts like bringing in a Man United fan for VIP treatment, selling half and half scarves, and using an Arsenal fan for a promo genuinely embarrasses me, and makes me feel alienated from my club.
I am of the view, if these things don't bother you, then we are very different types of Charlton fan, which is absolutely fine. I want to see my club perform on the pitch, and be the golden standard off it, these cheap stunts won't bring in a generation of new fans, and I doubt they'll generate much revenue either.
You say these videos don't matter, and it's all publicity etc. Would you be happy if we started warming towards Millwall on social media for a bit of money, how much would you be willing to watch the club do to generate some revenue?
I value authenticity extremely highly, and these publicity stunts have pissed me off. If they haven't bothered someone as much as they have me, then fair enough, different mentalities and different outlooks.9 -

It would have definitely cost in the thousands, Mark Goldbridge probably more. Do you honestly believe these stunts have dawned a new era of Charlton fans?

Came on here to mention how much I am all over the place about tomorrow. Nervous as a kitten. Can’t bring myself to watch whatever this video is right now, but at the end of the day everyone’s club embarrasses them with a bit of soppy marketing. Sod ‘em, we are the heart of Charlton. COYR!14

Back to the game, I'm pretty confident. Get an early goal and I can see Wycombe rapidly losing confidence.
Since January our points total is much better than Wycombe's, we have to approach the game in that mindset.7 -
I just hope it gets settled fairly based on which side earns the win, no dumb refereeing decisions or unjustified sendings off. The refereeing in the Orient vs Stockport game is a reminder of the kind of BS thing that happen to heavily influence a result and that is totally out of your control.6

Just ignore X / Twitter / Tik Tok / Instagram. As far as I'm concerned they exist in some other dimension to my life and the real world.
The only way they can upset me is when someone stains this site with a link to that evil dimension.8 -
Was that video another Bazzballers “commission”?2

If we keep a clean sheet 1-0, concede 2-10

I‘m trying my hardest to give a shit about the social media post but I’m coming up empty handed.
Life is great when you stop caring what other people on the internet think about you, your interests and/or your football club.24 -
Would of rather seen Christophe Lepoint talking about his wonderful time at Charlton. But life goes on.
GAME DAY.... got the Sunday scaries already.2 -
GAME DAY!!!!
Come on you reds!!4 -
Whether we like it or not, social media is now the main shop window for the club — it’s how we project our identity, attract new fans, and keep the wider football world tuned in. So yes, what goes out does matter. I don’t have an X (Twitter) account myself, but that doesn’t mean I want to see utter tripe being served up on the club’s official channels. As Brazilance quite rightly said, we want to be seen as “Gold Standard” off the pitch — sadly, the recent ticket chaos and that bizarre promo video felt more “Poundland and Popcorn.”
Having worked in sport-related marketing and promotions, I’m genuinely baffled how this stuff even sees daylight. Who wrote that script? Who thought, “Yes, that’s the tone we’re going for”? And who nodded along in the final edit like it was a Cannes-worthy masterpiece?
If Charlton are serious about stepping up — both on and off the pitch — the senior management team (SMT) need to ask a few hard questions. Working for our national broadcaster on major events, I can tell you: this wouldn’t have made it past the intern’s inbox. We're not asking for Spielberg, just something that doesn’t make the club look like it’s being run by a committee of Muppets (and not the good ones from the balcony!).
Let’s aim higher — because our fans deserve better, and the club’s legacy certainly does. At the very least, let's avoid becoming the next viral sensation for all the wrong reasons.

So If Berry isn't deemed fit, then who replaces him.I'm really not convinced Anderson or Gilbert are a direct replacement for him.Don't laugh, but Ahadme?0

I think the early goal is key. If we can race out the traps and slot one in early their confidence with crumble.1 - Sponsored links:

Sun’s shining, just off to golf, will help me take my mind off this afternoon.Hate the fact not one home team has won their play off game yet…6

That home form in the playoffs continues today mate.1

Never mind all this. Let's get to the game and support the boys from start to finish and hopefully we will get a result. COYRs2

I'm not getting any of this nervousness. We are the better team: We finished higher than them in the league, we had a better second half to the season and a better run-in. We also did better in the head to heads, both against Wycombe and against the other play off teams. There's no reason why we can't get a good result today, but regardless of that, we'll still have a home fixture to play that is likely to suit us even better. Have a great day everyone and go into this with confidence, because we've every right to.10

I've got a horrible feeling all this build up is going to bite us on the arse. I'd love to be wrong, but the second video felt like overkill after the Docherty one, and it's making me twitchy.10

🎵 Woke up this morning feeling sick…. 🎵29

Am oddly calm at the moment, especially compared to the League games towards the end of the season.
It'll probably change close to KO, but at the moment I've got a "What will be, will be" mindset.
If we don't win promotion, then we just go again next year, as feels like on the pitch we're potentially moving in the right direction.14
