  • He is a frustrating player. All the ability in the world, but also not a great football brain. He isn’t a player for a struggling side, he just tries to do too much, but in a functioning side, he is a cut above. He is a maverick and unless we are getting big bucks for him, I suspect the club has forgotten how easy it is to lose a few key players and fall into the proverbial. A bit strange, seeing as a long memory is not required!

If it is good money, which will enable us to strengthen in the right places, it could be ok. But I just don’t have enough faith in the decisions the club makes!

Last para says it all for me. If the decision had been made by Powell or Curbs or any manager/board that we respected, I would probably back the decision if I didn't agree or understand it. But with these clowns my cynicism just says it was done for a quick buck.
  • Good money Muttley? We apparently got 3.6 million for Joe Gomez, who looks as if he is England bound. If we are moving Tony Watt on for a problem at the club, do you really see KM negotiating a decent fee? Still, I suppose tghere is always a first time for everything.

No I don't - was just saying without knowing the details.
  • "If a player goes on loan it's not to get them out its to make them better"....... KF, pre Brum interview.

    See, more lies.

    You watt?

May that not be the truth?

Wasn't he specifically referring to Lennon and Harriott when saying this?
  • So none of our network signings are still with us...apart from Reza!

Think you will find this move is about a player been moved out to avoid disruption to a dressing room that will be fighting for survival, quite a few of the younger player gravitate towards TW, and are falling under his influence, its all about a team ethic.

    Interesting view.

Yes, but I think the presumption that we will be struggling for survival is premature and overly pessimistic. We are only a couple of wins off mid/upper table and with a strong forward line with someone like Watt available to turn a game if needed, such a position should be easily attainable.
If younger players choose to gravitate towards a senior player with a poor attitude and who has been frozen out from the first team because of his poor attitude, then it's those young players who need a good talking to, as they are damaging their own prospects. I can't help feeling that this problem could have been dealt with in a more satisfactory manner for all concerned.

    and Gorgeous George
  • Is Tucudean actually available for selection?
  • Not up to speed with CL yesterday so imagine my surprise when I logged on here just now expecting to read to usual load of tosh. and I se this thread..............first thing that entered my mind was the last scene of the film "Bridge on the River Kwai"

    Madness...............madness.

I was just starting to get the feeling thongs were turning around & not being bothered with the black& white day planned for Saturday and then I read this.

most skilful attacking player at the club & we want to give him away.............don't care is he may be a bit disruptive, that can be sorted out..........skill cant !!
  • I don't know if this has been posted already but this is now his 4th club in 18 months since joining Liege, and he's only 21, instead of looking at the board why don't we think about the attitude of the player? He hasn't featured in the last two games and we appear to be playing a lot better without him. No doubting that when he wants to turn on the style he really can, but 2 goals in the league suggests he isn't the player people are making him out to be. If we want to get out of this position in the league we need to be a team, hence why we got rid of McAleny and probably why we have offloaded Watt, if they don't have it in them to be team players then they're better off elsewhere IMO.

He fell under the spell of Duchatelet and has been moved around for profit. Nothing to do with football.

The fact that quite a few on here are all of a sudden defending the board on this decision supports my fear that our fanbase will never properly rock our ownership when it really comes down to it and are so easily appeased by a couple of surprise wins. Unbelievable.

None of us know the full story. I'm not the boards biggest fan. However, people are blaming the board with no backup. What if something has happened behind the scenes, which made his position at the club untenable? None of us know. And we won't know because that's between the club and the player. I know many of us are upset with the board at the mo, but IMO I don't think this was a wrong decision by the board.
When a player has done something untenable they don't get sent out on loan to a club 11 places higher than us in the league usually.
So what else could they do? Pay his contract off? That would of went down well.

Loan him to any club, a rival? That would of went down well.

If they wanted to get shot of him, the first club to take his wages should have him. For all we know, Cardiff may have been the only club to make an offer.

Just out of curiosity, so what's your thoughts on it all? The board fancied a laugh and loaned him out?
As I previously suggested - how about we actually get a MANAGER who knows how to deal with players on and off the field?

No I don't think the board did it cos they fancied a laugh. I think they did it because they are absolutely inept and have this amazing ability to fail to learn on previous mistakes.
    Sounds just like Mr Watt!
  • Is Tucudean actually available for selection?

    No.

As I understand it he's in Romania without a club.

We hold his registration but he's on an international loan so can only play in Romania.

We're not paying him any wages

He'll revert to be our plaer and eligible to play for us in the summer of 2016.

How that came about I don't know not do I understand why and how Steau got out of the loan.

    All very weird.

  • You would have thought it would be illegal to restrict him from joining another club if he isn't receiving any salary!
  • Is Tucudean actually available for selection?

He joined Steaua Bucharest in January last year on an 18-month contract... Because of the terms of Loan Contracts between International FAs (similar to the Reza situation last season), George cannot play for Charlton until next season.

At present that technically means that George is sort of a Free Transfer and is allowed to join any Romanian side until May (provided Charlton agree)

That means who is paying his wages at present? (shrug)
  • If he's such trouble then why are Cardiff taking him? Dont get it. Perhaps they've got a manager who feels he can stand up to players? Maybe they just know how to bring the best out of talented but wayward 21 year olds?

Getting rid of talent from a thin squad is exactly the kind of reason we're where we are.

And KM in negotiations - I just cant imagine shes particularly good! You'd need to have respect and a cool head to negotiate player deals and I just dont think she's got either.

Someone must be paying his wages or he'd be a free agent.
  • 2Cardiff City Football Club is delighted to announce the loan signing of Tony Watt, from Charlton Athletic, subject to international clearance."

Is that significant or to do with them being in Wales?
  • 'A move to the Welsh capital presents him with an opportunity to rediscover his early-season performances'. For another Championship team. Genius. Maybe they're hoping that Watt will ruin Anthony Pilkington's form or lure Sammy Ameobi into a lifestyle of Cornish pasties and Lucky Strikes
  • It is a shame as he was out of this world and just what we needed when he arrived but I dont think we can carry anyone at the momeent.

I would be more upset if Igor left without having another chance, a fit Igor upfront with SM would score goals I am sure of it.
  • Can't see this other than them looking to off load him permanently, not for fitness or to regain form. Why else send him out on loan to a rival? I just hope they have someone else lined up, because we need strength up top. Relying on Lookman and KAG is unfair pressure on them.
