Perhaps, it was something to do with them on the way out/outside ?

The pub was full of little kids, it wasn't appropriate, unless you condone trying to provoke a row, which may well have led to small children getting injured.5 -

We got to Snow Hill fairly quickly and were let off the train no problems, although a lot of old bill there. Nothing going on walking to New Street. Once in the station there was a small group, 12ish possibly Luton,singing a bit, being escorted by about 30 plod. Had the same issue after getting the train from the stadium, needed to get off at new street as car was parked near there, police told us we had to take the train which we explained we couldn't as we are driving
Friendly cop then told us we would be allowed off at the next station, and that it was due to safety control that we couldn't use snow hill
Encountered no issues at moor street0 -

My sister's fella is a wolves supporting copper and was with me in the away end yesterday. He was saying that WMP are one of the most over resourced forces on football days, leading to tactics like this being deployed frequently. They even had dogs out the back of the away walk way yesterday - on what planet does Charlton v West Brom require dogs for crowd control?3

There was about 10 of us, it was advertised as an away pub, we left as it clearly wasn't - and had a little sing as we left. Friendly enough punters though, we spent about an hour in there.cafcsinger said:

We actually sat & had our lunch in The Vine, joining a table of a Dad & his 2 youngsters as spaces were in short supply.
Eldest grandson, when asked what he'd like to drink, joked he'd have a pint of shandy to which I quipped " Think that gentleman sitting next to you is a policeman..."
The Dad smiled and said " I am !"
I quickly asked his little girl if it was true & she confirmed it was ! Cue Fanny's red face.....
Anyway, he then said to our grandson " Go ahead, mate , if you want one ", which he did !
Dad, who's based in West Brom, daughter & 9yr old son in his first season as a season ticket holder were smashing & we spent over an hour chatting & exchanging football experiences. I even bought him a pint.....and was given a hug & kiss when we left ( what's new ?)
He'd predicted that if the Baggies scored first, they'd win but wasn't too confident in general considering their match at home to Barnsley last Tuesday.

It got a mention Charlton Live earlier tonight and one of Louis's studio guests questioned if what the OB did at Marylebone was actually legal. That is taking names and addresses of people just like that.

It’s quite nice when people actually witness this kind of police behaviour personally, as I’m sure plenty live in a bubble sometimes and on hearing of this police response elsewhere would probably assume the fans must have deserved it.
Fans of many clubs deal with these kind of tactics on a regular occurrence. Because our support has gone up an edge recently our ‘normal’ fans are now witnessing this regular police behaviour and it’s not pretty is it.
Im sure BBW and Millwall fan would have a wry smile at some of the responses here. They’ve probably dealt with this for years and know just how far having a moan about it gets you.5 -

I remember going to Brentford vs Northampton about 30 years ago. Apparently the shit PA system announced that Bees fans should stay in their seats until Northampton fans had left. We were kettled in the ground, horseback plod refusing to let people out while other fans were pushing from behind. Hillsborough situation.
Eventually let go, spent hour and a half waiting to see officer in charge, who apologised and said it wouldn't happen again. Funnily enough met him years later through my Addick companion and he is now a decent mate. Passed me yesterday as I was crossing the road and he yelled "hooligan, get out of the way".6 -
got off at snow hill as was in a reasonably quiet carriagepolice didnt really say anythging, saw a few others who recognised us as charlton trying to get off and then the police got quite rough with them, at ht i didnt see what went on i went out for a cigarette and had a police officer waving a batton around threatening to hit people.
it does seems like this police force has a thing for this sort of behaviour good friday coventry away couple of years back they made everyone get cabs back to the city centre then on a train to rugby then onto london.0 -
