    The problem is that we all have our own ideas about the protest and are often at odds with each other. Yesterday we were led, and ideas are great and should continue, but we need leading so we all move as one. Rick is that natural leader. Cometh the hour and all that.

    I am lucky enough to have known Rick since the late eighties. He was, and remains, a top man who cares about the club passionately. Great interview.

    very eloquent, very committed, extremely well explained and argued and showing controlled passion .. he's convinced me ...
    although I STILL maintain that Duchatelet is not evil, he sincerely believed that his 'plan' would lead to a successful CAFC .. time has shown that he was wrong and radical change is necessary, otherwise Duchatelet should admit defeat and sell up

    Great work Rick. The turnout was superb and I heard both the Talksport and BBC interviews which came across brilliantly. Be proud, you called and a thousand plus Charlton fans answered. With the publicity we are getting, I very much hope the numbers will explode.

    Let's also remember the other contributors too, I'm sure Rick will not want to take all of the credit. Joe and the rest of the Spell it Out guys helped get things to this point, plus I'm sure many others that I can't quite think of right now!

    "We will make the club unmanagable" not a threat a statement of fact.Reminded me of Arnold in the terminator"I'll be back".
    No one need doubt it as this made is a DOER as well as a talker

    Rick's Wars

    Scene 2040

    Rick Everitt is sitting in his lounge quietly enjoying a nice cup of tea when the hologram rings. A heavily cardiganed Ben Hayes appears.
    Ben : Rick, it's urgent, Charlton needs your help! The club has been taken over by Martians who want to send us to The Conference League and turn the Valley into an intergalactic hoverport!
    Rick: Oh ffs! Not again! I've just sat down with me tea!
    Ben : We're all counting on you, mate.
    Rick: Well can I at least eat my garibaldi biscuit first?
    Ben: Er....
    Rick : ( big sigh) Right, right.... where's my red shirt....

    like it :smiley:

    Echo everything that has been said. Fantastic work Airman.

    He's one of our own, he's one of our own, airman brown he's one of our own.

    Got a bit carried away there, that's lunch time drinking for you.
  • Loving this, Airman Brown has gone from permafrost villain to hot favourite. Well done Rick and all who have worked so hard to try and save the club, again.

    Don't be a bitter ex-employee uboat ?

    I can understand your angst thou;

    I can't remember if you were Floyd or Harvey but to be made redundant
    and then stuffed and put in the museum would be hard for anyone to take.

    On the bright side, if we were taken over by Martians there would be some great new exhibits for the Museum

    I WENT into a public 'ouse to get a pint o' beer,
    The publican 'e up an' sez, " We serve no red-coats here."
    The girls be'ind the bar they laughed an' giggled fit to die,
    I outs into the street again an' to myself sez I:
    O it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' " Tommy, go away " ;
    But it's " Thank you, Mister Atkins," when the band begins to play
    The band begins to play, my boys, the band begins to play,
    O it's " Thank you, Mister Atkins," when the band begins to play.

    I went into a theatre as sober as could be,
    They gave a drunk civilian room, but 'adn't none for me;
    They sent me to the gallery or round the music-'alls,
    But when it comes to fightin', Lord! they'll shove me in the stalls!
    For it's Tommy this, an' Tommy that, an' " Tommy, wait outside ";
    But it's " Special train for Atkins " when the trooper's on the tide
    The troopship's on the tide, my boys, the troopship's on the tide,
    O it's " Special train for Atkins " when the trooper's on the tide.

    :-) Tommy, one of my very favourite poems.

    The infamous Stoke game, had a nice piece of Valley turf that I kept on my mums kitchen window-sill (in a tupperware box....it lasted 3-4 weeks). I've known Rick for years (through several mutual friends) he certainly is an asset shame he isn't still working for the club....but that's another story.
    My first ever football match (hence 85). Dad told six-year-old me it was all completely normal. I expected to see pitch invasions and turf theft every week after that.

    We have an exclusive interview with Rick on Charlton Live this evening, along with plenty of quotes from fans I interview at the protest.

    You're about the same age as my son @JiMMy 85 (who was a Junior Red) whom me and my Dad dragged over to Sellout in the nomadic years. Lo and behold we were rewarded with top flight football for the first time in my lifetime of supporting the team and second time round for Dad who first went to the Valley in 1933. Sadly this is what the current regime just don't get or give a toss about, it's been a way of life for so many of us, is in our genes and we cherish our memories dearly.

  • I can't describe how I feel right now about the supporters who are protesting on whatever platform. I thought that we were dead. I was wrong. I'm choked up tbh.

  • AB as eloquent, committed and forthright as ever but now bringing something of the elder statesman to his game which adds even more authority to his words. This is only the start of a whole new chapter in the rich history of our incomparable club.
  • Well said Airman! As far as most Addicks fans are concerned the Belgians are finished at OUR club!!!
    The spirit of the back to the Valley days has emerged among supporters and we will do what is necessary to rid ourselves of the current regime.
  • Thanks Airman, that was brilliant. Proud to be a Charltin fan this afternoon and your interview topped it off.
    Also well done to all the other callers. Charlton fans can state their case with eloquent language. Well done all

    Superb work, Rick, thank you. The tactics of silence beloved by RD and his hapless sidekicks only works when nobody is listening to the voices of opposition. But now they are. Your move, Katrien.

    I think they are finished. They are so arrogant though, it will take them a while to realise this. Check out Carol's quote that we are protesting because the team is not doing well. Idiot.

    It is the beginning of the end ...up to them how long that end will take ...but it will end, we will slowly gain the upper hand.
