I said we would lose 3-0 but my first watch of the season and I have to say that's by far the worst Charlton team I've have watched play since I've started going in 1985!!! Yes Holmes, Magennis and Lookman missing but there's no battle, Fight ,passion nothing at all!!!! Slade , KM and RD out!!!!!!!!!
Anyone know why we didn't postpone because on the international call-ups?
Good question. It appears that this game was scheduled for tv before we signed Botaka and Magennis. Apparently, that means we don't get to postpone. I'm not sure why signing players after a TV game is scheduled means they don't count as international players, but Rupert Murdoch is a very fair operator, so I'm sure it's all above board and in our interests. Make of it what you will, but Holloway mentioned it before the game and the Sky-bitch, George Gavin, got a little over-defensive about it. I'd suggest he knows Sky are out of order, but obviously can't allow any criticism like that to be broadcast.
Having said all that, Slade would probably have left Lookman and Botaka on the bench and stood there scratching his balls at the first sign of trouble, so I doubt we'd have done any better on any other given day.
Absolutely dire - genius stroke of Slade to play Ulvestad out wide for much of the game. Crofts just cannot play at this level anymore - you have to have central midfielders with some pace even at this level.
We won the league while lacking pace in midfield but made up for it with Wiggins pace at LB and goal threats up front and midfield. Problem today was we didn't have any pace or dribbling ability anywhere in the team.
so 2 subs to play with - what do you do with 20 mins to go when you are 2-0 down. I know - absolutely nothing. What a plank! The sooner he is sacked, the more chance we have of going up. I fear we'll leave it too late!
My first time watching the team this season and not at all impressed. Once again we have such a thin squad that losing some players leaves us very short of any quality.

I don't know why there didn't seem to be effort and battle today, for most matches this season the players have seemed relatively up for it.
The 3 missing players make a massive difference, as they've provided 95% of attacking impetus this season, and have been involved in virtually all our goals. I guess Slade hoped for a nil-nil or nicking a goal from somewhere, which was a very negative way of approaching the game. He would have expected a better defensive show though, as we've been tight at the back
Look at Solly tracking back for the 3rd goal. Jogs straight down the middle, with the left winger busting a gut to get in the box. Then has all the time in the world to put it where he wants.
I get that Slade's team selection was pretty limited given the internationals and Holmes' injury but that midfield selection was a joke. 4 central midfielders, 3 of whom are slower than Phil Chapple was never going to end well. I fail to see how/why a couple of the U23s couldn't step up for 1 game. It would've been better to have a couple of pacy kids who can at least get up and down the pitch than the drivel we had out there.
Yet again we don't pick Texeira and it's about time someone asked Slade why. If you're not allowed to pick him because of a rumoured appearance bonus that we can't/won't pay then tell us, and don't bother wasting a fucking squad space by sticking him on the bench when there's already 2 other centre backs on it!
That'll probably be the one and only time I'll get to see us this season and boy am I relieved!
Maybe a bit harsh to judge with all our creative players and by far our best forward away or injured, but dear oh dear that was bad.
The midfield was like watching at extended version of that Barclays advert for walking football.
The worrying thing is, it was blatantly obvious that a midfield comprising an ageing full back, an ageing defensive midfield, and a legless torso was going to struggle to do anything in the final third. Slade isn't allowed a massive amount of options with this squad, but for him to then overload the bench with more one paced defenders reducing any real option to switch it up just seems like bad management to me and hardly indicative he'd be able to do much better with different backers.
Was that performance a protest from the players on what is going on? Whilst I know this is all caused by RD, KM etc that performance is not good enough!
Slade and the players have to take responsibility for that. The bigger picture is the owners but that was shit from that group of players

Wow, if Chris is giving up......
And now please name the new manager.

Absolutely shocking performance.
I don't miss it!
