Youll bring your boy up not believing his team invented football and actually were the first domestic team to win the world cup

Thats if he doesn't end up supporting West Ham..... Because everyone on here knows West ham did invent football and won Englands only ever world cup...... Beats me why there aint more west ham players in the England team. We all know what happens when there is.

I think you'll find Unc , it was Charlton who won the World Cup , it might have been Bobby & Jack , but it was still Charlton.

Not sure we can put the 2 baldy's in the same class as Mr Moore and co. Having said that Bobby was some player, even though he's always looked 70. His brother is not in the same league.

Bobby Charlton was a legend and about time for another baldy to be the pillar of the England team.

This could prove a really good move for Shelvey. Looks like he will be Swansea's main central mid fielder. He won't need to chase the ball like he sometimes seemed to have to at Liverpool just to get in the game. The back four look for him whenever they are looking to play out of defence. He is looking a bit like Alex Song in his pomp at Arsenal.

Got the lad in my telegraph fantasy side. Bargain at 2.7m, considering he should start the majority of Swansea's League games this season

Leon Britton is carrying the piano and Jonjo is playing it. Excellent performance, his best for ages. A Glenn Hoddle-type performance.

Laudrup is already a master at balancing a team up and fitting the pieces together. Jonjo looks perfect in the playmaker role, with Britton doing the donkey work around him.

Swansea look excellent. Jonjo will have a blast supplying them two up top. Moyes looks more serious than normal. Swansea will cause every team problems.

Think he's playing a blinder, some brilliant passes, couple of shots on target. Looks like he'll fit in well here, really hope he pushes on and becomes a big player.
  • A lot of positive comments about Jonjo on TV! I wish him well and it will prove to be Liverpool's loss. Good to see him confident and assured: the Jonjo we know.

4-0 against Malmo. Swansea really good passing, all the new recruits look excellent. Shelvey has produced some fine passing. Shelvey will be a great player and looks really at home in Swansea.

Swansea bottom of the 4 divisions 10 years ago, great team now, shows what can be done.

Just catching the highlights now. Laudrup looks to have picked up a few gems there, including JonJo.

More importantly...how short is Brian Flynn???? He must look up to Willie Carson & Jimmy Krankie!! Never would have passed the CL Height Test!

    ;-)
  • Bony looked quality, great buy for 13m. Will be worth double that in a year or 2.

Leon Britton is a fantastic player. There's so much to be said for an unselfish holding midfielder who never gives the ball away and plays intelligent passes when he has it. It's incredible to think he was playing in League 2 not very long ago. I'm positive that Joe Allen only looked so good at Swansea because Britton was doing such good work around him. Hopefully this same effect will be applied to Jonjo and he'll be able to show what he can really do

Lovely comments, thanks everyone. As NLA and NSS will tell you I'm one of his biggest critics. But tonight he played with the confidence he had when he was at charlton. Thats been missing in his game but NLA will tell you it is there when he plays for england u21. I think this might be the second best move of his career............ The first will always be signing for Charlton. I know he aint everyones cup of tea on here but for those that have supported him through the years... I think this could be the best ever.

Good to see he's already convinced some Swansea fans. I remember when he signed for them some weren't too impressed.
