The Takeover Thread - Duchatelet Finally Sells (Jan 2020)

I want nothing to do with Usmanov and his ill begotten money.

Given the last 4 years of decline, i think you might well be in the minority there

Anyone know where Usmanov is from.

I think its Russia but not sure

Heard he is Bulgarian

An uncle Bulgarian?

The proof is all there, glasses, tartan

According to this site https://footballtransferleague.co.uk/sources/newspapers since summer 2006 The Daily Mirror has printed 11,026 "rumours and 2,417 of them have been right. A strike rate of 21.9%. Which is not very good. By any standards.

What's quite interesting though is that their "success" rate is much better for some clubs, eg Burnley 40.2% and Bournemouth 32.6% than they are with most other clubs. My guess would be that the Mirror journos have decent sources at those clubs but absolutely no ITK contacts whatsoever at Brighton were they manage a truly abysmal failure rate of 87.2%.

In short, I'm not holding my breath.

Let’s put this to bed.

Alisher Usmanov is the 37th richest man in the world. He’s not going to buy Charlton. As of last year he was worth $19.6 Billion.

I suspect that his proposed investment in Everton has hit a snag and he’s put out this ridiculous rumour to apply pressure up in Liverpool.

As you were.

Includes Bowyer's takeover musings.

"Lieven De Turck has has been representing Charlton in recent takeover talks with an Australian consortium, and supporters’ groups are angry that Duchatelet will dodge the meeting, although manager Lee Bowyer has said the club could be sold in the next week.

Bowyer, who was named as Duchatelet’s ninth permanent manager yesterday after six months in a caretaker role, told Standard Sport: “I spoke to him [Duchatelet] and he did mention the takeover. His words were, ‘It could happen within the next week but I’ve been thinking that for a long time’. It will get done."

I could win the lottery tomorrow

I could grow an extra 3 inches on my cory overnight

I could go on....

If I could step in here, there was a slot on Radio 5 yesterday about penal extension and the most someone can get is between 1 and 2.5 cm so I think you’re being a little optimistic with 3inches

Says Mr Dick

Same story rehashed nearer to Everton.

I think the Liverpool Echo is part of the Mirror group of papers, so it's just cut and paste from the parent paper.

Is Usmanov really going to be the best man for the job of new owner?

Being from the Soviet Union he's more used to building walls than knocking them down

Could also be said of American Presidents

Doubt Usmanov has even heard of us.
