    I agree they are probably not a headline act for Glasto and they've never been a band to get the crowd excited as such.

    A bit like Kings of Leon, they just play and the fans tend to stand, listen & sing along, rather than going crazy.

    I have to say they made a strange selection of not well known songs tonight, unlike when I've seen them & they've played 3 hours of non stop hits. 
    Apart from the love cats, I’m struggling to recall which ‘hits’ they didn’t play ? 
    Killing an Arab, Let's go to Bed, Charlotte Sometimes, Love Cats, (A Letter to Elise, The 13th, Mint Car, The End of The World)
    3 hours of non stop hits eh ?

    So seems this is something Dave does at most of his gigs, and this lad knew it and is a massive fan, and went dressed for success, credit to lad for absolutely nailing it

    My thoughts on what I saw on the telly:

    Killers a bit flat in the middle, the big hits were done well, Brandon can’t really sing so getting in four backing singers was a good decision, Pet Shop Boys and Marr were great guests. 

    Can’t stand Kylie’s and Janet Jackson’s music. 

    Maverick Sabre is still class. 

    Robert Smith has learnt how to smile, but then with The Cure he’s got a lot to smile about.

    The woman with red hair, Freya Riding or something like that, was very good and I’d like to see her live.

    Mate, I don't think the streets invented British bands with regional accents, Indie bands have doing that for decades

    Well, as you just said, that was indie bands. Skinner broke that through into the mainstream.

    Going back the likes of Slade definitely used their regional accents. Or The Worzels  :D

    Ha, I was just about to post I give you Slade, but thought it wasn't worth the bother.
    It's ridiculous to assert The Streets were responsible for artists singing with regional accents.
    I could come up with loads of bands singing with regional accents before The Streets, but I'll leave it at The Proclaimers.
    NB The Proclaimers weren't responsible for the accents of The Streets or Arctic Monkeys.

    Well I never said no one ever sang with their accents before the streets, I’m saying the pop scene at the time wasn’t dominated by British sounding artists like it was after the streets. 

    I also said “I guess” which usually means that I’m guessing your opinion. But I guess we’ve already established reading literacy isn’t your strong suit.

    Mike Skinner is still great. Went to go see him last year at the Brixton academy as his end of European tour gig. Eff knows what he started on but on stage he had 4 pints and two bottles of champagne at least.

    oh yeah he also encouraged the crowd to spark up their joints and roll new ones because what were security going to do really if everyone was at it. 

    Haven’t been at a gig inside and that full of weed for many years. Wish I’d had the day booked off after as there was plenty of partying going on. 

    Proper decent.

    It was good to see The Cure at Glastonbury.
    They are one of those bands like Def Leppard and Depeche Mode that achieved more in the USA than in the UK. 

    Are there any USA bands that achieved more in the UK than the US.

    Caught up with the Killers set last night. Great to watch and adding Pet Shop Boys and Johnny Marr was inspired. 

    However, did not reach the passion and intensity of their previous gig in the John Peel tent, which even they admit was one of their best gigs ever.

    Gave up with the Killers after Brandon and other band members admitted that when writing songs Brandon cynically chucked together s whole load of words that he thought would sell rather than having any meaning whatsoever. I mean you may not be able to work out all the morning intended in a song but normally there is at least some.

    Surely the whole Britpop scene of the mid 90s was the ultimate scene of bands really emphasising their Britishness anyway, e.g. Damon Albarn's mockney vocals on Parklife. In the US he's far more known for later stuff like Song 2 or Gorillaz.
