Compared to the usual reserve game crowd of about 200.
Such was the excitement and anticipation for Simmo.
I was there and I bet you were1 -
phil walker got a blinder 4-1 win that night1

Yes, I was. My Dad told me that Simonsen was signing and could be playing, so we went together.
Dad would often go to reserve games anyway back then.
I nearly never went but so glad I did. A page of Charlton history.

Fancy goals in this, very inexperienced defensively, but complete opposite in midfield.1 -

That's what I see when I read the lineup above. I bet the opposition are confused.
I know I am.3 -
I'd rather Williams was trusted to start against Lincoln or Sunderland.
Maybe he will do a full 90 and prove us wrong.2 -
Why are we starting Williams in this but not league matches?

Josh Davison
Jay Mingi
Luca Vega
James Vennings (on the bench yesterday)
Albie Morgan (not playing after being left out of yesterday's squad)
on the U23s thread.
Now the embargo is over w can debut u23s without fear of taking up a squad place. As a result I I think they all may start so Im going with
Maynard Brewer
Barker Mingi Vega Famewo
Lapslie Watson Vennings
Morgan Davison Aouachira
£10 well spent. I wonder if the Ifollow attendance will be higher than the gate will have been!
Barker & Famewo = 2/4 outfielders required by the EFL.
Minimum of four qualifying outfield players in their starting XI. A qualifying outfield player will be one who meets any of the following requirements:- Any player who started the previous or following first-team fixture
- Any player who is in the top 10 players at the club, who have made the most starting appearances in league and domestic cup competitions that season (No idea who this 10 would be)
- Any player with 40 or more first-team appearances in their career (How many of ours have played 40 first team games in their careers?)
- Any player on loan from a Premier League club or any EFL Category One Academy club. (If we go Cat One, can we use our entire academy? Famewo and Levitt available?)
- A club can play any eligible goalkeeper in the competition (almost guarantees Brewer a game)
Ito fit the above i'd expect us to use:
Maynard-Brewer - Any GK
Ben Watson - Over 40 First team appearances. (doesn't say for who)
Macaulay Bonne - Started previous game
Levitt - PL Loanee
Famewo - Cat 1 Academy Loanee
Maynard Brewer
Barker Mingi Vega Famewo
Lapslie Watson Vennings
Morgan Davison Bonne*
*Bonne subbed in the first minute for an U18s striker
Morgan must be pushing 40 appearances I'd imagine.
The fine for breaking the rules is tiny anyway
Any EFL Club failing to meet the requirement to play Full Available Strength will be required to pay a fine of up to £5,000.1 -
Right now is the time.
It's DAVISON not DAVIDSON.4 -
Dont recognise any of the Brighton team0
-
Looks like Williams and JFC either need more game time or aren't in plans for the weekend.0
-
Shit that teams gonna win fffs
Lose in this shameful comp0 -

So back four is
Lapslie - Barker - Mingi - Vega0 -
Literally just paid the £10 for the first 45...
Vega with a Sarr esque tackle but a Reeves esque cross into the Jimmy seed.2 -

-
Good ball from Lapslie, CB spanks the cross over his own goal.0
-
Foul in the box means the corner is wasted.0
-
Very much a development team game here.0
-
Williams has only started this season in cup games or for Wales1
-
I'm on my way back from work and for some reason am tempted to pay to watch whatever time is left of this crap when I get in.
Even though after both the Doncaster and Lincoln games I swore to myself to never watch Charlton play football again.1 -

Watson loses possession, Brighton attack but the young defence repel the advances.0
-
Morgan with a perfectly weighted long cross, Williams brings it down well then dawdled on it to lose possession.0
-
Mingi with a Sarr like ping out of defence.0
-
Lapslie wastes possession after good work by Morgan.
Leads to a Btn corner.0
