No way would say Brentford have told him not to play for the rest of the season, especially as we are due to play them. That would be considered a massive breach of the rules.
Football operates separately from normal life, it's not like a normal job where in your last few weeks you hand over your responsibilities, tidy your desk and go for long lunch breaks, as the last game in your contract is potentially just as important as your 1st or 34th. Clubs aren't stupid, if we were relegated with 2 games to go, I'm sure Bowyer would be happy to leave Taylor out.
The integrity of the league season relies on it, and it's this structure which generates massive public interest and makes lots of players very rich. If the FA AND PFA had any sense of morals, they would instruct its members to play the full season, and for clubs to extend all contracts until the season is ended. These are extraordinary times, and everyone has to show solidarity to the wider game.1 -

Doubt very much he will sign for a Premier League side. Even teams like Bournemouth & Burnley spend millions on players that are miles better than Taylor.
I expect him to go to a high Championship side, probably a recently relegated Premier League one, like Fulham.4 -

I do get this argument and you have to try and be fair to Taylor. But he is a footballer so the analogy doesn't work for me.
All you are asking him to do his serve notice professionally. Playing football is the job so honour your notice.
If you were a paid stunt man you'd be obliged to carry on jumping out of planes.
Taylor will be remembered as either one of the first to do something that caught on and became common, or as a total wally.
This isn't a transfer at stake, where the club needs to protect its asset. Nor is it going to trigger an unfavorable extension. This is something new and I hope its seen as a mistake. Team in a relegation dogfight. Man up. Go and train and bring something positive.
As long as you are getting paid, do your job.

I’m surprised any club in the current climate is guaranteeing a new and highly attractive contract outside of the Premier League. Finances are precarious for all now and salary caps etc must be on the agenda.I’d assume a revised downwards offer being made by his new club must be a distinct possibility.Maybe his move could change anyway.0

Garden leave - is a compromise agreement reached between an employer and employee to leave and not work for anyone else until the end of your notice period

Just galling that he sat their taking the wages for weeks on end doing nothing,knowing he was not going to play.Surely having taken the money for nothing he should be morally obliged to return some of it,as the other lads are going to earn theirs,while he has done nothing.I certainly hope we dont pay him any more.3

I’m still concerned about the precedent it’s setting if we allow him to do this. A competent club would surely be suing for breach of contract? Could create additional problems for ourselves (and other clubs) further down the road.

Loyalty is for supporters not players. Some may feel obligated to play but for most it's about number one.6
