People are 'whinging' as you put it because they are sick and tired of seeing the club sinking further and further week after week because of ineptitude on and off the pitch.
Yes I complained heavily about Slade's football, and yes I'm going to complain just as much about his incompetent replacement - deal with it.

When Fraeye was sacked, Charlton were a plural noun:

Now they just can't be bothered and the truth is that the one individual who for this purpose is wearing the alias Charlton Athletic, has today parted company with Brussels.2 -

Honesty is - unsurprisingly - the best way forward for the club. Despite the lack of it so far, which is what does make this approach surprising.

Carrying on my earlier thread, it makes no sense. We can't get any more players in untill Jan, many have posted on here that the youngsters aren't quite ready yet, and Slade has recognised this. Sure he could be criticised for not seeing this in the last transfer window, but we are where we are.
The defensive style of play recognised this, and it was not fans wanted to see, but it was covering up the deficiencies in the squad.
Any new manager coming in will be faced with the same constraints, and I can't see them doing any better.
We should have stuck with Slade, given him at least another transfer window, and then made a judgement.
This is a crass decision, pathetic in my opinion, and has strengthened the campaign that the present owners now need to leave.10 - Sponsored links:

Duchatelet is the problem not Slade, who is just a symptom of the toxicity of our club. Ok, the football was uninspiring.
I have zero confidence of our failed leaders finding a good manager willing to work with them. So they should have stuck with him imo.
In fact i'm starting to loose interest in who the tospots sack next.
At least I managed to have my say on Talksport this evening, warning about our dear CEO -she is part of the problem. Was anybody listening I wonder?5 -

They are talking about promotion ? It is fantasy land, the lack of depth in the squad & that midfield. The disfunctional way these chumps run the club. They never take any effing responsibility for anything. I was hoping the line about no further statements was just a teaser, and then Roland would unleash a cracker - a statement that causes more offence to cabbies than Uber, a statement that even has the local Imam feeling sorry for plastic pigs, a statement that the "Kick It Out" campaign has to comment on due to it's offensive to "Black and White" scarves.
Sadly I fear Roland is currently handcuffed in a dungeon somewhere, begging for a keyboard like a recovering addict begs for crack.
What we need now is the king of enablers. Someone who will give him that keyboard and say "Roland, it'll take the pain away. Roland, it just one little statement. Roland, you know you want too"...7 -

We all know that sacking the manager a third of the way through the season is par for the course for Duchatelet, although I thought that Slade would probably last until Christmas or thereabouts when we were completely adrift from the leading clubs. We'll shortly - probably very shortly - have our eighth new manager/head coach in 32 months meaning that, excluding three pre-seasons, they last on average about three months.
It's one hell of a way to run a railroad. This latest sacking will, quite rightly, bring further derision on the club from the world of football and lower our reputation even further (if such a thing is possible). It leaves Meire looking completely and utterly ridiculous following her homily on TalkSport about "turning the corner", although I expect she'll continue to brazen it out as usual, rather than doing the decent thing and resigning. It all smells like another knee-jerk decision from Duchatelet. You just knew that someone was going to have to pay for the interruption of his Saturday lunch - and there was I thinking that 'Roland's Revenge' was a beer you could buy up the White Swan.
Slade was an unimpressive and uninspiring manager and he was, I believe, underachieving with the players at his disposal, recognising that we were only 16 games in. He was, however, dealt a tough hand and I well remember his interview after the Orient pre-season friendly, two weeks before our opening game, when he correctly stated that we were "miles away" from being ready. The squad was (and is) hopelessly unbalanced and, whilst Slade has got a lot of stick for the signing of Crofts and Foley, the truth of the matter is that he was shopping in Poundland in attempting to replace Cousins and Diarra. I suspect that the signing of Pearce may also have come back to haunt him, given that we find ourselves overloaded in that position (due in no small part, of course, to the long and expensive contract given to Teixeira last January by our esteemed CEO).
The club's thanks to Slade "for his tireless work during his time at The Valley, particularly the processes and disciplines he has instilled at the training ground", looks like a paradigm example of damning someone with faint praise although, given the incompetence of the SMT, it may simply be ineptitude on their part. Quite how Duchatelet expects the new bloke to do any better is a mystery, particularly as we can't freshen up the squad for another six weeks. I expect that Slade is probably relieved to be out of it, although I can't imagine that he'll have the last two and a half years of his contract paid up; there's more likely to be a 12 month compensation cap.
It looks from what Rich Crawley and Airman are posting that the next incumbent will be one Chris O'Loughlin. It's been suggested that he's still on the Network payroll, which is bound to appeal to Duchatelet. With experience in Belgium and Botaka's homeland, DR Congo, what could possibly go wrong ?
