Yep, to think Charlton were only in it once prior to Barnsley'S winner. The Prince-e-Paul said:

Is was reported on here, and in the general media, the the hearing finished 3 weeks ago. @bobmunro disputes this & said earlier in the week that Sheff Wed are still submitting documents.MuttleyCAFC said:Some detective work is required to find out a bit more about this hearing. have to say i'm impressed if Barnsley keep the pressure up. they don't need to but they obviously and quite rightly so feel that cheats should not be allowed to prosper. good on em and if they succeed i will be one of many to applaud them.11

They need to keep the pressure on, until the Wigan appeal is resolved, because if Wigan are successful in avoiding a points deduction then they will be relegated.0

i thought the wigan situation is a foregone conclusion?
surely they cant use force majeure as a way out of it? then again with the EFL it wouldn't surprise me.0 -
They're claiming Corona and the suspension of the season is an exceptional circumstance that means administration was inevitable, and they wouldn't have been in the situation had the season continued as normal. All complete bullshit but we'll see if they buy into the sob storyKarim_myBagheri said:i thought the wigan situation is a foregone conclusion?

Their owners were well aware they were buying a club in the middle of Corona virus pandemic, lockdown, no spectators and future uncertainty.
Force majeure? In that case, you could well argue that each and every football club in the land has been 'victim' of Force Majeure.
Again, each and every club has been financially impacted.
Should the EFL waive the 12-point deduction and reprieve Wigan, it could open the floodgates of clubs entering administration and throw all EFL competitions into chaos.
Surely, the EFL must apply the regulation and penalty.
Their rules are worthless otherwise.

But it wouldn’t be the EFL waiving the deduction and reinstating them would it? Wouldn’t it be an independent commission? And if it were overturned I’m sure the EFL would appeal and on we go, final decision in November.Oggy Red said:

It seemed that the EFL agreed with you at the start, saying that they an appeal would not stand because they took over during the beeak & knew what they were taking on. I'm assiming they are allowing an appeal just because they have to & that it wont be successful be sure if the above.Oggy Red said:

I'm sure we could put a case together for Duchatalet being a force majeure, but sadly despite it being true, it won't wash with the EFLOggy Red said:

The QC for both Derby and the Massives, Nick De Marco, has been at his very lovely villa in Italy since last week.
I assume this to mean that the hearings are over.
Irrelevant fact. Lady Irving grew up with the De Marco family in Weybridge and knew Nicky as the snotty little brother of her friend.0 -
It’s an absolute farce all round. The EFL are going to have a very tricky summer. I do think the points deduction will be tagged onto next season now. Would be a shambles if they applied it the next few weeks0
-
Why will it be a shambles to apply a points deduction to SW this season ? It’s only going to affect them and us. SW will have a pretty good idea of where they stand regards their guilt so have had time to make plans. We have ESI in control.....cabbles said:It’s an absolute farce all round. What with Barnsley still very much pushing for a punishment I wonder what their preference is
e.g. Do they want Sheffield Wednesday to get the points deduction this season because it fits in with when they commited the "crimes" and is the fair option as they will be relegated
Or would they prefer it get applied next season so they've already got an advantage over one of their rivals0 -

If Wigan win their appeal against their deduction then Barnsley are relegated so they may still well have an interest in the points being deducted this season. Of course it would mean we would be second bottom so Sheffield Wed points deduction becomes irrelevant.ForeverAddickted said:What with Barnsley still very much pushing for a punishment I wonder what their preference is

Barnsley are a well run and honest football club, and I think it sticks in their throat that other so called big clubs can get away with cheating, but for Wigan Barnsley would be down, while the cheats prosper. How can Derby pay Rooney 8ok a week, and find 10m for Christian Bielec, absolute farce if either or both do not get a points deduction this season.8

I wont mind as much if Wigan win their appeal as feel they've been cheated by their owners and whilst the Administration rules are pretty clear I'd be quite happy if they stayed upBrian said:

Sheffield Wednesday on the other hand have quite blunty cheated and deserve any action coming their way4 -

Wednesday need to be punished in a way that will truly affect them. Relegation is that.5 -
Of course there is still a risk to Barnsley in the unlikely event Wigan don't get their deduction. I'm sure they have their eyes on all possibilities.0
-
Wednesday are also local rivals to Barnsley
I'm sure the Barnsley fans would much prefer see Wednesday relegated and us stay up.1 -
Wouldn't be surprised if they already have a verdict but are delaying it so it can be pushed into next season.0
-
Wigan decision is the 31st, probably won't hear anything on either till then. Derby I'm not sure what they'll do, unless they get 21 taken off there's no point in them being punished this season, whereas Wednesday are within reach with 9 point deduction. The problem is you can't punish both but deduct the points at different times0
-
No way you'd be saying that if we'd finished 21st!ForeverAddickted said:

I agree that Wigan deserve to stay up and they've been shafted by the owners but you can't go into admin and get away without a points deduction as it opens up all kinds of issues for when it happens to the next club.3 -
Just what Bowyer said about planning for whatever league we may be in. If a retrospective deduction is applied in 2-3 weeks, if he’s still here, he would be planning for life in League One. Granted it’s a unique situation all round as we are in the unfortunate position of having ESI in control and they’re unlikely to be planning anything other than their exit, but Gallen may have already put the feelers out for players. Who knows. I just think it’s in the interest of the EFL to act now if the deduction will apply this seasonHex said:
