The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

Because he is Roland? Remember, we are only a tiny cog in his empire - he probably thinks about Charlton for a nano-second each week, he's far too busy making money from his other (profitable) businesses. If he is advised by his financial people that there is a chance of making more money if we get promoted who do you think he's going to listen to. As fans we are too emotionally involved and find it hard to comprehend Roland's seeming intransigence when it comes to selling the club. Do you honestly think he is concerned about us or the future of our wonderful club? Money mate and nothing else is what motivates this particular sociopath. The sooner we all accept that the better.MuttleyCAFC said:Why take the risk?

Sunderland takeover.0

I really hope that we'd dedicate more than five minutes of singing to him, regardless of whether he's there or not. It's our best chance of a public protest and might (though somehow I doubt it) get the message across that it's not just about results.stonemuse said:

Maybe the Australians and RD have agreed a price in both situations (promotion or not).
Now they're waiting till the end of the season before completing.1 - Sponsored links:

Bloody hell, even Sunderland have been sold now. Surely we have to be next if that basket case can find a buyer0

If someone smiles on us and we get promoted it will be more by good fortune and pure chance circumstance that Bowyer got the crack at it when he did.Airman Brown said:
Nobody did argue that, but the management set-up remained incompetent as the accounts and the league table set out in vivid detail. This season has been marginally better but the main reason is the further unwinding of any Belgian influence on the football side. One central plank (I use the word advisedly) remained unchanged - too much reliance on too many inexperienced young players.DOUCHER said:
You've definitely become more prickly after the last year of printing dud info but don't start on me - it was cardigan claiming no change in strategy yet here we are on the verge of the play offs with no network players, another British manager and a British scouting set up - of course, he could have thrown more money at it last year and this ideally but only the most pig headed would argue no change in strategy since relegationAirman Brown said:
So you spotted they had appointed a British manager and signed British players, which was obvious to everyone? The problem was that they were useless at that too, which some people couldn’t grasp.DOUCHER said:
It'll be there somewhere - around the summer everyone was rounding on me coz i said there had been a change in strategy, ditching of the network idea to try and get promoted, and I was told I was a beard or something by cardigan boy who was adamant there was no change.alangee said:
Can you point to the post where you said this two years ago?DOUCHER said:Lets not get worked up about him not selling - all is going in line with what I was told after relegation - and what I said on here - 2 seasons to get us back up but a sale regardless after those 2 years - seen nothing to think that isn't going to be the case
I hope we do go up but that is by no means guaranteed and finishing fifth or sixth after the vast amounts of money spent by L1 standards remains a poor overall performance.
There is absolute no calculation or successful strategy that can be credited anyway to the owner. He is paying costs per month credit to that but beyond that there is absolutely nothing to credit him with,
Despite the oddball's Turing delusions of grandeur he is no genius, certainly not when it comes to football. There was no strategy behind the fact Karl Robinson left when he did affording Bowyer the chance to grab the squad by the scruff of the neck and turn our season around and maybe give us a bit of fortune that has been substantially missing for the last few years.
What successful professional club in world football these days anywhere thinks that operating without a permanent manager, an FD a CEO is a game changer and recipe for success? None of them.
If we get promoted it is IN SPITE of the Belgian and the complete disease his ownership has been to our club and testament to what a remarkable job Bowyer will have done (and has done hitherto regardless of the remaining game(s)).
Anyone who thinks this is part of some masterplan, divine intervention or strategy by a pillock in Belgium needs to stop sniffing glue for ten minutes and look at the reality of what the situation is.43 -
If we cast our minds back Robbo was trying to leave and Roland wouldn't let him so he delayed the resurgence Bowyer and JJ have given us. Fortunately for us, they were the cheap option.3
