    Over 10,000 season ticket holders last season. 5,400 is a big drop.

    For cold mid winter winter evenings against Northern opposition with small away followings, the crowd's looking sub 5 to 6 thousand . Regular Saturday to 7 to 9 depending on away support. Sub 10,000 for most games. That target 20 thousand group needs to rename itself as that figure is looking a long way off.

    True, but I'd imagine season ticket sales go quite far in producing a running budget as well as transfer expenses!
    A 50% fall in paying customers is disastrous , so even with late comers both on the pitch and in the stand- the damage has been done and point made!

    Really Can't see 2000+ getting a season ticket by mid October to bump up the total...

    Really Can't see 2000+ getting a season ticket by mid October to bump up the total...
    We've managed to offload what I suspect were some expensive salaries and generate some cashflow at the same time so the initial hit from the ST numbers drop probably hasn't hurt as much as people think.

So a supporter who has had a season ticket for many years, chosen not to renew because of being sick of the Duchatelet regime can't claim the title any more ? There's some great posts above about Charlton supporters not dividing themselves out between those who have chosen not to renew and those that didn't. Everyone has legitimate reasons that need to be respected. It is important for Charlton Athletic supporters to stay together, so that Duchatelet can sell up and take one of those offers that he keeps getting to sell the club.

    Did CARD ever call for a boycott? I know they asked people to wait till after July, but not sure about a boycott.

    A week or more after @Grapevine49 brilliant and chilling post, we now sit here without a senior Goalkeeper, having waved goodbye to Pope, Gudmundsson, Cousins, Watt and shortly Henderson (do we count Bergdich here) and almost certainly Lookman and Texeira, things are looking bleak to say the very least. Did we not sign something like 17 players the last time we challenged for promotion in League 1? So, we have replaced some of 6-8 best players from a albeit struggling Championship side with three league one and two players with three weeks to go before we kick off....anyone fearing the worst yet? Im frickin terrified, but hardly surprised given the board's track record......we may have an English manager for now, but nothing upstairs has changed one iota.

    cant speak for CARD but that is pretty much what I expected and said so on here.

    A 45% reduction (at this point) is a HUGE success for the boycott IMHO.

    Not even the most optimistic CARD supported would have expected 100% or anything near it.

    I agree it will creep up to around or just under 7k by KO.

    Still a 30% drop. The club will stick their fingers in their ears and pretend it is all due to relegation but we know that's not true. I'm sure that is the excuse the Katrien will give Roland

    Henry, I'm not saying that those that haven't bought a ST or won't be going are not committed fans. Fair play to anybody that can stay away but I'm just being realistic. For many of us, whatever shit has come the club's way over the years, I know we still keep going, no matter what. Staying away hurts us more than RD and KM because we are emotionally connected to the club, they're not.

    Henry, I'm not saying that those that haven't bought a ST or won't be going are not committed fans. Fair play to anybody that can stay away but I'm just being realistic.     I have had a season ticket since 1980 but have not renewed. At the moment I feel about as emotionally attached to the Club as I do to a pile of stinking dog poo.

That's over 4,500 ticket holders whose money they've lost out on. Add that to the fact that the majority of those tickets will be in the discounted North Lower and ticket revenue, even if they sell another 1,000, will be around 50% down this year.

    Next season there won't be a JBG, a Cousins, a Pope, a Lookman or AN Other to sell, their sponsorship value will fall and there ticket sales will likely further fall if we fail to get out of League 1.

    They will be down about £1m in season ticket revenue. Frankly if they had sold zero season tickets that wouldn't be their main problem, which is the catastrophic drop in central revenue (Sky/PL) of about £4m. The player sales are needed to offset last season's operating loss, even before they have to deal with this season's, which will be bigger because they will have much lower revenue and cannot cut costs by anything like the same amount. If the wages budget was £7m, for example, there is no way they can possibly cut it to £2m.

