  • If it really does show a change of strategy from the club it will have to be someone like Warnock who won't take any interference from upper management and their Belgian laptop scouts.

As much as I like Slade, he would not represent a change of direction, just them finally hiring someone british and who is not a complete no mark like the last few.

It will still be business as usual.

As much as I don't want to defend the regime. I think it is a change of strategy. The fans have been saying for almost two years that appointing a foreign manager was not the way forward. At each appointment they've made its become more obvious. The appointment of a British manager is a step in the right direction.

I can't say I'm particularly inspired if they do appoint Russell Slade but to call him a no mark is I think unfair.

Who exactly did you want to be appointed ?

I was calling Riga, Fraeye, Luzon & Peeters the no marks, as I say, I like Slade and believe he is a decent manager, my point is that he is not a sign that the regime is changing its incompetant and interfering ways as he has experience of being happy to work with interfering owners.

A hiring of someone who would want it all his own way, who would be more costly and has a record of success like Warnock would be a signal of real change from them in my eyes.

So welcome Slade but it will take a lot more for me to start saying they are truly willing to change and that they are accepting of all the many mistakes they have made that has led us to this position.

Agree, GGA except I wouldn't call Jose Riga a no mark.

The only one of the 4 that showed one iota of understanding what our club AND its fans are all about & from what I've heard, had the respect of his players.

And the only one that RD didn't sack.

To be fair. They shot their mouth off with Wilder and got totally embarrassed when it went tits up. I can certainly see why they are keeping a tight a lid as possible on this until the new man is pictured in front of the East Stand.

They're probably delaying it until they find scarfy.....

He's in the eBay sale they have organised.

Pretty good appointment if true. Still don't think he will succeed under these owners though. In fact I think he will walk pretty soon into his tenure if they keep up their usual tricks.

That would make @DOUCHER 's inside info posted earlier in the week completely accurate, credit where it's due.

Dunno whether to laugh or cry. Reasonable appointment, but what the hell's he thinking of?! Does he not read the news or does he just love working for clueless nutjobs who undermine his position and make his job impossible.

Anyway, I bet Katrien's feeling all smug and thinking "this'll shut them up". Presuming there's a press conference (which is a big if), how many candidates do we reckon Katrien will claim to have interviewed before it became clear that Russell was the right man for the job? 600? 5000?
  • If Slade comes in I insist he wears a suit.
I don't want any full kit wankery or variations on it.

That was one of my biggest disappointments of the Luzon reign. He always appeared to be a suit man before he came to Charlton. Maybe the tracky helped his touchline squatting.

BHA supporter at work reckons he could do a good job for us (actually he said he'd be better than all the other lot we've had, which is not difficult. ...)

The reason it has taken so long is because our illustrious leaders know we would expect better than Slade, so put out a few rumours, let us debate it on forums, first all saying no way, then after a while saying, he is better than regime appointments, then seeing other clubs appointing managers and knowing we are getting desperate, we will say on the forums, just appoint Slade and get on with it. Result, everybody happy and no complaints

Is Lennie joining Cardiff or has he already agreed to join us, seeing as the rumour is that he gave a list of managers names to KM to recruit

On the assumption that it is Slade. Promising that we've been able to tempt a manager out of paid employment at another club, albeit in a role he maybe doesn't favour.

Have we had to pay compo to Cardiff ?

Slade probably negotiated a pay off as he was effectively sacked as head coach and moved upstairs to DoF.

My point was is he had a job so wasn't desperate for employment, yet still thought fit to sign for us. That may be money motivated, he may have swallowed a pack of lies from Roland and Katriene, or they may have convinced him that they genuinely will give him a working environment in which he can succeed. Time will tell which I guess.

The sky sports announcement that broke the news regarding Slade leaving Cardiff showed footage of Slade outside what was presumably cardiffs stadium ... Thought he was on holiday!?

Possibly , but strange to use footage of him walking through a door rather than a clip taken from when Cardiff were last on sky
