  • We win the toss and bat. O'Riordan makes his debut, so 2 spinners. It does seem that DBD will open, with Cox at 3...

  • Three of our top six under 21

Billings*, Bell-Drummond, Claydon, Cox, Crawley, Kuhn, Milnes, O’Riordan, Podmore, Rayner, Robinson, Stevens squad for the game tomorrow. interesting to see no dickson in the squad. Think apart from the beckenham knocks, he has struggled to make any runs this season
    Three immediate thoughts:

    (1) Claydon and Stevens in the squad and potentially playing what might be their last games for the county

    (2) Just the 4 keepers in the team?

    (4) Darren Stevens was 25 years old when Jordan Cox was born. Prior to them both playing together previously, I wonder if we have ever had such a big age gap in a First Class match.
Frank Woolley and Doug Wright was 27 years age difference. There could be more from the old days.
This one is a bit of a cheat, arguably, but when Godfrey Evans came back for a one off county championship match against Yorkshire in 1967 he was 26 years older than Graham Johnson who also played.

As Frank Woolley and Doug Wright are before @Addick Addict 's time you understand ;)
  • Now 78 - 3 .

    Another Billings' fail.....
  • 72-2

    Cox out
    A rather extreme reaction
  • 78-3

Billings continues to give a poor impression of a batsman and is out for 4

To be fair he probably doesn't face Ravi Ashwin every week - who has figures of 10.3-5-11-2 !!!

Weird pitch when Ashwin is dominating on the first morning, you hate to imagine what it'll be like on Day 4 if it lasts that long!

And is the reason we are playing two front line spinners

    Ashwin 13.3-5-29-3

They'll have to bat better in the second innings.

To be fair Robinson isn't, as far as I'm aware, out yet
  • Hants 81-6
    Somerset 85-6
    Warks 107-2

We're not the only ones struggling

Sorry, I haven't been following the match this morning so I assumed you were referring to our usual first innings batting failures ...

Ashwin now has 4 of the 5 wickets to fall.
  • Forget about the youth we've got experience at the crease now - Kuhn (35) and Stevens (43). Would be a struggle to find an older pair batting together in the CC this season.

We desperately need these two to stay together.
