So glad he got to finish up like this. Very few players get to retire on their own terms at a club they love5

What a man, what a captain - he represents everything this great club is about.
Thanks, JJ - your place in the history of our wonderful club is secure.8 -

I will be sad to no longer hear in the announcement of the team:
"No. 4: Johnnie Jackson!"
And, who will dare to ask for the revered No. 4 squad number?2 -
As the great man alluded to - There is a fitting end to this.2
-
He's never played at Wembley. Let's at least give him a chance to be on the bench there.1

Jacko’s cousin wrote this yesterday, worth a read

Arise Sir Johnnie Jackson... sterling service and will join the Charlton pantheon in my eyes. If for nothing more than for showing utter professionalism and leadership in the entire 8 years he’s been here including the last 4 years of shite which can’t have been easy.2
-
Johnnie Jackson took on the mantle of the conduit between the fans and the management over the last 4 years when this car crash of a football club under Duchatelet was in danger of being written off.
When JJ said he had learnt from all the managers/head coaches he had served under he probably means how not to do things as well as the positive aspects of man management, training drills and tactics.
8 years at one football club in the modern era is a lifetime but let's hope that new owners have the football acumen as well business acumen to see that Johnnie Jackson's tenure at Cafc is not over, and the Skipper is integral to the new beginning, with Lee Bowyer who has matured from the enfant terrible into an astute young coach who is bringing his years of playing top grade football to our club.
Roland OUT and Bowyer and Jackson IN.0 -
Just a shame that more fans couldn't be bothered to stay behind and applaud one of the best and most inspirational players (and I don't mean just ability-wise) this club has ever had.... as JJ said "See you all at Wembley!"4
-
Here's an idea for anyone who cares to listen...
Try to arrange a pre-season friendly with Spurs at The Valley, and make it a Johnnie Jackson testimonial game?2 -
There are lots of cultural things we inherit from the US and I dislike most, but one I would like to see is a shirt number being retired. JJ's No.4 should not be used again as a mark of respect to him for all that he has done for our club, his love of Charlton and his perfect fit with the fans.0

Didn't even realise he played for Coventry.0
-
Neither did I so checked his career record.
While at Spurs he was on loan at Coventry and also Swindon, Colchester, Watford and Derby.
He then played for Colchester, Notts County and finally us.1 -
Still feel it is a shame he didn't register as a player this season.
Surely he could have managed twenty minutes here and there. It could have made a difference at the Stadium of Light.5 - Sponsored links:

Johnnie Jackson's legs had gone.................
at 21 but despite this he had another 14 years with his best years at CAFC.
Still remember Colin Walsh getting stick from a few morons after going on a couple of seasons too long.0 -
even the OS is laughing at this thread now

There is a short interview with Jacko on this week's 'The Totally Football League Show ' podcast. Be forewarned though, if you do choose to listen, Karl Robinson is on before him so you may want to skip through that bit!
