Charlton v Oldham - Post Match Views

Sigh.....

Awful result and what sounded like an even worse performance.

Grateful for people's views, but equally grateful if people could make a conscious effort not to just fill it with swearing.

I know some think it's petty, but thanks in advance.

Total and utter shit. Cannot string 2 passes together, no energy, no pace. Nothing.

I have no affliation with this team at all.

    Slade is inept.

    Top 6 budget my arse.

Roger Johnson said "If you don't f***ing like it don't f***ing come"

Dunno, didn't renew and couldn't muster the enthusiasm to bother getting a ticket for tonight.

  • But I thought it was the anti-regime songs that made us concede goals and lose games?

    How many times?

It was just so blindingly obvious to everyone in the ground that that was going to happen - how can't he see that?

It's too early to think about a sacking but Slade needs to buck his ideas up because that is just not good enough.

Thoroughly depressing. Empty stadium, no atmosphere and dross on the pitch.

We need our Charlton back because the club is unrecognisable to what it was. The scenes at the full-time whistle weren't pretty.

No passion , no desire , no clue.
Apart from the fact this was one of the dullest games I have ever seen at The Valley the performance was shocking .

Oldham were always going to equalise as were Wimbledon and Oxford. We can't defend and our midfield is so pedestrian it's not funny.

Negative football from Slade . Not good enough.

  • Top 6 budget my arse.

Wonder what Slade would do with a bottom six budget.

Plenty of booing audible on the commentary. And not just immediately the whistle blew. Sounded like it got upped as somebody walked off, presumably Slade.

    That's cruel........but appropriate.

Relegation odds for the first time, says it all.
  • I mean...does anyone really care anymore?

The way Slade sets out is just so dull I can't even bring myself to get upset, which could be the endpoint of the Belgians' evil plan. We went up against a team who hadn't scored in three games and still set out depressingly defensively. Two strikers and two wingers isn't the most gung-ho thing in the world but Slade can't even bring himself to take the shackles off against a team who offer basically no attacking threat. One of the worst things is despite our negative tactics we still can't keep the ball out. We have really good defenders and a crap defence, which means we must be doing something insane in training to be get to this stage.

Basically I'm bored a lot. If we were at least putting together attacking patterns of play we'd have something to build on, but we're a defensive bunch of bores who can't defend. What's the point?
  • Promotion my arse. Nowhere near good enough. Someone said on this board after relegation that they feared we hadn't reached rock bottom and it looks like they could be right. Sad. Really sad.

Not quite 20k empty seats, so there is still much work for the T20k group to do. Although I reckon after today's performance they might reach their target this coming Saturday

Would anyone actually be surprised if Fraeye was in charge at Christmas?
  • So much for turning draws to wins or six points from two homes. The club is dying on it's knees and there's barely anyone left to witness or care about it. It's very clear that we do not have a squad capable of mounting a promotion push. Given the sides we have already failed to beat, I'd take a guarantee of League One football next year now.
  • Abject performance. No one cared including the crowd. Bit of random booing at the end. Slade hid behind ref. Third division manager for third division team. Just a useful idiot for the useless idiot 1.5% of my time owner.
  • After 9 with Chris Powell in charge in L1 weren't we W7 D2 L0... not sure about after 10. He probably spent less also.

Please stop spending your money and time watching this guys, put both the aforementioned into getting this cancer we call RD from our Club.

Another solid point. Unbeaten in 3 and something to build on. Rochdale have hit a bit of form so we'd do well to pick up a draw on Saturday.

I don't think we sat deep enough or retreated to park the bus sufficiently and ultimately that is how we've been undone in the end.

We need to secure, protect and consolidate on Saturday if we're to establish ourselves as a solid league one mid table outfit.

Surely being a solid League One mid-table outfit is just an aspiration. Not really achievable.

even I am losing the faith .. CAFC looks fatally flawed from top to bottom .. bad team selections are only part of the problem .. having said that I go to most away games .. how do you explain ? .. we were trounced at Bury, now second in the table, got a well deserved point at leaders Scunthorpe, a good win at Walsall, a point at tough Fleetwood .. once again it's the home games that are the real problem .. do opposition teams raise their collective games or does our manager and players just keep bottling it through lack of confidence and commitment, the Valley, like last season has become a vale of doom .. anyway .. this can't go on otherwise the club will endure a slow cancerous death or at best a long period in intensive care

Appreciation to @Redmidland for the match thread. It can't be far off of having to provide the commentary to the execution of a loved one. I admire your perseverance.

I'm so very glad I stayed away. It sounds like a dreadful performance and an abysmal result.

The scary thing is that some will be celebrating the point, saying we are now on the up and urging others to now get behind Slade and his regime masters. That's the truly unacceptable thing. Wake up and smell the coffee for christ's sake!

Yeah, they are so bad we are now on level points with them.
