    Yep, and it isn't always very competitive though England, Australia and India have some very good players. Elyse Perry for Australia is probably one of the best

    They get up to about 70mph. Fastest ever was about 80 I think?

    You think I didn't know that? Sri Lanka at that time had their best ever crop of players, I don't think the management of Bayliss and Farbrace would have made much difference.

    So they had their 'best ever crop of players' and he couldn't add much but he's never 'managed a top Test team'?

    Depends what you call a top test team. Sri Lanka in my opinion are not one and in that era their dominance was in the white ball game which I have acknowledged is the Baybrace speciality. Our Test record in the last two years is pretty crap, that is the point and I don't see what this management team has done to successfully change that.

    Hmm, so this is the KP who basically now plays nothing but T20, offering to play for SA in 2 years time...I'm sure they'll be desperate to bring him on board...

    Let's not forget that KP didn't play in the IPL because he was "tired" so that two months a year is clearly an exhausting one. Or was it because he knew no one was going to bid for him? I see he didn't field yet again yesterday - another example of his arrogance how he thinks he is bigger than the game itself.

    What a contrast to someone like Sangakkara in terms of what he brings to the dressing room and how to carry yourself. He will be weeks short of 40 when he retires in a couple of months and is still keeping. He averages 57 in Tests and 42 in ODIs (has played an unbelievable 404 matches against KP's 136). And this season he is the top run scorer in the County Championship with an average of 108.6.

    Sangakkara is everything that is right in cricket. KP (though I loved him when he first got into the England team) is everything that is wrong

    To balance this out a bit, whilst I agree about KP's arrogance, you also cannot disagree that he was an incredible batting talent , and genius's like that in all forms of life generally come with a flaw of some sort.
    I must admit , he provided me with probably the most astonishing batting display i have ever seen ,in 2005 at The Oval with his 176 when we were in trouble - it was an incredible innings considering the importance of that day against a fantastically talented team. Even more so than Stokes's 200 at Cape Town which was just a slogathon in a (relatively) unimportant game.
    Even today, when I watch the highlights of that Test on Sky, it gives me tingles.

    No Stoneman. Just heard it on the radio. Malan also in squad - I suspect he will replace Dawson

    I don't quite understand. Westly and Malan in the squad but not stoneman.

    From being told categorically by Bayliss and Root that if they were to pick an extra batsman for the squad it would have been Stoneman then 2 weeks later they pick 2 new batsmen neither of whom are Stoneman.

    I guess they want to continue with Jennings opening and so want someone who will for in at 3 and a slightly more attacking player so Malan for a the bill. Westly is an opener and has not done better than Rocky this year.
