Sharpe series has always been my favourite
Watch back now and the story line at times really deviates from the books (equally my favourite book series) which is a shame and part of me would love to see it remade - The acting of both Sean Bean and the late Pete Postlethwaite help drag it along.
More recently: Band of Brothers is up there
Out at the moment (although going into its last series): Brooklyn Nine Nine2 -
Star Trek Deep space nine, with The Simpsons (90s to early 00s era) being a close second.0
-
1. Breaking Bad
2. Succession
3. The Wire
Fargo, Narcos and Fauda all get honourable mentions0 -
The Wire
The Sopranos
Game of Thrones

24 seems to have fallen off a lot of peoples radars but to me was pretty revolutionary and a big influencer in the switch from films to TV.
My Top 10 non-comedy, multi-series box sets
1. Sopranos
2 24
3 Game of Thrones
4. Narcos
5. Line of Duty
6. Peaky Blinders
7. Boardwalk Empire
8. Ozark
9. Narcos Mexico
10. Power
Found it really hard ordering below Sopranos. Honourable mentions for Scandal, The Crown, This is England, Killing Eve, Desperate Housewives and Sex and the City3 -
The Prisoner
A very peculiar practise.

Saw Paul Ritter in the supermarket once, got excited at the time as it was Martin from Friday Night Dinner (was tempted to ask him if he was bloody boiling...), but he's so good as Dyatlov.1 -
Band of Brothers is a masterpiece.10

Nothing will beat Breaking Bad for me. So many cliffhangers.
A lot of TV series can have a bad/disappointing ending but this one was perfect in my opinion.

I bet I'd think it was rubbish if I ever saw it again but an 8-part series from 1969 called Big Breadwinner Hog. It was a big departure from regular TV at the time with explicit violence. The lead gangster was played rather convincingly by Peter Egan, who has had a wide variety of differing roles over the years.
Also, both starring Edward Woodward,
Callan and The Equalizer1 -
1 Boys From The Blackstuff 2 Sopranos 3 Minder

Very difficult - not least it tests my failing memory! In no particular order:
- Ashes to Ashes
- Band of Brothers
- Minder (with Waterman)
- The Sweeney
- Morse
- Budgie
- The Prisoner
- The Professionals
- Line of Duty (all)
- Boardwalk Empire
- The Boys from the Blackstuff
- When the Boat Comes In

Another vote for Band of Brothers. Still need to watch Sopranos and The Wire!
To throw something in that's a bit left-field - Spartacus was bloody brilliant IMO even if it did have gratuitious violence and nudity.0 -
For anything with two seasons or more:
1=Sopranos
1=The Wire
3 Breaking Bad
4 Succession
5 Better Call Saul
6 Mad Men
7 Gomorrah
8 Peaky Blinders
9 Halt & Catch Fire
10 Last Kingdom
One season wonders (no order)
Unorthodox
Queen's Gambit
Chernobyl
Firefly
Freaks & Geeks

As for non-US series, Gomorrah would be No1 without doubt.1
-
Top 3 would be:
The Wire
Chernobyl
Breaking Bad
After that there are plenty of great shows that I could list but stand outs are the below. Once I get my arse around to watching The Sopranos that will no doubt end up on the list
Band of Brothers
Game of Thrones (up until the last couple of seasons)
Better Call Saul
Fargo
Line of Duty
OFAH
Mindhunter3 -

Wish I could be more edgy and unique but it’s:
1. Sporanos
2. Wire
3. Breaking Bad
I love Gomorra, Wandavision* and Succession but that could just be recency bias.*not sure if this counts for this thread as it’s a one of series rather than a multiple-series type thing.0 -

The Wire - Ground breaking in showing the dire state of life for the ‘underprivileged’ in the US. Each series focussing on different aspects. Who can forget the character Omar Little
The Sopranos - Just got better and better with each series.
The Bridge - Amazing acting by Sofia Helin as main character Saga Noren.
Boys from the Blackstuff - fantastic characters and great messaging of the dire state of the country at the time.
Spiral - came to this late on. Binge watched and gutted when we reached the final episode.
Homeland - was very watchable. Claire Danes was great as Carrie Mathieson. Final series was a bit disappointing.
Ozark is up there of the more recent stuff. Also looking forward to the new series of Line of Duty as well.
