Hopefully he's just caretaker until we can negotiate Riga's release from Metz.3

Agreed, when the chips were down Guy seemed like to much of a callow youth to have any answers. Fraeye maybe even more soqueensland_addick said:37 years old, would much rather an older manager. These young whippersnappers seem to loose the dressing room far quicker than older more distinguished managers. Anyway let's not panic yet, apparently Katrien is busy conducting 40 odd interviews this weekend.

I'm not being funny, but isn't that where he's managing/coaching at the moment ?seth plum said:Roland is going to run dry of insiders at this rate.
I absolutely believe that Fraeye will continue to follow the Duchatelet template.
Looking back, when I met Karel and had quite a long chat with him what I remember was that his English was pretty good, he was very inquisitive regarding Charlton and English football, he was annoyed that young players were snatched from smaller clubs by bigger clubs, he dismissed the lower reaches of Belgium football as insignificant, he was very interested regarding our attendance that day, he was generally quite sharp as he was here on business and returning to Ghent that evening to report (presumably) to Roland, he was then in deep conversation with Katrien.
My personal impression was that he had quite a wide knowledge of football on the continent, he stuck me as intelligent person and in command of his brief at that time.
He has some knowledge of us and was here under Riga, so far he has not shown to be racist, so I think Roland is persisting with his experiment.0 -

Could Millwall be playing in a league above us next season?0

I'm so disillusioned with the club, I can't even get upset anymore. Can't see me going to a game for a while0

Well he's clearly ambitious, which can be a good thing.se9addick said:

A big problem with the chancers that the network has brought us so far is that they are ambitious beyond their actual abilities, seemingly with a sense of entitlement where a person's self awareness should be2 -

Didn't fancy it.

Now I feel like doing the same.
Sad. Embarrassing. Ridiculous.
My 13 year old came and when we lost said that it didn't matter if we sacked Luzon, we'd just get another of Roland's mates in and get relegated... So well done the board, your "target the youth" plan is going perfectly.6 -

There is nothing angry about my post, it is a report about what I remember about meeting him.0 -
Yes that's correct, as Cawley had stated that Fraeye would become Charlton's 4th manager/head coach in the last 20 months.Scoham said:
It was amended from permanent to caretaker wasn't it?shirty5 said:
That was not originally reported by Cawley. That has been amended since.Scoham said:SLP article says he'll be caretaker manager. So he's leaving his (presumably) permanent job to be our caretaker head coach? I expect they're hoping he'll get a few good results to then justify giving him the job permanently.

It was very clear to those who wanted to see when Chris Powell was sacked that Roland is a nutter. Fair enough that people didn't want to believe it and have given him time to show otherwise or change, but things have played out accordingly. Meire is a ridiculous chief executive who has been cut far too much slack and Fraeye will no doubt go through the same honeymoon period as all RD's other puppets, with fans being urged to give him a chance.ShootersHillGuru said:
The point is AFKA that it's not Fraeye's fault. I can't hold this ridiculous appointment against him personally. He's obviously not equipped to work at this level and everything points to him being hopelessly out of his depth. He obviously wants to progress his career and I don't blame him for wanting to have a go and prove himself. Who wouldn't. My vitriol is now fully directed at Duchatelet who is now showing breathtaking arrogance and proving that we are in fact very much some kind of weird social experiment where decisions are made not from a good business point of view but just to pursue a strange arrogance and stubbornness to accept the facts.AFKABartram said:Awaiting the round of 'give the bloke a chance' posts. And so the soap opera continues.
And repeat
I'm not saying I won't go because I probably will. It's what I do but I'm afraid that I'm now very much in the RD out corner. A complete turn around for me in just a few weeks.
I want and hope Fraeye to defy the odds and be a success but I'm long enough in the tooth to know that these things rarely work out well.
I'm really very pissed off.
It's as foolish us going round in circles as it is Duchatelet. His ideas will never work and he will kill the club while reasonable people are giving each replacement the benefit of the doubt and hoping for the best. This is a war of attrition and we need to fight it.29 -

I honestly cannot imagine KM being able to come up with a speech that will, in any way, not make her sound like a complete tool.3

Why would Marc Willmots want to manage a League One side when he currently coaches one of the top teams in European international football. Surely he would be looking to manage a top side in other countries.colin1961 said:

A foreign coach with no experience to speak of who is currently coaching a side that would not survive in the Evostick South League, a chief executive who can no longer be trusted, a non-executive chairman (Richard Murray) who seems to be no more than a token to the past who has not had the decency to resign or distance himself from those making such appalling decisions, a squad that is already resigned to relegation and supporters who justifiably cannot see any glimmer of hope for the future. What a charade.
I sat there yesterday at half time and tried to think what M/S Meire has achieved so far this season- a sofa for those unfortunate enough to have been selected to sit on, two ridiculous looking 'mascots', a dozen young children waving flags before kick-off and 'pie-cam'. What a laughing stock we have become.
I remember being one of the covered end that regularly demonstrated against Michael Gliksten's tenure as chairman as we felt the club had sunk to unacceptable levels at that time. In hindsight, how wrong I was. Congratulations to Duchatelet and Meire. They have brought this once great club to it's knees far quicker and more efficiently than Gliksten ever could.8 -

Whoever you are, Colin1961, I can only presume that you are not the sharpest tool in the box. The risk is we will be relegated far quicker than Blackpool were last year.1
