  • Overall we were extremely poor.
It shows how shallow we are without 3 key players, when we can be thumped by a relegation side - themselves missing a couple of regulars.

Our best player was Bauer (IMO).

Heaven knows what will happen if a side like that turns out at the toolbox in a month's time.

even with a weakened team that was unacceptable .. no fight, no pride, no pattern and a total lack of effort .. come January Novak must go and Foley ..

Despite our good defensive record so far this season, I have not been convinced .. this effort (or lack of it) reinforces my doubts .. lack of passion, grit and pace

To be fair Novak did alright, looked about the only one that could come close to creating something.
we were watching different games it seems .. BUT, then again, it's all a matter of opinion as well as being a game of 2 'alves .. in both of which the team was fucking awful, including Novak
A few people on this thread have mentioned Novak being the only one to come out of it with the slightest bit of credit. Though I agree the team was utterly dire throughout.
AND ..more than a few have said he was rubbish .. check the player marks .. I repeat .. it's a MATTER OF OPINION f f s
.. Alright calm down fella jeez

mush .. if I was any calmer I'd be dead .. now go play with the traffic

That was the sort of performance that gets managers the sack. An absolute affront to the 500 supporters who made the trip.

The absence of Holmes and Lookman was a major blow but it also brutally exposed Slade's limitations and his lack of ambition and tactical nous. The selection was utterly pedestrian - with four central midfielders - and we consequently resorted to our usual tactic of hoofball. That was never going to cut any ice with the lightweight Ajose up front (or, more usually, out wide), whilst Novak is better with the ball to his feet. Ajose also seems to be unable to read headed flick ons when Novak was, once in a while, actually able to win one against big central defenders. I fear that we've acquired a dud.

The team was littered with poor performances but a special mention for Crofts and for Pearce's defending at the second goal.

This team is going nowhere under Slade unless we lose Lookman in January and Holmes suffers an injury, in which case we're going to be looking over our shoulders.

Sadly, serving up this sort of garbage is only going to accelerate the shrinkage of our club and supporter base.

Did you go bluch or watch on tv? I know you go to a few so just curious? You and the others should be refunded if you did go
Happily, @cabbles , I watched this one down the local pub. At least there was some decent beer to ease the pain - unlike for the 504 who had to endure that diabolical performance.

First time I have watched this 'new team' this season and piss poor from all involved. No passion, no spirit, no skill, no determination and no efforts on target. I'm sure Katrien is extremely happy she travelled today. Roland will have given up watching at half time.

To be fair, it's hardly representative of the "new team" seeing that the best 3 attacking players are all missing
Doesn't mean that we can't keep a clean sheet which was never going to happen today.
  • Can't stop laughing at the latest update on Roland's live stream thread!
  • Key factors in the fragmentation of the club are an 18 with 3 CBs a LB and no midfielders. But our highly paid CB and a creative mf (Ba) can't get a look in. Nor any U23s. Why? Slade in not picking the best players available to him and is consequentally losing points.
  • Here's what a grovelling egg sounds like:

    Blithering idiot.
What more exactly do you expect him to say?
"I take full responsibility for that today, I got it wrong with my team selection"
So many bloody options and he chose wrong. Surely Lennon in goal and Rudd in midfield was so bloody obvious.

  • I've only been to one game this season, and watching that performance didn't convince me that I was missing out, was that the worst performance of the season so far?

Keep that up and will be in the relegation zone for Christmas, and nosediving into league 2.
  • Just got home to Norwich after taking bloody half hour to get out of the Outlet Centre car park and a further 20 minutes out of the Swindon traffic!! Shocking game but thanks go to those around me for the dark humour and a few laughs. It eased the pain (although the standard numbness tends to do that now anyway).
  • with 15 minutes of 2nd half left of this afternoons games we currently sit 15th, 4 points outside relegation zone, 5 points from play offs and 17 points behind Scunthorpe. The spanners are winning 3-0 and have moved up to 9th 1 point off the play offs, and they are our game in hand...oh dear!!

Bristol, milllllll and Bradford are our next three away games. What chance have we got with them if we get heavily beaten against the likes of Swindon.

  • Well I am not prone to swearing but that was utter horse shit.

Of course Brussel got the selection wrong but the shambles of a squad doesn't help.

    Embarrassing beyond belief.
  • This is how it will be. Enough wins ground out to keep us in the middle of the table, the occasional performance to give hope, but generally poor tactics and poor performances. In a season or two we will have grown accustomed to it and start getting excited if we break into the top six at any time. Well, those that are left will ...

  • And now please name the new manager.

    Johnny Jackson.

Jason Euell would be good with Jacko as assistant
  • Only positive for me was Novak when he dropped into midfield rather than dealing with hopeful punts. He seemed to have a football brain and a bit of creativity. May be useful at top of a diamond.

Yes a lovely ball for Solly who messed it up by pulling it back straight to a Swindon defender! !!
  • What a ridiculous day. Like an idiot booked our train tickets for a 3pm kick off (who puts charlton games on tv ffs) and got into the ground about half an hour into the game - just in time to see rudd watch the ball roll slowly past him to make it 1-0. Totally abject performance from us. No quality, no effort, no ideas. Could have sat there for six hours watching us punt aimless balls up to our hapless forwards and we still wouldn't have scored. Honestly don't even feel it when the goals go in these days. Ridiculous.
  • I don't actually remember Swindon kicking the ball long ! Always tried to play football but we still made them look like Barcelona!
  • I was one of the Charlton fans there today---Fanny,you have my sympathy as also do our fellow sufferers.
Slade is useless, bloody useless. How can he not motivate eleven players to at least put in a shift. Can he not realise that slow-paced play wins no games(unless RD has told him to obey his strict instructions on how best to play).
Sideways and backwards--we must be up there with the best of them.Going forwards,mmm--a big problem
trying to get the ball within that white wooden boundary. Too many players couldn't have cared less---indicative
of what they must feel about the cross-armed Slade who inspires no one.Just walk away Slade and give us the opportunity to appoint a young, hungry manager instead of a self-satisfied,inept,boring,tedious,apology for a manager.

A young hungry manager will not want to go to SE7, unless he wants a squirrel with her hand up his bottom dictating what comes out of his trap.
