Only positive for me was Novak when he dropped into midfield rather than dealing with hopeful punts. He seemed to have a football brain and a bit of creativity. May be useful at top of a diamond.9

Congrats on at least finding something. I was going to post that I could not find a single redeeming feature in that performance.harveys gardener said:Only positive for me was Novak when he dropped into midfield rather than dealing with hopeful punts. Ok that was awful.
But you can always take some positives out of a game. Except today as I'm desperately trying to think of one.
How about still 4 points clear of the relegation places?

Swindon were 2-1 in Hills. Lumped on that.
As for the "performance" yet again our midfield do very good impressions of Elephants wading through quick sand.
I honestly believe Slade has decided we can't get anything out of that due to missing players, so has told them not to bust a gut.
It was utter dross. Worst of the season by a mile.
Slade has served up some minging performances this season and it is difficult to pick a worst showing, but that wins it. Total insult to 500+ travelling fans.
Anyone else notice that he has adopted Latrine's smirk? It was there in full effect at the final whistle.
He is out of his depth and clueless. We are going nowhere with him in charge.3 -
Bloke getting caught showing his son the w*nker sign whilst on TV made me laugh.Fortune 82nd Minute said:Ok that was awful.

To be fair we were missing quite a few,
Magennis, Lookman, Botaka, Holmes, Kashi, the 2 midfielders we almost got across the line before the transfer window closed but ran out of time, Watt, Vet, Celebos, Tex, Roland.
Sure I am missing some others too.5 -
We could quite easily go somewhere with him in charge. League games at Newport are a distinct possibility2

Not true. We're going down to League 2.Clem_Snide said:Swindon were 2-1 in Hills. Lumped on that.

Yeah he did look better in the last 20 minutes, dropping deep and playing some decent passes as well as that decent knock down that no one got on the end of.harveys gardener said:Only positive for me was Novak when he dropped into midfield rather than dealing with hopeful punts. To be fair to him and Ajose, they're just lumped the ball and they're usually up against 3-4 opposition players. It's so easy for teams to leave one fullback and a holding midfielder behind, with their two center halves, and just mop up our long balls. We play such basic football.
It's why I think our debate about 1 vs. 2 up front is the wrong one to have, it's the type of football we play and our complete inability to build through midfield.2 -

Just logged in having forgot it was early kick off. I've just spent 4 hours walking round Stockholm in sub zero temperatures with wet feet. Bet I still feel better than those walking out after the game today. Just when you hope we've turned a corner it comes back to this.1

Our attacking play has generally revolved around Holmes or Lookman producing a bit of individual magic, very few goals this season have been team goals, where good interplay and passing involving several players creates a chanceSDAddick said:

Hence without them, we look toothless and short of ideas1 -
Got to feel for the fans who travelled and paid to watch that rubbish.4

Also worth noting that Vetokele has played 11 games for Zulte Waregem - 0 goals, and Tony Watt has played 12 games for Hearts - 1 goal.1 -
A steaming pile of dog shit. That is all.0

50 quid on two tickets to watch that utter shower of shit. No pride in the shirt anymore.
There was a break of play at 2-0 and Swindon came in to get water together, our lot just stood still on the pitch on their own, no attempt by Slade to call them in for a chat or offer any encouragement, says it all really.
Time to worry.1 -
You know what the saddest thing is, I just don't care any more. After supporting Charlton for 59 years I find that I just don't care any more. This what this regime has done to me. Sad just bloody sad.6

Be patient everyone!2

Novak and Ajose have no chance in this team.2

Oh dear, watched on TV and we had nothing.
OK, we were missing our attacking threat but we let in three goals and it could have been more.
Nothing excuses such a poor performance or such a negative team selection.3 -

Sue Parkes will blame the disgusting anti-Roland songs and say we must be careful what we wish for, without Roland it would've been 5-0.2

Have we bottomed out yet or is it going to get worse still ?1

Swindon look like a team that will always try to pass the ball whoever is in the team.
Under Slade our football seems to be all about being solid at the back and relying on 2/3 key attacking players. If we can pass the ball we will, if we can't find the space we don't know what to do. If we go long we're not very good at winning it or even getting the second ball.
It made us look so limited. They might be League One players but so are the opposition. I don't usually blame coaching clubs like Brighton and Swansea have had managers that get teams at this level passing and moving. Peterborough used to score a lot of goals in this division.
Any team in this league will find it hard missing their main attacking players but a lot of it is down to Slade's style of football. We have found scoring goals a problem all season. As I said it's all about getting the ball to our main 2/3, without them there's nothing going forward.5 -

Roland still sticking his beak in??1 -
Surely we can't get relegated again... can we? I keep banging on about us being 7/4 for a bottom half finish, but what a price that looks now.1
