You can get 13-2 for England to win this now. Don't think it's happening.

The papers will be after these guys next!

Not the best of sporting weekends (ish) for English sports stars.

I thought it was the spinner who was going to do us - not the quick.

Not sure who would do the captains job if Cook stood down. I'm not convinced that Broad is the right man. Perhaps Prior ?

All it needs is for Costa Rica to give us a smacking tomorrow, and i can see the headlines on Wednesday morning- and that would be in the Australian papers !

    57-5. Plunkett out last ball.
I've not seen us so shambolic since the winter :-)
Honestly, it was bad enough getting thrashed by The Aussies, but to lose to an average team like SL is really poor.
They were in no danger batting, it seemed as good a track as you could wish.
Then we go in and fall apart.
Truly pathetic all round, from players, to coaches.

It is like the bleak days of the 80s all over again but then we were being humiliated by great Australia and West Indies sides.

Can't bring him in straight away but I'd bring KP back as captain when possible - and the first thing I'd ask him is if he can play with the coward. He'd probably say yes because he is the better man. Then I'd tell the coward to concentrate on improving his average and try to get back in KP's side.
  • KP will NEVER play for England again. He probably should but he wont

Why on earth not ? Surely we need players that pass on confidential information to the opposition players ?
We need to build team morale & KP's the man for the job. Huh ?

I agree. I won't ever happen. We have shot ourselves in the foot and are paying the price for it now.

We deserve to fail making decisions like that.

That would seem the logical 'solution', however, there are too many people at all levels of the game who have made the decision to move forward without him . To bring him back would cast a shadow on themselves and their decisions and potentially throw open all of the echelons of English cricket - and the people in power, like, Cook, Moores,Downton wont allow that to happen , regardless.
And, yes, he did pass information to oppo players. And his captaincy credentials are not exactly in the best condition after his IPL fiasco.
Oh, and he's scored bugger all runs this season.
Not much going for him really is there?

Because he's the loosest of loose cannons.

I don't think he should be captain but I def think KP should be back in the team & Trott needs to be asked back too. I also think the Root should play at 3 and Compton should also be brought back......as well as Monty. Too many novices in the team.

Don't think anyone would have predicted that knock by A Matthews.
He has had a brilliant series and is turning into a class player in all formats.
Hopefully we show some pride tomorrow and bat past lunch.

KP's an arrogant traitor and should never return. Trott had another breakdown at the start of this season. Root wants to bat at 5. Monty has lost the plot, pisses on security guards heads, was chucked out of Sussex for indiscipline and is causing problems with turning up late etc. Compton - maybe.

Apart from that I agree :-)

But its not the 'novices' who have underperformed - both Robson and Ballance have scored big centuries and Plunkett (ok, not that 'new', but you know what i mean) has taken a Michelle - its the likes of Cook,Bell,Broad and Anderson who have.

I thought the bowling by England was crap yesterday. Anderson and Broad didn't look fit. I also think it is time for Cook to have a rest, he looks totally shot. His captaincy yesterday was awful.

    Agreed.

    PS We haven't lost a wicket yet & it's now raining :-)

PPS I think they'll be back out before too long.
