After giving him his first team debut just 20 games ago (i think) and being at Charlton since a small kid, if true and he is going thanks Diego nothing like a bit of loyalty in the game. Problem for me is the club are gonna miss out on a big transfer fee for him, thats why i would be really pissed off if he went.
Agreed.
We've invested a shed load of time and money on him. Would have been good if he'd signed a contract to at least guarantee is a fee and a sell on. Instead one of the best players we've had in years is off and we get peanuts
Disappointing IF he goes but the real problem here was the previous ownership.
TJ - I'm staggered you are as wealthy as you are because you've shown nothing but ineptitude on a number of things!
I understand why Diego would choose to join a bigger team, and then again, why wouldn't you sign a contract and keep on developing for maybe a year at the place you've been at through your youth, when you have only just gotten through to the first team the half of a season ago. The Championship is still very competitive and he could still develop a lot here - plus he would make a fantastic gesture to the club and fans.
It's frustrating not knowing what'll happen - it should never have gotten to this stage (I'm looking at you Tony and Michael) >:^(
Depressing. Particularly when we're now supposed to be all about the homegrown kids. I have to say, I think the 'he was waiting to see who the manager was' line is bollocks. Playing in the Premier League, maybe under his dad, and with more money is the reason. And I'd probably do exactly the same. But the manager at CAFC has sod all to do it with it IMO.

from the outside we're a basket case. I don't blame diego tbh
Calm down we don't know anything other than the fact the he is class. We all want him to stay but he has to do what is right for himself just fingers crossed until we know.
The proof he is going is that he has had his hair cut which to me means he is going up north ( they dont like ponytails up north, you can blame Chris Waddle for that) Actually is there any proof he is going??
Of course I'll be gutted if he goes, but is he a brilliant player? In my opinion not yet. He's a possession midfielder, a front to back link up player a better version of Keith Jones. A great deal of his work is short 10 yard passes, I would like to know if he has many assists and how his stats overall compare to Jordan C. Is he a game changer ? No. Is he a EPL player yet? No. So whilst from the fee prospective it's disappointing and he may become a decent player at a higher level we may find it easier to replace him than say a Lee Bowyer type player who had all the same attributes and the ability to score goals from midfield.
Maybe he's starting to think that he's too good for us after 20 odd games, being poorly advised in my opinion. Come on Diego you'll learn more in our first team than in an EPL B team or bench warming with Hamer.
Good luck to him, im sure he will be a great player for years to come but i won't pretend im not a Charlton fan, so im a little bitter and will find it hard to cheer him on like other former youth players of ours, if he does choose to leave for almost nothing, this summer.

He wants to improve as a player on the pitch with stability and known quality around him, don't blame him one ounce when he leaves. He was our best Championship player 9 out of 10 games he played it seemed, and won't be replaced unless we are digging into the Premier League. This news is going to be a kick in the baws, a big one
Is anyone else getting quite worried that the players we 'replace' these players with aren't gonna be as good? Dervite, Hamer, Poyet and Morrison if they go, were our best players

He's a brilliant player and will have a good future in the game if he progresses properly

Im not having a serious go, just being honest.
The squad has been weakened with no sign of replacements yet.
He'll be going I reckon and who can blame him? The club is a mess at the moment.
Shouldve had him signed up before now so I don't blame Roland or the team trying to sign him
It's not all about money

There is no hint that he's re-signed for us but then there is no hint that he's signed elsewhere.
So we wait and see.
