We have seen in Hong Kong have much the Chinese value Political discourse.4 -
I think she's more into climate change than political freedoms though, an area where China is leading the way.3

Look forward to her tour of China well done Greta!

The amount of grown adults taking offence to a schoolgirl trying to save our planet, is astonishing.
The mind boggles.26 -

No. I admire somebody who is trying to save the planet when many of us don't do anything and even vote for politicians who pretend there isn't a problem. I haven't got any grand children yet, but I want the best for them and the climate change protesters may be a nuisance but they are fighting for our children and grand children. Good on them.
And it is the weakest argument ever to say, well we shouldn't bother saving the planet because that country is worse than us. I mean, break it down! The only position that you can respect is a knowledge that we are not affecting climate change. But there is too much evidence to genuinely hold that position nowadays.9 -

You just made that up so you could have a pop at people who care.

When I die I want to be buried in a biodegradable container out of doors, and have one or two trees planted over me to get nutrition from my (after any recyclable bits have been removed) rotting corpse.
Professor Tom Crowther of Zurich University has initiated a tree planting project as an effective and successful way of reversing climate change.
I am happy for my funeral costs to be spent like this, even if it is dearer than a conventional death package.
If the rip off funeral industry embraced such a change and made bio funerals affordable, that industry could lead the way in saving the planet.
In death we could really promote life.10 -

I have told my family to get rid of me in the cheapest and most ecological way possible. When I am dead I have suggested they ask me if I have changed my mind and if I don't answer, go ahead.1
-
I'm going to be scattered.
Not cremated first though, just scattered.6 -
I hope the majority on here aren’t flying abroad anywhere this year. Carbon footprint and all that.7
-
I am in just over a week. But because I put my fun first, it doesn't give me the right to make fun of people more noble and principled than me.7

I work in law enforcement, and part of my job is to see if any vehicles (usually HGV ) have Ad-Blue cheat devices fitted. Basically its a box which turns off engine warnings and torque reduction when the trucks on board monitoring system detects high or abnormal emissions.
When i find one, the operator has too explain why this device is fitted, when one is fitted the Nox emissions from a truck or (coach) are 10x the levels they should be. Nox contributes to acid rain , and greenhouse gases. Our operators usually get a 2nd chance. I also know of a company which had approval to retro-fit exhaust systems to allow vehicles to to meet the higher Euro 4 emissions. The vehicle retro vehicles fitted had to be issued with a certificate to say they could enter the LEZ in London. However what this company did was too purchase 1 system and then as each vehicle was certified to remove the up-graded exhaust , refit the OEM system and then proceed to fit the up-graded system to the next vehicle on their fleet.
The only way we, as members of the general public can do anything about this would be to boycott these companies which take a devil-may-care attitude to public health, especially when that poor child that died who lived on the south circular and her asthma attacks were shown to be linked to poor air quality.
My colleagues in Europe also check for these devices, however when they find them they remove them, and issue a fine of about €5000. or seize the vehicle, and sometimes both. And if the vehicle is in DE-RATE and can't be driven the operator is also liable for recovery cost form the checksite.
SO YES IT IS AN EMERGENCY, and it took a child to tell us this!

The "smugness" that the op referred to is borne from a confidence in what she is saying that is in turn due to knowing that she is right about her core beliefs and message. Her autism is all connected to that.....
....and it works
People are responding really well to, for once, being told straight HOW IT IS
Go Greta!

Greta Thunberg's train journey through Europe highlights no-fly movement
And yes, I regularly take the train back from Eltham to Prague, even though it costs me far more than it should compared with air (partly because kerosene, as I am sure you know, is the only motor fuel that isn't taxed). Also despite the journey becoming longer since German Railways scrapped their sleeper trains, and despite it doubtless becoming more of a hassle once Brexit kicks in.8 -

Liquid feed for the planet.1 -
Was about to refer to the same info, @PragueAddick
Greta has posted numerous pictures of her train journeys on Twitter.
Knock, Knock.
Who's there?
Someone spouting ill-informed drivel.

Extinction Rebellion protesters who were asked not to block Heathrow, moved the protest to Edinburgh.
Did they walk ?2
