Peterborough v Charlton - Post Match Views

Solid point at a top six rival, but for a poor Grant penalty it should have been the three points. With Barnsley and Luton both winning, will it cost us?

Thoughts on the game / performance?

The most half assed penalty from a player who knew he was leaving

    Yeah, nice one.
  • Fair result... Neither team had the quality to score today with both having excellent opportunities to win it

Felt that Grant led the line alone really well yet was extremely impressed with Hackett-Fairchild's cameo (maybe his Charlton career isnt quite done yet, especially as he'll probably be playing next Saturday if we cant find a replacement for Karlan) - Purrington had a much better game than last week and for the most part kept Marcus Maddison extremely quiet

Sarr and Bielik were the standouts

Fair result given the circumstances, shame about the penalty miss !

I don’t think he missed because he is leaving. He missed because he misses lots and lots of chances

    (1) He didnt miss; 'keeper saved it
    (2) He's taken four penalties this season, scored three / missed one

With Williams and Reeves behind him, he should have scored more.

    Unfortunately wasn't our day.

Would have taken a point before the game because I feared how poor we'd be without Taylor. Those fears were well and truly confirmed. We desperately need another striker, as soon as went to 2 up top we dominated.

A fair few sub average performances across the park, a more clinical side would have nicked all three points off us today.

If Grant is off then what a shit performance to leave on. That penalty was so bad it was almost funny. Reeves dead ball skills left an awful lot to desired too, how many wasted opportunities to just get the ball in the box.

'Not that great' overall, will see that as 2 points dropped come the end of the season.

Thought Reeves gave us spark again. Most of our dead balls were taken by Cullen

Frustrating that Karlan missed his penalty.

Taylor's missed a few too this season too before everyone jumps down Grant's throat.

It will be a shame though if he (Karlan) leaves us with a missed penalty as our last memory of him.
  • Is Grant really leaving though? When did he last score from open play? Do Huddersfield really think he is going to step up to the Premier league level and save them from relegation?

They just want him to help keep their unbeaten run going!

We would have won if we only took 500 there.

Good game that, for a nil nil. Two decent sides trying to win.

Crap pen from Grant, looked nervous, not sure it was the correct decision by the ref anyway. Ref was terrible all game though, think the booking of Williams was about the only thing he got right all match.

Williams good in patches but faded. Pratley I barely knew he was playing. Looked very disjointed first half and uncomfortable with the formation. Got on top once we changed back to the diamond and brought Reeco on. Reeco was very good, in fact. Maybe if that change had been 10 minutes earlier we’d have found the breakthrough.

Could have been more, but was not a bad result in the circumstances. Lots of games to come and still all to play for.
  • Clean sheet. One more point away from home. Pity about the pen. Only half gutted.

Not true. Tried to wait for the keeper to dive and the keeper held his ground. Poor penalty but wasn’t half arsed

I think you need to look at the two penalties from this week and last.

Against Accrington he took himself completely away from proceedings and almost entered his own little world (Harry Kane does and has admitted to doing exactly the same), this week he stood around the penalty area and was letting little pricks like Toney get inside his bloody head

    Hero to Zero ?
What a rubbish comment and insult.

So last week he cared, this week he didn't.
Taylor can miss two penalties and no criticism but Grant misses one and he gets slagged off.

He won 2 points for us last week with pen,
this week the miss costs us 2 points.

    It's footballs rollercoaster.
Can't see how an away draw is a bad result against a team in top 6.

Disappointed we ‘needed’ to start with Pratley and not Fosu overloading the midfield once again, and once again starving us of enough decent chances

Reeco was great once he came on. Hopefully we go back to the diamond with Reeco up top with Grant (providing he’s still here) next weekend

Great that Roland, generous fool that he his, backed Lee immediately who swooped for an excellent replacement/backup for our suspended talisman Taylor... 0-2 to the Addicks!

Oh, sorry that's in another parallel universe!

We'll slag him off and crucify him because

I like Grant, he won us the points last week and was relatively decent on his own today

But that penalty was totally different to last weeks that he absolutely hammered in.
You have to question where his head is at with the move, and in that respect it’s as much on Bowyer as it is him.

Decent end to end game, fairly even I guess, although I think we shaded it.

Reeeeeco. Was surprised how good he looked. Skinned their left back and put in a decent cross a couple of times. Generally looked lively.

Pratley worked his socks of, but goes unnoticed a bit.

Grant tried to be clever with the pen, but the keeper called his bluff. It was never a pen btw. Happened right in front of us. It was outside the box.

Could have done with the extra points though, the way other results went.

Having slogged round the park run, the standing up was a pain tbh.

Good to meet @Bedsaddick and catch up with the Museum’s excellent historian, in the absence of the Museum’s owner.

The price of Taylor’s absence but the positive is Reeco gets experience
  • Evans has just been sacked by Peterborough.
