Thanks J Block, been a Charlton fan for over 40 years, certainly not going to support Palace. Just sharing my experiences of travelling around Europe and how there fans support there clubs. Off to Basel and Bern in 2 weeks will be plenty of pyro, hopefully not thrown on the pitch though.6

If you throw flares then you are effectively driving other people away. I won't consider away games while this goes on. All I'm saying is that people who endorse this can go elsewhere and let others watch in safety. I don't care what they do in Italy or Germany anyway. Nothing beats the traditional English football atmosphere.4

Hamburg are to trial allowing fans to use pyrotechnics legally at a game for the first time this weekend.
The Bundesliga 2 club have successfully applied to allow fans to set off 10 smoke devices before their home match with Karlsruher on Saturday.
Flares, fireworks and other pyrotechnics are banned at football grounds across Europe.
According to the Associated Press, Hamburg were fined more than £250,000 for breaching those rules last season.
The German DFB announced that the smoke cans will be let off as the teams arrive on the pitch before kick-off under the supervision of a specialist company in an area between the pitch and the north stand.
"The action is continuously monitored and monitored by a pyrotechnician on site," the DFB said. "Fire extinguishers and fire buckets will be available and the event will be monitored by the fire service on site.
"Future applications are still subject to individual review."

Pyrotechnics at football are a European domain which, like double denim and the mullet, should be admired from afar with intrigue but not bestowed upon these shores.13

Not sure how these 10 flares under guidance of a specialist company equates to ok for dans to have flares.0
