wasnt it alluded to that there is something else going on behind the scenes with Solly?
Im not sure its wise just yet to slate him in case there is something more serious going on. The fact he has hardly spoke worries me. I dunno it just seems odd for a player at a club for that long to just end like that.
I could be wrong but i think its not the end of the story.

Never thought of that.  Hopefully that's not the reason.

Mate this football club is like a sieve, absolutely nothing seems to stay private. If there was some mitigating circumstance to explain Solly’s decision then I’m pretty sure it would have been aired all over social media by now.

Can't picture anything happening in the rest of Solly's career that even nearly makes up for his loss as a Charlton legend. Absolute coward.

I don't believe that for one minute. The club would have been desperate for a better ending, but Solly chose to do it this way

Spoke to Taylor last week who said Sols has something else lined up.
    and was paid until eoc
Whether LT is fibbing who knows.

For everything that has happened this was the cruelest cut. To see someone treat the club that backed him and then give it the finger was the hardest one to take. He embodied everything Charlton and now those memories are all pissed away. Thank you and fuck you.

Solly will get and deserves to get dogs abuse when we play Gillingham if that is where he ends up.

He walked out on us plan and simple

I said this at the time, it's seems very strange that he would throw 10 years away just like that for the sake of at least seeing his contract out for which he probably wouldn't play anyway. I don't understand it however LB did say Solly had refused to play & offered no other possible explanation. Very sad. I'm still waiting to hear that the other c*** slipped on his bathroom floor & has done some damage that keeps him unable to play football for at least a year, before he has signed his "life changing" contract. Personally while he will obviously get more elsewhere than at Charlton I don't think that he will be getting the call from the Premiership as has been suggested.

So how do you do that without telling him he's a c***! Don't get it

I’m also of the opinion that something doesn’t feel quite right with the Solly situation and that there must be more to it than meets the eye.

Not in the know, but my gut feel.

Fell out with Bowyer and not getting picked pissed him off

Solly has hardly been mentioned because he was becoming more and more inept.  He didn’t haven to behave like this - I doubt he’d have played a game- even the one where Lapslie played at wing back

I struggle how people can liken Taylor and solly - one of them has got us relegated as really a draw at brum sent us down a game in which I am confident Lyle Taylor would of bagged a few, the other is a league 2 defender at best with a knee shot to pieces.

But the one that’s “a League 2 defender” is also club captain who had a testimonial game in his honour 12 months ago. Taylor had more impact on our survival but Solly is a greater betrayal.

There's a huge difference for me between Solly and Taylor. Solly has a young family to support and won't be on a massive wage wherever he goes.

Taylor is already on more than Solly and will be on a huge amount more wherever he goes.

Solly wouldn't have have played again anyway towards the end of the season.

There may well be a difference of circumstance between the two but they both have cowardice in common.

I can't feel any malice towards Solly. Unlike Taylor he's never bigged himself up and played the crowd to boost his own ego. He's not two faced, he's a genuinely nice bloke. Again a gut feeling but I'm sure he has good reason to do what he did. Much more than meets the eye and he's not the sort of bloke who would spend every 5 minutes tweeting about his life.

Solly is worse than Taylor in my opinion.

All those pointing to his service to the club as mitigation are actually reinforcing my thoughts rather than quelling them.

People saying he wouldn’t have played makes it worse in that he could have kept stum, and just sat in the background without turning his back on the club.

So why did he refuse to play. He must have known that he wasn’t in bowyers plans. He took the easy option out to get an extra month off of work on full pay.

Solly would have earned a lot more over his career than Taylor
Taylor has one last chance at a life changing salary and didn’t want to risk it for us (selfish c**t)
ten years time that life changing salary may be paying his bills,  us talking about staying up in 2020 wouldn’t .

He has witnessed the vitriol Grant was subjected to, and realises that it would be worse should he ever set foot on The Valley turf again. If only he had revealed the reasons behind his decision, so we could understand his actions.

    Yes

I dont get anyone who says Solly is not the same as Taylor because he may not have played.

    He may not have done
But with 2 games a week he may have been a useful player to use to give Matthews a rest or even as Left back cover when we needed it.

I also paid for Sollys testimonial and his Q&A and feel like by not honoring his contract he has betrayed us all.

We have ben relegated and as much as I doubt it will I hope it plays on both Solly and Taylors minds.
