Was at the game. Typical end of season, going through the motions performance. Nothing to report. Holmes livened up towards the end, Konsa was solid and Jacko should've taken the penalty. Sell the club.
Anyone chat to Katrien on the train home? I was going up north but spied her hiding amongst some apologists on the platform.1 -
As I left home Tommy said "we'll win 2-1", and scoffed at my 3-3 prediction.
Nice walk from the station to the ground (sorry about that ultras). Tidy, modern stadium, perfect for crowds under 10k.
It was all a bit lacking in passion for obvious reasons. No one played brilliantly, no-one played that badly, although again Dasilva and Holmes stood out. Pearce also, as he has presence, and marshalls his defense Terry style. Magennis won more headers than I've ever seen him win.
Botaka played quite well, and should have had another assist.
Great to hear 'Jimmy Seed's red & white army' being sung. More please!
Felt a bit sorry for Chesterfield. Hope they bounce back.
Poor pen miss though. Should have been JJ's.6 -

Pretty boring end of season game really. As said by others no one really shone. A half decent team would have absolutely battered Chesterfield today as they were awful. We have a long way to go to be a top 6 side. Happy with the win but was all a bit meh.2

Interesting day out in the county of Derbyshire
Firstly the good people of Chesterfield are by far the friendliest and most hospitable people I have every meet following Charlton my favourite team.
Arrived at 12-15 parked at ground and was robbed of £7. I was literally parked outside away turnstiles closer then the coaches.
Walked into town via club shop and was stopped several times to be asked about protests at Charlton and were we going to throw pigs this week. One old chap I actually thought we might need to take him to the pub as he wouldn't shut up.
Headed for a recommended pub but ended up in town centre pub where we ate hansomly for £13.40 for two, including drinks. Average age of customer circa 80.
Back to ground to witness one of the dullest games in a long time, not actually poor, just dull. Sorry I was middle, at back and thought atmosphere was largely poor. We have too many, fans saying "I don't agree with all this Roland out nonsense, be careful what you wish for. Better the devil you know blah blah blah" FFS
Anyway at least on the way home I didn't need sports report on the radio as I had the two ladies behind me all game discussing what was happening everywhere else except the Proact Stadium.
Oh on top of that if the dirty bastard next to me farted once he did it a thousand times.
Loved the penalty at the end, pure farce. Aparrently according to Sue Parks Jake missed because we booed him. She was at a different game surely
I only heard fans imploring Jacko to take it. Sorry if we put you off Jake. Bless.
All in all shit game great day out, back in Bexleyheath at 8/30 fantastic drive up and back
Last game this year see you all in August
All the best TTT

Finally we have the measure on the league we are in. Next season we will see the fruits of Roland and Katy's 3 years hard graft. Promoted by Christmas, 138 points by the end of next April.
I thank the lord we have a wealthy visionary and an astute business woman leading us to the promise land and greatness.
I shall attend next weeks game just to voice my appreciation of great leader and dear leaders guidance through the past 3 years transition from respected football club to laughing stock lower league 3 club.10 -

Jacko should have taken the pen
So annoying watching Millwall stumble over the line, and they will probably go up

To all the doubters, Tarby told us that the rest of Div1 were waiting for us to charge up the league and we have.3

Best such positive news is reiterated though.0 -
Thought Konsa was dreadful. At fault for 2nd goal and nearly cost us a couple of times in the first half.... ??The Red Robin said:Was at the game. @The Red Robin I think Konsa has shown much more promise in midfield. Thought Da Silva had a good game and A Grant showed some of the early promise he had from a few seasons back. Will be a real challenge to hold on to Ricky Holmes. That's me done for the season, 13 away games, 2 wins, Brizzle R and yesterday, far too many draws and some real soul destroying defeats at the Spanner and Shrews, all L1 grounds completed. If no change then I will maintain my absence from The Valley. Hopeful of a few new grounds but not many.... Will be a real push to see us next season... #ROLANDOUT #BEQUIETSUEPARKES5

Konsa is only 19, and has been played all over the pitch, which can't help his positional awareness. At this stage of his career he's still very raw, yes he clearly "looks" quite a quality player (in the way Gomez caught the eye) but he's a long way off the finished article

Don't think you can compare Gomez and Konsa at all. Gomez oozed class, Konsa is ok at best.4
-
Konsa is fine but has just had a dip in form. It's been an excellent season for him because he's gone from U23s to being in the 1st Team squad almost every week and has a host of Premier League scouts watching him.
If he can fill out a bit, he could easily make a decent midfielder but is more likely to settle at centre back.1 -
I was really impressed with No. 39, young lad.
Overall game, think we were lucky to win.0 -

Throughout the season the media have ‘reported’ the interest of top premier league clubs in Ezri Konsa, but I have struggled to see the potential implied by this interest. I realise he is young and so there’s plenty of scope for development, but at the moment I see a player lacking two essential qualities needed by a central defender: strength and dominance in the air. He is also very static when in possession, making it easy to press him and leading to his often being caught in possession. I’d be surprised if we lose him in the summer.
After talking down Konsa I should talk up Crofts. He doesn’t seem to be much liked by supporters, but the role he has now been given to shield the back four is tailor-made for him. I have seen the last two away matches (Coventry and Chesterfield) and for me he has been the stand-out outfield player.
One more comment on players. Jay Dasilva’s physical height is 5 foot 4, but when he jumps for the ball he grows considerably. At Shrewsbury he out-jumped someone who must have been about a foot taller. This was so surprising that I began to think I had imagined it. However, yesterday at Chesterfield his extraordinary elasticity when leaping was on display again.

Completely disagree re Konsa. I think he's definitely got the class and will develop into a very good player. His best position may be shielding the back four or as a sweeper in a back 3.KHA said:Throughout the season the media have ‘reported’ the interest of top premier league clubs in Ezri Konsa, but I have struggled to see the potential implied by this interest. Agree about Crofts though. He's been very dependable in that role and hasn't let us down. I'd certainly give him another year even if it's to be as a squad player. We could do a lot worse.3 -
If anything it should improve him as a player, learning a few positions. Doesn't do the Dutch any harm.killerandflash said:Konsa is only 19, and has been played all over the pitch, which can't help his positional awareness. It's really hard though to learn your trade if you're continually being moved around the pitch. It's not as if he's been playing as the holding midfielder in the previous games, as he was further forward, often in attacking positionsThe Red Robin said:

This is also 100% correct, but he was an accident waiting to happen yesterday.killerandflash said:Konsa is only 19, and has been played all over the pitch, which can't help his positional awareness. Still a real prospect
