Amazing how Tony Watt seems to get the benefit of the doubt amongst some of our supporters, when clearly he's a bit of a plum. Sounds like he's upset people here, at Standard and at Celtic. However Callum Harriott, another young player, is a lost cause and gets plenty of stick cos he's got 'messi' in his Twitter name.
  • Has this actually been confirmed anywhere?

the injured Igor was off to Bolton not to long ago

Not confirmed but it is happening
Sorry i haven't read the entire thread, how do we know it is happening? Just the original article?
Various news outlets have said its happening and also Dr Kish.

Watt has only been involved in 1 out of 4 wins this season!

    Ridiculous statement and means nothing.

Tony Watt is a maverick, he is the only player barring JJ, who has the ability to turn a game in our favour. A player like Watt needs an arm round his shoulder, and told how bloody good he is which leads me to believe that the manager has no idea of how to do this, Powell, for all his faults, knows how to big up a player.
Now I can understand sending him on loan (cutting his wage from the bill) if we had a peasant owning the club, but the fact we have a (almost) billionaire as the owner makes the decision ludicrous and yet another reason, as if we needed one, that that The Dynamic Duo have no idea.

Who's lined up to replace him? Anyone up on ujpest reserves? At least the situations become so farcical we can laugh about. Just so glad I don't take cafc as seriously as I did ten years ago or I might be upset.

How is that a ridiculous statement? Maybe it means we have been playing more as a team than when Watt has been in the team?
  • I do not understand some of the comments on here.

I am a HUGE TW fan, but we have won our last 2 games without him.

I'm convinced that some of you spouting the most vitriol over this decision, are the ones who scored him 3/4 in the match threads.

In a relegation fight, you cannot afford a luxury player, which TW undoubtedly is.

There was a part of the game against Birmingham when Lookman was pinned in the corner by 2 defenders. With a step over, and a drop of the shoulder, and a nutmeg, he was past the two of them and got a shot away.

He also has great skill, (which he is encouraged to use by the academy. In the Hythe game, even when his tricks and flicks didn't come off, at no time was he told to stop by Euell...) but has PACE, and the proper work ethic.

Get behind him, not on his back, and see where he takes us

Watt is clearly a better player when on form but that only goes to make it even more confusing on some of our fans outlook. We are paying a very talented footballer his wages and he's being a knob and not producing on the pitch, yet we'd rather give him the benefit of the doubt but not to a hard working academy product.

Appears Watt is the one that needs to change his attitude, not his employers.

Now on the OS. Loan until Jan 16th.
  • I had started to give some benefit of the doubt and then this fucking moronic lot of bastards who have the football acumen of 12 year old me playing Championship Manager bringing in every 35 year old free agent to whatever team I was managing. Who the fuck can think this is going to help us?

Mental to get rid of a player of Watt's talent. Yeah he's not exactly set the world alight the last couple of months, but who has. He's been a good player for us since he joined, undoubtedly has skill, needs a creative midfield (which we've lacked) and to be deployed in the correct position (which he hasnt) to be effective.

If we sell to Cardiff we'll regret it down the line.
  • I understand loaning him out. But if there is an agreement for a permanent deal then someone at the club is clearly clueless. With the right man management he could be the best striker in this league and I've no doubt about that. If this is to let him find his form so he can come back in January then great but I fear that that's not the case.

might be worth putting a bet on Tony scoring on his Cardiff debut. Usually happens when we let someone go.

Think you will find this move is about a player been moved out to avoid disruption to a dressing room that will be fighting for survival, quite a few of the younger player gravitate towards TW, and are falling under his influence, its all about a team ethic.

Do we know he's being a knob though?

Surely our owners knew what they was taking on when they bought him.

Maybe he does want to go I would.

You have a Russell on the phone saying come down here I'm gonna pair you up with so and so and this is my vision for the side.

Or listen to whatever trolley dolly comes along to manage us for the next 3 months

It's like they they want to anger the fans on purpose. Things finally start picking up and the squad finally starts to look a bit like a squad they get rid of one of our better players.

Quick they are too happy we won 2 games on trot lets get rid of one of the players they like that will show em.

Makes me laugh the way the whys and wherefores are discussed in football or man management terms. He has gone because Cardiff offered enough money that is all. Miere said at fans meeting that she was going to close the gap between sales and purchases. That's why the interim one was told to play Lookman. That is the strategy. Wake up.

How could our owners possibly have known what he was like at his previous club?

Least it prepares us for Cousins and Gudmundsson to be sold to the highest first bidder in the summer
