Bands that you would recommend. That aren't that well known now.

Although in their day might have been very well known, or not. But largely forgotten now. It's up to you. It's not a competition - just a way to get more good music in your life.

So I give to you;

If

May Blitz

The New Riders of the Purple Sage

Redbone

I have more but I'll leave it at that. I'm in the Bugle listening to If right now.

Not forgotten so much as up & coming. Wolf Alice. Got some poppy singles that a few will have heard, but their real gems are in the album tracks.

Good thread! Shall definitely check out a few bands listed thus far!

So many great 'lost' & largely unheard of bands out there, I could put so many.

For those that like expansive, widescreen, prog-esque rock:

Oceansize (UK - No longer in existence)
    Karnivool (AUS - Active)
    Shiner (US - Sporadically active)
    Dredg (US - Active)

Victory Red (UK - No longer in existence)
    Failure (US - Active)

    Indie Rock:

    Swervedriver (UK - Active)
    Mutemath (US - active)
    Six.By Seven (UK - Active)
The Afghan Whigs (US - Active)

    Electronically based/Infused:

    Soulwax (BEL - Active - Also as 2Many DJ's)

    TheStart (US - On hiatus)
The Notwist (GER - Still Active)

    Heavy/Heavier shit:

    Sikth (UK - Active)
    Earthtone-9 (UK - Active)
    Filter (US - Active)
    Soilwork (SWE - Active)
Opeth (SWE - Active - could also go into prig category)

Senser (UK - Active - also have electronic tendencies)

    Grunge/Grunge-ish

Injected (US - No longer in existence)
