Well, nearly every brand we have had in the past has done a sale to get rid of surplus stock at the end of the season.
If you looked at it from a business sense, Just Sport will be left with a large number of coats, tracksuits, etc etc just sitting there. Wouldn't it make good sense to try a flog it of off cheap as every other clothing retailer does?
Their counter argument would be that if people know they shirts will be heavily discounted they will wait till the end of the season so Just Sport miss out.
This way you have to buy at the full price or not at all.
The trick is to not be left with lots of unsold stock in May but not understock either.
Appreciate that it's not fair on those who have just paid full price to suddenly offer heavy discounts.
But on the flip side, they have just announced that there will be new kits next season, yet the current versions are still on sale in the club shop at full price. Who is going to buy them knowing that they are only valid for two more games, and that the 'new' ones will go on sale at exactly the same price? Assuming we wear red at Birmingham, that black away shirt has already been worn by the first team for the last time!

Good point but if we all thought like that then no one would buy anything as you would always be waiting for the next one to come out.
It also appears that Just Sport have to much stock in the shop. What will they do with it now?

No idea but they are the retail experts.
Used to like buying my boy the cheap kit but he's too old now (16 ) to wear replica kit : - )

It is not Nike who dictate things, it is a company called Just Sport.
Just Sport license the kit off of Nike.
I do think that it is poor show that they offer no discount on things at the end of the season though
I thought Just Sport were a subsidiary of Nike.
No. Just Sport have a license to supply Nike team wear. They also have their own brand called Avec
A tiny little company as well. I'm not entirely sure what Charlton were doing signing a deal with them - let alone Nike! Only £100 capital! Here's a selection of other figures from their accounts:
& I hate to post a Palace kit but for 2013-14, they got the below from Avec. I particularly like that the Avec logo is at the hem of the shirt rather than the front:
We should definitely go back to one of the smaller suppliers once the Nike deal is over. Nike, Adidas, Puma etc might make some nice bespoke kits for the big clubs but, while we outside the Prem at least, we will only get one of their stock kits. Personally, I want Charlton to be the only one's playing in our kit.

So does everyone else which is why they put that red and black badge on it. You know the one with the sword, and the words Charlton Athletic?
As a small club we have other problems with having a bespoke kit. It is difficult/expensive to get numbers in the club shop quickly and due to the costs associated with production the economies of scale are not there so the unit price rises. Now it's, entirely, possible that the benefits that come with the economies of scale are swallowed by the manufacturer, but it's also possible that we would, actually, make more money from a kit that looks like other clubs (from one of the bigger manufacturers) that we would from a small club that makes us an original.
From the perspective of associated clothing I'd be more inclined to buy something from a brand that I normally buy from than a name that I've never heard of and disappears in no time. Maybe it's us, but many of the previous manufacturers we've had don't seem to be trading anymore - a bit like the sponsors.

Macron and Joma still around. Who else is there that isn't around? Osca?
Not sure we ever had an Admiral shiort but at one stage they were big shirt suppliers to clubs, are they still around.
I wonder if the club came out with a £25 shirt they would be able to offset the lower profit margin with higher volume. Obviously someone like Nike would not allow it, but maybe a local manufacturer.
We had Admiral 1988-1991 think it was. Grey away shirt, admiral logos down the sleeves. The second (relegation) home shirt was really nice. Small collar, simple design. It looked great in the Chelsea win when Morts scored a cracker.

Plenty of Charlton bits on their website, but then we're one of their biggest 'Nike teamwear'/ club shop clients.
An alternative is to do what Palace and Barnsley have done, and go for their bespoke Avec kit