    It's such a difficult one at the moment. It's understandable for supporters to stay away until RD and co. are gone. But it's also understandable for people to continue to buy season tickets and support their club the best way they can.

    Russell Slade and his coaching staff plus the signings of Ajose, Holmes and Novak should be cause for optimism. But with the recent departures we now need to add to those signings very quickly to maintain any positive momentum.

    On the goalkeeping front, we aren't that desperate. Dillon Phillips is an excellent goalkeeper who is old enough to play. The next Elliot/Randolph. He can be No1, with Mitov and perhaps a loan signing or experienced keeper as competition.

    But we do need bodies in midfield and defence particularly, as well as perhaps another striker as you can't rely on only two senior strikers, even with younger strikers getting some game time there needs to be a third established forward.

    We've sold so many that they could've easily said 'by the end of this week'.

    The ticket office may well be otherwise too busy. If we've sold 5,500 then there are likely to be waiverers and late purchasers that will decide it's now time to buy a ST. Fans should pick which winnable battles they want to fight and the ST boycott was always going to be one that we ahould have collectively avoided because it's self-defeating. Committed Charlton fans will always want to go to watch the team whenever they can, it's what we do, it's what we've always done. At least we now know there is going to be at least 5,500 of us in the ground on a match day to support the team and voice our displeasure with the regime.
    Even with a few last minute purchases, the 5,400 + figure is a significant drop. The likely remaining sale of quality in the squad is not going to help either. Nearly 2 weeks to the start of the season and the squad is still thread bare and looking light, as per the Duchatelet & Meire normal practise. Its not going to help sales.

    To make a division and claim the title of committed Charlton supporter as one's that have renewed is just not right. So a supporter who has had a season ticket for many years, chosen not to renew because of being sick of the Duchatelet regime can't claim the title any more ? There's some great posts above about Charlton supporters not dividing themselves out between those who have chosen not to renew and those that didn't. Everyone has legitimate reasons that need to be respected. It is important for Charlton Athletic supporters to stay together, so that Duchatelet can sell up and take one of those offers that he keeps getting to sell the club.

    @letthegoodtimesroll you have repeatedly made this unfair accusation and then withdrawn it only to yet again repeat it on another thread. It is, and had been for a while, very tedious.
    Henry, I'm not saying that those that haven't bought a ST or won't be going are not committed fans. Fair play to anybody that can stay away but I'm just being realistic. For many of us, whatever shit has come the club's way over the years, I know we still keep going, no matter what. Staying away hurts us more than RD and KM because we are emotionally connected to the club, they're not.
    Yet again you withdraw the remark after making it. As I said, tedious.

    I'm consistent in my personal view that the call for a ST boycott was misjudged. At 5,500 and counting (because it probably will start to go up) then it's an easy PR victory for KM and she can make the claim that losing some fans was inevitable because we were relegated and everybody else outside of Charlton will believe her. If we hadn't been relegated then the fall off in ST sales would have made people sit up and take notice. CARD isn't going to win a financial pissing contest with RD, it's all going to be about selective PR.

    cant speak for CARD but that is pretty much what I expected and said so on here.

    A 45% reduction (at this point) is a HUGE success for the boycott IMHO.

    Not even the most optimistic CARD supported would have expected 100% or anything near it.

    I agree it will creep up to around or just under 7k by KO.

    I expect they have lumped in the several hundred complimentary season tickets (staff, players, officials, etc) and commercial seats to bump up the number. There is always a sales surge in the last three weeks. In 2011/12, for example, the club was selling 200 a week at this point. On that basis I'd don't think they will get near 7,000 by August 13th, although this is a pretty unusual situation and signings are always a factor.

    If they claim 6,500 season tickets at kick-off, you'd only expect 5,000-5,500 to turn up for any given game, especially with the £175 tickets. I'd expect a spike in match sales, but they were so very poor previously that 3,000 would be very good. They will dump a lot of comps early on.
