I work with a Cardiff supporter and he came to commiserate with me this morning. He was not liked there for the awful style of football. Still he has experience at L1 level so we ought to give him a chance.0

Tony Watt is happy - well he "liked" the Tweet anyway.3

A few points about Meire's comms:
We don’t underestimate the challenge of getting Charlton back into the Championship. We believe Russell is the man to help us achieve this and, with the help of everyone involved in the club, ensure that Charlton have a successful 2016/17 campaign. Russell has vast experience in the division and is a two-time League One Manager of The Year. He joins us as Manager on a long-term contract and his appointment represents the start of an exciting new era at the club under his guidance.
1. Is that like you didn't underestimate the challenge of the Championship? I that like you didn't plan for League One, because you never thought we'd be there. What I never underestimate is the incompetence of the board.
2. To help 'us' achieve this!?!?!?! What's this us, Daisy? What will your role be other than providing a season's worth of comedy cock-ups?
3. 'Everyone', get the excuses in early. When it all goes wrong you'll be able to blame the fans.
4. 'Long term contract'. Good negotiating Russ, when you get the push around xmas they'll have to pay you off early.
5. 'Exciting new era'. Exciting new era! EXITING NEW ERA!!!!!!!! What complete madness is this? Competing in a division, one level below the one we ought to be accustomed to and two levels below the one we ought to aspire to is now deemed exciting. Katy, you wrote the book when it came to spouting horseshit.
I've nothing against Slade. I believe him to be a good manager, a decent man and probably about the best person the club could hope to get. But this changes nothing. The regime is still here though. Their stated aims of player-farming are not compatible with any vision I have for the club and their complete lack of trustworthiness over the past 2½ years means that I will never trust them again. If we're lucky, they may just do enough to get us promoted (though you can never discount their ability to cock things up). It is most certainly though, not the start of an exciting era. The demonstrations have to continue, the boycotts have to continue and ultimately, they have to leave our club.

And whatever it's called can I have a refund please ?
What utter tossers this lot are. ..
Slade is the british manager with league experience we've been asking for, even if he is about as uninspiring as they come. Small step in the right direction but the legacy of the last few years means I will never be able to support this board.0 -
And straight in at top of the ITK charts must be 'DOUCHER' - might even celebrate this highly esteemed position by changing my name back to Bexley Dan - never been comfortable with this new name. I'll be revealing whether we will be staying in or out of Europe next week so stay tuned!!3

No I didn't, as I pointed out previously, Scoham or somebody said that - you can check that if you want to trawl back over the thread Henry - there's no shame in you not being ITK Henry and I'm really not in the business of pretending to be - that would be a bit sad wouldn't it?Henry Irving said:

No shame in not being in the know, bit sad pretending to be though I agree ; - )3 -
Tony Watt has just moved back into the club house he had when playing for Charlton so don't be surprised to see him playing for Russell Slade's team this coming season. I can only assume Slade stipulated he wanted him as part of the deal ?9

Incorrect Henry - I knew the length of contract (but didn't state it), I knew the level of experience and where he was from within reason. To try and argue that I said he had a 2 year contract would only make you look silly because I never did and never implied that in any way. Why is it so important to you? Now that seems a bit sad.Henry Irving said:

My Oh My, How Does It Feel? Should we All Join Hands? Do You Believe In Miracles? Is Russell Slade The Shape Of Things To Come? What made him think 'In For A Penny, I'm gonna Get Down And Get With It at Charlton'? After meeting roly &/or squirrel face why didn't he think 'Take Me Bak Ome, I need to be Far Far Away?' Is he Nobody's Fool, why didn't he Run Runaway? We'll tell him 'Give Us A Goal', he'll tell us 'You Boys Make Big Noize' but by November will it be Still The Same?
Russell should know that while roly and his lickspittles remain We Won't Give In and if they stay We'll Bring The House Down.
Welcome Russell, good luck. Let's hope there's a decent and successful interval before you hear "Come in number 7 your time is up."0 -
About as good as we would of got. Christ, supporting Charlton Athletic is shite ATM.1
