Past seasons have had lifers moaning about how our new kit has simply been tweaked from previous designs and does not warrant a total replacement. Now we are moaning that it is now "too red or too white". Charlton play in red and white and have done - in varying degrees - since I started watching in 1964. There will never be total agreement on an ideal new kit and I think this one will grow on the fans. If we have a successful season wearing it I will be happy.
I'm just super picky about the home kit, its the club tradition, we are a club that wears red shirts, white shorts, red socks. We have no past of having a V on the shirt like Orient, or white sleeves like Arsenal and Rotherham.
Do what you like with the away kit, I don't really give a shit about that, the home shirt should remain traditional.
Does anyone know if there is a reason we've got red shorts?
it's something to do with not being able to get those really difficult stains out of the white shorts.
apparently the current washing powder we use has been on a consultation period in the last month and is expected to be replaced by a Belgian washing powder which washes red shorts better at 40 degrees.
We've had the occasional kit in the past with red shorts - see attached photographs from 1969/70. Can't remember anyone saying then that we looked too much like Liverpool.
the front of the top isn't exactly spectacular but the whole kit really works and when the team is wearing it on the pitch i think people will change their minds quickly. also the entire back is red so it wont look 'too white' once its on.
Whilst I don't like the kit, there's more important things that the Trust should be doing, such as asking the board to clarify the club's transfer policy and maybe even providing asking them to provide a response to Alex Dyer's parting shots.
Not sure why the UOG would use a 'neutral' typeface like Helvetica Bold Okay it reads okay, but is regarded as 'neutral' in effect. Why did they not use there corporate logo?.
I love it - it looks the kit we used in around '64/65 (not that I was born then). So I'm thinking 'A Hard Day's Night' 'Dr Strangelove' 'The Kinks' 'Billy Bonds' etc etc etc
Can't be bothered to trawl through the previous six pages but my initial reaction is; No, no, no! Looks like Goonershite from the back and is the worst home kit since the all white with red shoulder flashes of the sixties not to mention the red shorts and hooped socks wtf :-( We are red shirts, white trim, white shorts and red socks with white tops ffs.
It's a brave new world. I like it. A lot. Its got a slight touch of a rugby league look about it but hey, no one moans about Oasis ripping off the Beatles.

But this one is incredibly ugly.

If someone has the time, surely we should do the same instead of just moaning about it on here?
However, I doubt anything will change even if we do get thousands of signatures.
Is this something the Trust could do @razil????

I'd be very interested to hear from someone like Airman as to how much the kits bring in commercially though.
Yuk

Roly out!
