  • John Sheridan has left Carlisle... Seems he's about to be appointed Chesterfield Manager

    How weird.

Leave a side chasing promotion to League 1 for a side fighting against relegation from the national league
  • Must be something gone on behind the scenes there. Maybe he was refused money for new signings or something?

Chesterfield are probably a bigger club though and definitely in a nicer part of the country.

he was at the Spireites before .. another manager who's motto is 'wherever I lay my hat, that's my club'
  • I taught Sheridan’s children. The school is in Wakefield. I had a conversation with him maybe 10 years ago at a parents’ evening. He was at Oldham and said he hated the journey there. As far as I know the family home is still around here. So I wouldn’t be surprised if that’s an issue.
I work with the wife of his assistant manager so I’ll get the lowdown Monday.
  • And he never scored the goal that took Leeds back to the top division.
  • Tommy Wright is staying on at Carlisle as caretaker. JS moved for increased salary, which I’m surprised about. So I got it completely wrong :grimace:
  • Gary Rowett sacked by Stoke City.
STOKE CITY have terminated the contract of manager Gary Rowett.

Members of his immediate coaching staff have also left the bet365 Stadium.

The Club would like to thank Gary and his staff for their efforts over the past eight months.

A new managerial appointment will be made as swiftly as possible but in the meantime Rory Delap, Kevin Russell and Andy Quy will take charge of first-team affairs.

No surprise there as it was pretty clear the knives were out for him.

But what a fall from grace. From doing superbly at Birmingham, he has bombed at Derby and now Stoke. (And done himself no favours the way he engineered his move to Stoke). Will be interesting to see if he gets another chance somewhere else or falls off the managerial roundabout a lot earlier than others do.

  • Stoke until recently weren't a "sacking" club, both Pulis and Hughes had long spells there

Looking at the table, Stoke are still only 8 points below Derby and the playoffs
  • Wonder who Stoke think they can get thats better than Rowett?

He's not won promotion from the Championship before but is there really anyone better available? - Jokanovic?

If only we had a source so we could beat the bookies : - )

According to Talksport Moyes is the front runner.

good call .. he seems to be a 1 or 2 season wonder but the priority for the free sex foive people must be an immediate, if not sooner, return to the prem

That is an anagram of french manager Leslie Desamapray

    lump on people.
  • Nathan Jones being mentioned for the Stoke job. Could do us a favour of he leaves Luton.

That would be an exciting choice, rather than going for one of the usual tired names. I imagine the failure of Paul Hurst at Ipswich would be a cautionary warning though

Can he manage at Stoke on a cold rainy night in January though?
  • Nathan Jones now the bookies favourite.
