  • My World Cup tickets arrived this morning. Quite late to send them out!
I though Ollie was taking them for you to pick up on the day
  • No Archer today?

I would read that as the selectors have seen all they need to know and want the likes of Willey, Plunkett and Curran to prove that they are the ones not to be left out. Wood is missing too.
  • Credit to Roy - he looks like someone who hasn't batted for a few weeks with his timing (and shot selection at times) bot quite right but has battled through it and it is now 73* (80).

    145-1 off 24
  • This team looks so much better than the one that started the series.  It was almost pointless playing if they weren't going to pick the IPL players.

Agree to an extent. But I think it has helped them make decisions on squad players and backups.

They do need squad players as well though. Joe Denly has rather gone backwards, can see him being left out unless he does something in one of the other warm up matches

But with the Hales situation and Billings's injury they were picking players who won't, or shouldn't, be anywhere near the world cup squad.

There are only 4 non starting places in the squad 2 back up quick, a spinner and a spare batter.  Not sure which place Denly is currently down for.  Maybe Denly and 3 quicks would be the solution?

But if Denly is the "2nd" spinner in the 11 we will struggle.

    There's only three changes.

Roy, Bairstow, Butler, Stokes and Ali didn't play against Ireland did they?

  • Looking at 400 here?
  • Morgan imperious. Often a weak link with the bat (can't fault him as a captain) he's going to be dangerous in this form
  • Fakhar kicking England's arse
  • This is why we need Archer.
Nothing wrong with our batsman but we need his extra pace to give us something different.
  • Great entertainment for the crowd, with the pitches likely to be flat we need the X factor Archer provides
  • Would usually have Woakes but he looks woefully out of form. Did get the big wicket yesterday but that was a bit fortunate. Top 7 is picked, and Rashid plays. Archer has to play and the other scrap it out for the other two. I would go with Plunkett and Willey.
  • Is Wood fit?  Can we call up a replacement if someone gets injured during the world cup?
  • Ouch!  Jimmy Anderson's just taken a massive blow on the knee and went down like a sack of spuds.
  • Oh gawd - Jimmy Anderson has just been smacked flush on the side of the knee by a ball hit back at him. Looks in real difficulty and tried to bowl but can't and has left the field. Hope it's nothing serious.
  • England won the toss, Denly & Curran in for Buttler & Rashid

    1 over

    WICKET

    Fakhar c Root b Woakes 2 (Pak 7-1)

There's no century for Fakhar Zaman today!

This is a lovely delivery from Chris Woakes, just finding a little something off the pitch, and the ball nips away from Fakhar as he tries to drive. A thick outside edge goes to Joe Root at second slip, who juggles it once, juggles it twice, and then clings on to give England their first wicket.
