Is Card dealing from the right deck?

I am not here for a row. I welcome and will respond to reasoned debate on this but really can't see how further protest can help CAFC.
The Card campaign is flawed. It won't win. Roland will leave when he wants to, and no beach/stress balls, Pinocchio masks or walk outs will make the slightest difference. The trenches on either side have been dug and instead of the swift resolution that Card thought it would achieve, as far as I can see this campaign has now become a stand off between an egotistical owner protecting his CEO, and a well meaning but ultimately misguided fan base. The current form of protests in my view , simply reinforce the stubborn es in the regime to stay longer. Your not dealing here with a normal owner - but a politician, and like any politician, Roland has it in his head that the electorate knows shit and should be protected from themselves. Card are just playing into his that psychosis. In fact , Card seem now to suffer from the same problem that Roland has - engaging with the fans. nobody seem to know what will be happening from one week to the other, but a favoured and self important few. Card had the chance to make the TV world sit up and take notice, and they bottled it. Now the protest seem tiresome, repetitive, and completely without direction. It also does not reach out to the majority of fans. It excludes them and appears self righteous. Before winning over Roland surely Card should be winning over the majority of cafc fans. As much as Card won't want to hear it, most of the fans that sit by me, find the protest irritating and self serving.
I honestly do not know what Card want. And how they seriously expect to make CAFC a better club. It's never really been properly explained.
I read these boards regularly and have done for years. It seems to me that there is a repeating 'same faces' political element that want to exercise some sort of fan power. Why? I don't want anyone speaking for me. Particularly as they seem to be the same people wearing different hats. At least they should have the courtesy to ask my opinion because in the past many of those fans have got it fantastically wrong.
We were told by on these boards that the previous regime under Jimenez and Slater were heading us off into administration. Yet they got us out of a massive hole and improved this club no end . Funnily enough they also refused to enter an 'engagement' with the fans and got dogs abuse on here. And what happened? They sell us to this lot? Be careful what you wish for?
I also sat through the Curbs abuse. He can't take us to the next level they said, we need new management they said. And what happened? again be careful what you wish for.
We were told Murray was a great guy. Of course he was not. Although he did give some of the fans a biscuit or two in the boardroom which kept him on their side - that is of course why he was kept out of the firing line for so long. Now it has dawned on so many of you that he was in it for his cash and your former favourite has been dropped like a bad smell.
We are stuck with this regime. We can't tell Roland how to spend his money nor can we replace Katiren. The abuse that woman keeps getting ensures her future. It's obvious that she is out of her depth but what is the alternative? Roland will not buckle and as I see it Katrien has bigger balls than the fans that despise her so much.
What we should be doing is supporting the team. Because I now wonder if Card really are about their own glory and not the glory of CAFC. It's time for CARD to put up or shut up. Show us that you can change this club for the better and have viable workable alternatives. If not, leave the protests to after the game.

Hmmmmm... shall I get the popcorn?2

Yep the protests have ruined our chances....oh wait we've won the last 2 home games we've protested at.7

Barnsley just about to lift the JPT. That'll be our aspiration for next season under this regime. That's why we have to keep going.4
-
Yeah let's sit on our hands doing nothing and hope Roly poly changes tack - which he won't of course. And yes let's keep giving him our money too. Is that the sound of water dripping into this sinking ship I hear? I'll just sit here and wait for someone to rescue me.2

Not sure they have any aspirations linked to football success this lot.Addickted2U said:Barnsley just about to lift the JPT. That'll be our aspiration for next season under this regime. That's why we have to keep going.

