That was the sort of performance that gets managers the sack. An absolute affront to the 500 supporters who made the trip.

The absence of Holmes and Lookman was a major blow but it also brutally exposed Slade's limitations and his lack of ambition and tactical nous. The selection was utterly pedestrian - with four central midfielders - and we consequently resorted to our usual tactic of hoofball. That was never going to cut any ice with the lightweight Ajose up front (or, more usually, out wide), whilst Novak is better with the ball to his feet. Ajose also seems to be unable to read headed flick ons when Novak was, once in a while, actually able to win one against big central defenders. I fear that we've acquired a dud.

The team was littered with poor performances but a special mention for Crofts and for Pearce's defending at the second goal.

This team is going nowhere under Slade unless we lose Lookman in January and Holmes suffers an injury, in which case we're going to be looking over our shoulders.

Sadly, serving up this sort of garbage is only going to accelerate the shrinkage of our club and supporter base.

Did you go bluch or watch on tv? I know you go to a few so just curious? You and the others should be refunded if you did go

Here's what a grovelling egg sounds like:

    Blithering idiot.
What more exactly do you expect him to say?
I am a fat bald clueless prick way out of my depth ,here's my resignation
What did your manager say to that?
I expected that answer from Elfsborg as he loves stability so much
Don't let me start a thread on that!

We can have a laugh when O'Loughlin takes charge. His appearance last week was a prelude to his appointment, after the 31st December......
  • Maybe we can just hold on until Jan and get a new centre half in? We only have 6 after all!!! No Tex yet Pearce was totally missing for their 2nd goal. Bauer not much bettet for their 3rd or the free header he had at a corner. I did not expect much today but with that defence I did not see 3 goals coming against a team in the bottom 4. Rubbish.
  • with 15 minutes of 2nd half left of this afternoons games we currently sit 15th, 4 points outside relegation zone, 5 points from play offs and 17 points behind Scunthorpe. The spanners are winning 3-0 and have moved up to 9th 1 point off the play offs, and they are our game in hand...oh dear!!

  • And now please name the new manager.

    Johnny Jackson.

Clutching at straws. Not that I blame you for that.
  • First Charlton match for absolutely yonks ... Probably not seen them since we went up from div one last time around.

No chance of going up this season. On today's account they'd struggle in league 2.

Sideways, square, backwards, do it all again.

So many players too slow. But probably just coached too cautious. Nothing creative. Nothing much at all. Like I've been told and read. Though actually a lot worse than I've ever seen. And at this level, easily the poorest addix team I've seen in almost 40 years.

Hanlon, totally out of depth. Pearce - struggling from the off... pulling and pushing but hardly won a ball.

How many times did they win a header without challenge?Nearly every time. Absolutely appalling.

Lost for words. I didn't realise it had all got this bad.

See you at Bristol rovers in a couple of weeks. ...

Seeing as it's Millwall away i don't even consider it as a game in hand. Automatic loss.
  • And I was on the Swindon seats ... they were surprised how easy it was. They're not a great side.

  • Terrible performance but always going to be difficult without Holmes (class), Lookman (Premier league class) and Magennis (one of the signings of the summer).

He's dug the players out after the game, quite rightly, for their crap performances, but I don't think he's even realised that he set them up to fail from the start by not understanding how badly he's set the team up

However, it seems from the performance, that the players did understand how badly he'd set the team up.

  • Was at the game. Swindon had far more movement and wanted it more - lots of running and hassling when not in possession.

Charlton midfield not just physically slow, but also mentally. A few times Jackson was in good positions when playing at the tip of the diamond, if that's what it was in the first half, but the midfield/defence couldn't see it.

Ajose gives the air of a guy who knows his talent is being completely wasted due to a lack of creativity behind him.

Much of the attack seems to go down the left and Fox ends up having to deliver the killer ball, but he struggles to do this when put under pressure.

Bauer looked decent, but the defence overall looked shaky and made their no. 7 look like Lallana, when in reality he was not much more than a willing runner.

Some good comedy moments in the stand second half. If I were manager I'd spend a good amount of time emphasising to the players that they wasted the time of the 500 fans there, but, as someone mentioned earlier, are they behind him????

even with a weakened team that was unacceptable .. no fight, no pride, no pattern and a total lack of effort .. come January Novak must go and Foley ..

Despite our good defensive record so far this season, I have not been convinced .. this effort (or lack of it) reinforces my doubts .. lack of passion, grit and pace

Doesn't appear so. Everything about that performance today suggested the players want him gone. When Solly gives up there's not much hope for the rest.
  • final scores for today now in and we are only 3 points from the relegation zone as MK Dons won a point.
  • Who would win a 100m race out of Jackson or Solly?

To be fair Novak did alright, looked about the only one that could come close to creating something.
we were watching different games it seems .. BUT, then again, it's all a matter of opinion as well as being a game of 2 'alves .. in both of which the team was fucking awful, including Novak

Resigned to the inevitable and a lttle bit miffed. Couldn't summon the passion to be annoyed.
  • A little club like Swindon have managed to get sherwood in and we manage to get that fat useless lump of folded arms shit Slade. Bloke and his team are an embarrassment, our OAP midfield must be suffering with Alzheimer's because they didn't know what to do and walked around aimlessly, never been so fed up that was just shit.

A few people on this thread have mentioned Novak being the only one to come out of it with the slightest bit of credit. Though I agree the team was utterly dire throughout.

Slade says 'we didn't see it coming, we trained well', I saw it coming when i saw the team selection...including the substitutes.

We have no leadership, no talismanic presence, nobody to drive us on and take responsibility, nobody (beyond Holmes and Magennis) who decides it is their job to make a difference...and no inspiration from the manager or coach.

But it will all probably be blamed on the fans and the protestors.

This situation has been building since as long ago as early March, when a proper plan, and a radical change of culture was needed.

Still Roland was seen tucking into his dweeb burger watching the live stream on his Apple watch enhanced by Melixis processors no doubt. And Roland thinks it is a well run club.

    this sums it all up
