Surely a penalty that is close to the post but doesn't hit it is pretty good.

Depends which side of the post!
  • The only 'good' or 'bad' penalty, is one that goes in, or doesn't.

First off another good performance from the referee 2 in a row now

Great game to watch, both sides going at each other, I knew Fleetwood would be a hard game and maybe a game too far they have some class players. I hoped we would target their centre halves as I see them as the weak spot. All the players had to be on their game last night and they were. Albie had a really good game as did Shinnie who was my man of the match shading Maatsen

Innis was dominant aerially as ever and Prattley as professional as ever. I also think it was Watsons best game for us so far

Bogle did everything but score, he needs one to land in front of him or hit him on the arse and go in

Glad we dealt with Paddy Madden when he came on as he is dangerous and would take him playing for us in a heartbeat but the two Ched Evans goals showed the real level we are at. Players like him get chances at this level especially with the service he gets and centre halves will make mistakes and get turned. Thankfully Evans is head and shoulders the most competent finisher in this league

Glad we didn't panic for too long after the equaliser, I fancied us to score as the game was so open and I'm glad Connor is now in form, he worked his nuts off again

Jason Pearce pointed something out last night that doesn't normally get picked up on TV. So often we give the oppositions man in front of the back 4 loads of time to receive the ball, turn, look up and find a pass. You normally only pick it up if you are there and to see Washington and Bogle always in close proximity was reassuring. Fleetwood were very comfortable with the ball in tight spaces but we showed the right level of intensity to make them have to play at a fast space and they made a lot of mistakes

There was one move in the second half from Fleetwood - sharp, accurate, incisive passing - that quite frankly I thought was beyond a League One club. They will be up there I think.

That was a penalty from a confident striker. Keeper was never going to stop that.
Looking at it again it looks pretty close to hitting the post. On another day it will do so or go wide. Not confident as I was when Buyens or Taylor took them.

The best thing about a Taylor penalty was i had time to go for a slash, wash my hands while singing happy birthday, head to the kitchen and put the kettle on and still get back to see him walking to the spot.

We must have a pretty average league one squad of players?

Maybe just about top 10 in terms of natural ability?

    Form is picking up.

I'm still a bit "meh" whenever I see us win via online but it is still really important for the long term and means a lot.

Just looking forward to the January transfer window!

I’m not sure if this is a reply to something else but you surely can’t think we have an average squad?

Looking at every other squad in division we are top 4 at least in terms of quality.

It's amazing that after our recent run of wins there are still people who can moan lol

Assume you’re on the wind up?

We’ve arguably got the best starting 11 and squad in the league. It’s better than what we had in the Championship.

There seems to be quite a few that like to post the odd negative comment so they can quote it if it all goes wrong.
Either that or they diddly squat about football.

I should probably catch up as I made an assumption that we would have mostly just had last season's wafer thin set of players.

I know we've made signings but to be honest I don't know much about them.

Simply only a direct negative assumption in regards to our situation and how last season ended. My apologies.

Bogle only made 9 passes against Pompey, so that's a useful increase in his involvement

I thought Shinnie was fairly quiet, but 50 passes shows how involved he was in our overall play. Much better from Watson too, he's finally starting to show what he's capable of
  • The expected goals graph shows how dangerous we looked going forward, and how few decent chances Fleetwood created. Indeed the low xG scores show how well Evans took his 2 goals, and Conor his 1st

    ...Conor's first was a tap-in?

He made it look easier than it was

To be fair, the low xG for that goal probably reflects the original shot from Bogle which was unlikely to result in a goal

        What a negative comment
We have gone from 19th to 3rd in 4 weeks
With these average league one players
        Coached by very professional people!

To put the run of results into perspective, the last time we won six league games in a row was through October and November 2011.

    Charlton 4-0 Carlisle
    Wycombe 1-2 Charlton
    Hartlepool 0-4 Charlton
    Charlton 5-2 Preston
    Brentford 0-1 Charlton
    Charlton 2-0 Huddersfield

The two games following that were 1-1 draws. First away at Walsall, then at home to Oldham.

We never reached six wins in a row again that season. We hit five in a row once (and maybe also in following seasons?) but never more than six, and only once.

Seven League wins after Rochdale 👍👍👍
well done Lads and well done Bows 👍👍👍
  • We're very fortunate indeed to have Bows, Jacko and Steve Gallen running the on-pitch show...and indeed, Thomas Sandgaard, one First-Rate, positive owner (and communicator) in charge. Brilliant, thank heaven...LONG may it continue!!!

No need for apologies mate, it’s almost always a safe bet to assume Charlton’s team is a bit shit.

I can’t say we’ve got a particular Hollywood squad of players, it’s more of the case that most other teams in League One are much worse off than us.

Unless there’s an injury crisis, it would be outrageous if this team finished outside the top 4.

We have the best squad of players in the League. We have the best individual players in many positions. I don't understand why people can't see that. Not only those being negative about our prospects but those setting incredibly low targets as being a success. I am expecting Play -offs as a minimum, but automatic as very possible.
  • With you on that Muttley. Given where we all were a couple of months back it’s astonishing but I’m looking at an automatic promotion as a very real target.

I’m hoping the players have been suitably incentivised to push for promotion. With the salary cap having come into play for a lot of our over 21 signings this might explain how Gallen, Bowyer and Sandgaard were able to piece together such a cracking squad.

For the record I’m not ITK, I’m absolutely not knocking it if this has been the approach. Right now I’m just loving the ride.

Very few people on here have detailed knowledge of League 1 players/squads, including you I expect. It's too early to simply say we have the best squad including individual players.

We've had lots of positives so far, including 'unknowns' such as Maatsen, Inniss and Famewo. But it's a long old season so time will tell.
  • We're definitely top 6, where we rank against Posh, Ipswich, Sunderland, Hull and maybe Pompey and Doncaster remains to be seen

Looking at it again it looks pretty close to hitting the post. On another day it will do so or go wide. Not confident as I was when Buyens or Taylor took them.
How many did Taylor miss in his 1st season?