When have CARD once said this would be a quick win? Never. They have in fact said the complete opposite.
You don't know what CARD want? Hmmm tough one. Howabout RD to sell. Its not rocket science.
Self serving protests? Who from CARD has gone on the record and named themselves? Its all been under the CARD banner and has nothing to do with ego's.
To be honest I can't be bothered to pull apart the rest of the post because it's been put up to get a reaction. If you really believe that Katrien can't be replaced because there is no alternative then you are delusional.
You sit back and support the ragbag of shite that the Dear Leader will provide us with in League One, I'll take solace in the fact that there are people like CARD who are smarter than the jokers that are running our club and are prepared to do something about it.
Make no mistake about it this regime is a laughing stock within professional football, they have already done damage that will take years to repair and every day they remain they are chipping away at the soul of the club.49 -
I gather you were one of the 2 on the pitch then ...? No didn't think so!Belgiumbun said:Card had the chance to make the TV world sit up and take notice, and they bottled it. Now the protest seem tiresome, repetitive, and completely without direction.
Or that you've already got hundred and thousands of Charlton fans to join and listen to your new rival protest group that will of course make charlton as a club sit up and listen ...? No don't think so either!
You do realise that 'CARD' isn't a group of 4 or 5 people deciding what happens and want to rule the world once they gain power don't you? It's a common entity that thousands of fans cans AND HAVE joined and used to unite with their fellow Charlton fans!5 -
You're right, Roland WILL leave when he wants, but these protests may just help him to make that decision sooner. With that in mind, keeping them going is a no brainer. Roland is an old man, at some point he may think that he can do without all the extra stress that the protests cause, not to mention the money he is going to lose as a result.
What's the alternative? Sit around like good little children and wait for him to ruin the club before he leaves? It's on a downward spiral, Duchatelet, Meire and Co. are the reason for that. The sooner they go the better. If protesting has even the tiniest amount of impact on helping with that, then I'm all for it.18 -
If you Fight, you might not Win.
If you don't Fight, you will definitely LOSE!!!!25 -
Everyone is entitled to their opinion but should we just all sit back and applaud everything this toxic regime have and are doing to this club. They don't give a toss about the club, history or fans, they've made that very clear. So, we should do nothing? If that was the mindset before, we would never have set foot in the Valley again4

There's "mis-guided" and then there's "hasn't got a clue". I'll leave it to others to pull this to pieces but it shows a frightening level of ignorance of the situation at our club and is riddled with factual inaccuracies.Belgiumbun said:That's it I said it.

Just upset that we're not using Happy Families....
It is only the protests that is keeping the spirit of the Charlton that got back to The Valley alive, the same spirit that supported Curbs all the way to the Prem, the same spirit that was saddened when he went, but understood the reasons, and the same spirit that had us bursting with pride when SCP was selected for the English team...7 - Sponsored links:

There are some genuine points to discuss, but don't think that's what you're here for is it?10 -
Ok here we go.
Card's mandate was to ensure a 'swift resolution' to the problems with the board and fans. Or at least that what was on the bumf I read. So card got it wrong.
Replace Roland with who?
Replace Katrien with who.
There are other fans at this club as well. There are fans that care just as much about CAFC than those that throw plastic balls about. They need convincing that an action group is not a wrecking crew.
There are alternatives to fighting
The egos on this board demonstrate that reasoned debate is difficult
The club was relegated to the old third division before and none of this abuse was experienced against the board - why? Maybe some of the fans liked being mates with the board at that time.
Card does not go on other forums and promote themselves - why?
You can't tell anyone how to spend their money. If you have 40m please buy us out.
If your want to support the club you have to be in Card - how so? Illogical and irrational.
How was Card formed? Is Card actually Cast!
You take the club as you find it. If you don't like it don't go. Season ticket boycotts (really) the club know they same faces will go.
We have been in worse positions.

I'm hear to listen to argument. Perhaps one post might actually address my concern rather than trying to character assassinate. Which is the reason why we get nowhere with the board.1

Not even a good try ...must try harder.1

please don't just deride Belgiumbun but think about what he says. I have supported CARD but that does not mean that they are always right.
From what we have seen of RD and KM it seems that they are both very obdurate people and not for moving. Quite a few supporters do not agree with the stopping of matches, in fact it annoys them and will not bring them over to CARD's side.
CARD have said that they are in for the long haul and we have to hope that the protests will eventually take their toll on the owner together with reduced income of relegation.
However I believe CARD need to change their tactics and not cause any more match delays but instead concentrate on informing the doubters why they need to support the campaign.
Where I think Belgiumbun is very wrong in his assertion that CARD is about it's own glory, but don't let that cloud a view that does make some good points10 -

Read all the previous posts just like everybody else.
CARD got rid of Curbs? Thats a new slant on it.4 -
With respect your opening post was IMHO a long and detailed character assassination of CARD and those that support them. I don't think you can seriously expect anything less.Belgiumbun said:I'm hear to listen to argument. Perhaps one post might actually address my concern rather than trying to character assassinate. Maybe I'm a little cynical, but there is a rash of anti-Card posts at the moment. I suppose club employees don't have much to do at the moment.19

This thread could go on forever & ever if we ALL justify the purpose of CARD to the 2% !!0
