Curbs wanted to leave - he was clearly jaded with the fight and was willing to honour his contract begrudgingly - not with enthusiasm - one more year. Perfectly understandable why Murray and he agreed to finish it early. Fans didn't want him out - yes you now can find fans who want Powell out - but they are the minority and I am sick to death of lazy jounos who know nothing about what actually happened pushing this rubbish.
Totally agree with all this. When you stay up for all those years you start to think you can at least match it easily with a new guy. People (Murray included) didn't realise what a miracle worker Curbs was. In hindsight, which of course was easy to do, Murray would admit no doubt that Curbs should have been allowed to see out his contract. Especially seeing as the TV money was increasing that year. It possibly would have allowed him more time to find a better candidate too, seeing as Dowie and Parky were two of those heading up his hitlist.
Of course with hindsight that statement couldn't be more true - but the joint decision they made (Murray and Curbs) not the fans - seemed reasonable at the time.
Yep. Although I always wondered whether it was a bit of cutting his nose off to spite his face/stubbornness by Murray just because Curbs wouldn't sign a me contract. What's done is done either way I suppose.
yeah, to be fair. They're saying that the belgian is being shown round the offices today and to expect an announcement "shortly" for those of you who want to keep it in this megathread.
But as this is a thread of potential takeover the statement from ITTV seems to have gone by without much coment I take it they are not much of a source :O)
Why does anyone take any notice of what goes over there?
quiet, you'll get a thread dedicated to you on that place by this guy...
I have already had the insults from the keyboard warrior even though i've never posted on there. I'm looking forward to my own thread.

The same thing is happening with Man Utd right now. Not on such a drastic scale of course, but Fergie won the league with a pretty average team last season. Moyes is a top manager but he's not in Fergie's league.

If your facebook username is the same as your username on here he'll track it down and message you for a "discussion" at a venue of your choice.
Bloody hell, it's no different to here is it? "Yeah I knew that as well but didn't want to say..."
Course you did...
Jeez, I only asked if anyone was in a position to verify or otherwise the comment from ITTV - nothing more, nothing less. If you can't verify or otherwise then you might as well get back to the 'should Curbs be playing Redfearn' etc. tangent
'Shortly' could be anything from this afternoon to the end of next week - it's all relative. However, a tour of the offices sounds very promising at least in that he is still contemplating purchasing the club.
I still believe that if we need something that requires a decision from a senior bank official or advice from a solicitor we might be waiting until next week as many people will have taken today and tomorrow off.
I don't think you get a tour unless you are going to buy - also by doing this the club will know the news will get out. What we need to know is, has this actually happened? We will of course find out, but th esooner we get confirmation of this th ebetter.

Bleeding heck... What happened to all the takeovers from all the tours that happened over Half-Term then... ;-)

I think Redfearn is a bit past it these days mate. Can't see him dislodging Cousins or Stephens out the team if I'm honest.
Over the last 3 weeks this thread has had high's low's and loads of speculation. Saying that I feel a takeover will happen in time for CP to be able to dip into the transfer market he as probably been asked for a list of potential purchases or loans. A takeover is needed by someone (and I don't care who) has the future of the club at their heart, whether it at the Valley or away but stability is the key to it all a few quid to spend now to stay in the league, invest in the summer for a playoff spot if that not successful further investment to go up as champions. Once in the Prem just enough investment to stay up for the 1st year then invest bit by bit and in the end I would be happy with mid table stability.
Wasn't this the kind of extreme levels of delusion that made your fans call for Curbishley's head because he "couldn't take you to the next level?". Jesus wept - do you lot ever learn?
So do you reckon Pulis will keep you up then?
I have no idea whether Pulis will keep us up. I reckon he's got a good chance though. For the record, I do remember many Charlton fans calling for Curbishley's head 8-9 years ago, and many of you getting ahead of your selves. And I know, Palace's natural place in the scheme of things is about 7th in the Championship. Despite your elongated stay in the top flight last decade, I suspect many of you realise that Charlton's natural

Was n't David Sylvian the lead singer of Japan and more pallid cousin of Simon Jordan albeit with the same /similar hair do and make up ?If so suggest that you stick to the Quiet Life instead of banging your Tin Drum .See you next season in the Championship .
