That’s a strange one. When a manager asks to speak to another club, there isn’t any coming back from that. If I was a Derby fan, I’d want him out the door after that.
Jack Ross current St Mirren manager is being heavily linked with the Sunderland job.
Their new owners said recently that they'll have the biggest League One budget by a mile, the biggest budget ever seen in this division... I wish our own takeover had been done a season earlier!
The new owners should've been a little more discreet with that announcement. Obviously nice to give the fans a boost, & talk up plans after 2 bad seasons, but I think they've set themselves up for some overpaying situations there.

You suggest that if, and when we get taken over our new owners will be "splashing the cash" what happens if they are not keen to spend money and want to rely on youth and loans?

Thus setting themselves up for a massive egg on face situation if the don’t go up.

I don't see any other big clubs in the division next season.
Besides we have a big budget, and look where we finished in comparison to Shrewsbury! Or where Sunderland finished in related to Millwall last season...

Yeah but 90% of it is going on Jack Rodwell's wages.
Good that Sunderland are trying a young up and coming manager, but a massive risk, going from a small club with little pressure to a large club, expected to get promoted immediately, and with a dysfunctional squad

...but thats exactly the scenario he found at St Midden. He saved them from relegation last year, then assembled a workmanlike squad to achieve promotion this year.
He was interim manager at Dumbarton for a few games and got our first win in the league and then acted as assistant and many attribute our great escape that year to his influence. Personally, I'm not too sure that he's all that, because we improved again after he left. It seems that many English clubs are looking for the new Fergie (remember that Katrien?) and he fits a similar profile with the crucial exception of winning a European trophy against Real Madrid.
He was a PFA rep so presumably has decent contacts. A lot will depend on SAFC's patience. He'll be a (relatively) cheap sacrifice if they have a bad start next year, but certainly has the potential to revive them.
Would be interesting. Just been announced as part of the BBC team for Russia, Surely if he gets Derby job he would have to stop that
Not really... Be a free scouting mission for him
Really, How many world cup players could they get.
If I was a Derby fan I would be fumimg that our new manager was spending 5 weeks of the transfer window, reporting on matches for the BBC and not sorting our squad out

Don't forget Reza played in the last World Cup Paulie, some of the lower ranked nations will have Championship standard players
Got about 20 players from the Championship at the World Cup this year... Easy place to go looking for players this summer.
Also remember Feghouli signing for West Ham during Euro 2016 when Bilic was working as a pundit for ITV as they asked him about thr signing as was confirmed during one of the games he was covering

Would steer clear of Derby if I were him, all of the noises coming out of there, are of reduced budgets etc - sounds like the owner has been burnt one too often!
If Lampard had any sense, he'd get himself a coaching role miles out of the limelight and learn about the lower leagues there, as lets face it his experience of life outside the PL is zero.
Of course that is never going to happen, as all of the ex England players think that they have a divine right to manage at the top level, despite having no experience.
It must drive the likes of Eddie Howe, Sean Dyche and Neil Warnock potty to see these big name players walk into big jobs with no experience of the role.

Sorry at 1st I thought it was a put down as in i clearly have nothing better to do than look at news and post it on here

Looks like Graham Potter (Ostersunds) is going to become Swansea Manager
Definitely his best chance of promotion, I imagine Stoke will be one of the favourites for promotion, so more pressure on him than his previous roles
Potter is more of a gamble, though good to see someone like him being given a chance at a decent level
