Probably current frontrunner for SPOTY as well, unless he has a total flop of an Ashes

Somehow not, maybe will change later on but at the moment he is 40/1, Hamilton is favourite at 13/2

My neighbours obviously get their tv signal a few seconds before us. I wondered what all the shouting was!
Maybe Antiques Roadshow was especially exciting this week

Well done New Zealand you played extremely well it can be argued you deserved to win as you lost less wicket. But bloody hell what a game of cricket
I don’t get that either. Match tied surely team who lost less wickets wins?
That is how it should be.....and was.

I imagine some will use it as a joke against him for the rest of his career

Others wont care and will always see him as guilty

Completely agree. Hard not to feel sorry for them. Everything seemed to go our way.

Didn't know Graham Thorpe was part of the backroom staff.

    Love Thorpy

    Love the Black Caps.
    What a game.
I get that some feel NZ should have won re wickets but everyone knew the rules before the start.
I cried when that trophy was lifted.
    Can’t believe it.

Our Bowlers had been useless. Gave away to many no balls plus apart from Archer and Woakes (and at times Plunkett) we don't have good wicket takers. Even Plunkett was giving away too many runs. Morgan pissed me off when he insisted on bowling Stokes. The bloke never takes wickets anymore and gives away too many runs. Yes Archer did well at the end but he should have been brought back a lot earlier. I hate England. Even in the middle of overs they were still picking up 6 or 7 runs per overs.  They always fill you up with hope and let you down.
    Had that beer yet?

Incidentally I wore my lucky underpants today, the ones that took me through 3 playoff matches including a penalty shootout win and a last minute winner at Wembley. I can add another day of agony and last minute ecstasy to their honours board  :)
  • I've never seen anything like that . I honestly think that's the greatest cricket match of all time.  It had everything.

& people say cricket is boring!

Just got in from the pub, absolutely buzzing. What a game.

Thought we'd won after they posted a fairly low score, but knew it wouldn't be easy. Kept saying we just need 25 runs per wicket and we've won but we were behind that at 4 wickets down and i thought we'd lost.

Then Stokes and Buttler got us back into it and i thought we'd do it. Then Buttler got out and i thought we'd lost. Then the run rate kept going up and i was absolutely sure we'd lost. Then somehow from nowhere in 2 balls we had a fielder stepping on the boundary and then the ball hitting Stokes as he dived. Don't think i've ever seen that, nor ever will again.

3 runs needed from 2, surely we've won. No. Super over.

15 runs is a decent total, we've got a good chance here. Archer bowls a wide and gets hit for 6. Fuck sake we're done. Then somehow he shows amazing bollocks and he pulls it back. But they still only need 3 from 2. Still they'll surely get this, it's just 1 boundary. No. Somehow we pull it off. Amazing.

Incredible victory and one of the most amazing games of cricket, or in fact games of any sport, you will ever see.

Incredibly harsh on NZ to lose a final after a tie and then a super over tie, but who cares because finally we have won a cricket world cup.

Had the cricket on the telly and the the tennis on the phone for the final set, was some if the greatest sporting tension and excitement I've ever watched, good knows what the neighbors think as I was cheering, swearing, clapping, ohing and ahing constantly for nearly 2 hours!!

My son is on a school trip this weekend and I just hope they somehow let them watch the end as he will be gutted if he missed it.
