Unfortunately I can't help feeling that the pressure will be on Billings to leave if we don't get promotion from Division 2 in the CC next season.
It is different if you are already centrally contracted and your county is in Division 2 (like Buttler/Anderson for Lancs and Cook at Essex) but if you are trying to establish yourself in the England set up you need to be scoring runs (and in Billings case keeping) at the highest level.
Success breeds success and you only have to look at the number of players from Yorkshire (at least six have appeared in the Ashes squad this season) to realise that playing for a team that is amongst the worst two or three counties in the country isn't going to progress your career.0 -
Surrey will have him.Addick Addict said:Unfortunately I can't help feeling that the pressure will be on Billings to leave if we don't get promotion from Division 2 in the CC next season.

They need another wicket keeper don't they! Six in the same side might restrict their bowling options though.The_President said:

Butcher and Cork are just talking about this very subject with the likes of Willey and Duckett likely to leave Northants at the end of the season for Yorkshire and Somerset respectively.Addick Addict said:Unfortunately I can't help feeling that the pressure will be on Billings to leave if we don't get promotion from Division 2 in the CC next season.

Oh ye of little faith !
Back from Derby/Notts in the early hours after taking in our 2 games and the Kent match on Monday.
Have to admit that I feared the worst following Taylor & co's batting exploits although their last couple of overs left much to be desired if you are an Outlaw !
Every now & again during their innings, I said to Mr F " Here comes a hat trick" , never for one minute expecting a Kent lad to do the honours.....well done to Matt Coles ! A great end to the Notts run fest !
When Denly & then Sam N departed cheaply, I slid further down in my seat, amongst the Notts supporters but gradually regained my immaculate posture(?) once Sam B and DBD made steady progress.
Have never been to Trent Bridge before and was impressed with the way the scoreboard showed the DL situation throughout our innings . It wasn't great reading for the best part of our knock but gradually the true picture unfolded when Sam & Blakey began to stroke the ball with increasing confidence.
A very exciting match and Fanny's jinx has at last been thumped over the Pavilion End for good.
Not sure what an over 60 pays at a Kent ground for a 50 over match but happy with the £11 we each paid on Monday and the 50p scorecard.
Will have my ear( the good one) glued to Five Live Sports' Extra this afternoon for the defining match v Warwickshire.
Come on Kent !!!6 -
Some of us are lucky to get out once a week. Fanny gets to see her football and cricket teams three times in the space of four days.
The laws of probability of those three fixtures falling together are high enough but the chances of not seeing them lose must be astronomic.
Not that I'm the jealous type. Of course!4 -
A nice Darren Stevens article I stumbled across:

Willey announced today he is leaving Northants for Yorkies.Addick Addict said:

Both our game and the Lancs/Glamorgan match have been delayed due to rain. Should both end up being abandoned we will go through to the QFs on superior R/R.
Fanny - time to get those tap shoes out and do that rain dance.

Looking good so far, it's been pissing down all day in cardiff and birmingham gets our weather a few hours later.

Our game has been abandoned. Lancs are currently 68-0 off 8.4 in a 20 over match but the players are currently off the pitch due to rain. Fingers crossed for the inspection at 8.15.0
-
Lancs also abandoned which means we are 4th. My guess is this means we play away to Surrey in QF (as Surrey came top of other group)2
-
Might have some of that0
