By coincidence there's an article today on the BBC about what it's like being a caretaker manager! Jacko needs to read it  ;)

Really don't get the optimism on here. Also it won't matter if JJ gets the best out of what he's got and we win 6-0 he won't get the job. Would think TS already has his man and will announce Bow's successor by end of week. Anyone who thinks this has all blown up over the last 48 hours need to give their head a wobble.
Agreed. Not a chance this has only just happened. It has been said various times that LB seemed to change in his outlook weeks ago. It now seems he knew he was going for whatever reason that might be. For me the silence from the players speaks a thousand words and adds to the theory that was generally slated that there had been a dressing room bust up. Like most people Im exicted about tonight to see if there is a reaction from the players in terms of performance on the pitch

with the players in doubt about the team management, and some feeling the pressure off them now Bowyers gone, I reckon 3-0 to Bristol Rovers.

Defensively, I think barring injuries, JJ's only decision is Purrington or Maatson. Midfield is where he can change things significantly, for instance playing JFC, Shinnie and Morgan and attack he could go for a Stockley and Aneke front line, but Washington doesn't deserve to be dropped. Maybe Washington and Stockley with Aneke having a free role behind them. I think Millar is being targeted (not fouled, but having his runs covered by an extra defender) and may benefit from coming on as sub.

Hopefully JJ will be aware that setting up exactly as Bowyer did won't stake a claim for the job.

  • I think because of some of the outbursts by LB to the media after games, calling out certain players for mistakes etc. there was a sense within our side that players were too scared to make a mistake and therefore playing within themselves.

We may see them playing with a little more freedom and confidence without the fear of being publicly slated if they make a mistake.

almost couldn't care less about tonight's game now. In limbo until the end of the season playing wise. the important stuff will be happening behind the scenes. new manager, does Gallen stay? where are we with building plans playing wise for next year? (Varney has confirmed squad for Powell's championship season was put together by April). Almost think any sudden bounce could act as a distraction about building for next year.
this sort of comment does my head in!! yes a few teams have games in hand but there's no certainty that they'll win them. look at Accrington, they had 4 games in hand on us but now only have 2 and still sit 2 pts behind us. a lot of these clubs will lose key players to injury and with small squads that can be catastrophic.
New manager bounce, put a run together and hey presto, play offs here we come!!
On the other hand we could all just give up now and not bother with the last 11 games??

The way we’re playing this match could go one of three ways ... win, lose or draw. That’s my prediction

Redman would of gone home at half time if he was a liverpool fan at the champs league final in 2004 when they were 3-0 down. We still have a chance of play offs.

I really don’t agree, just think it’s the circumstances of how he left why there’s no social media outpouring from the players.

He’s resigned to go to a job in a higher division, you only really get goodbye messages when a manager has been sacked. I imagine all the well wishing would have been done in person.

I want to see DJ given the freedom to express himself that he was given at Swindon, then we will see what he's made of.

    Let's go XMAS tree...4-3-2-1

    Amos
    Gunter - Famewo - Pearce - Purrington
    Morgan - Shinnie - Gilbey
    Washington - Schwartz
    Aneke
Subs: M.Brewer, Oshilaja, Maatsen, Jaiyesimi, Henry, Clayden, Stockley
Changed my mind, Stockley to replace Aneke when he tires.

    Not yet

The people who bought in December got theirs yesterday, but those who bought this week probably are still to be processed

Thinking about it, the  majority of the players with the strongest bond to Bowyer have gone anyway, the Wembley team

Hardly any of them are left now, and I can't imagine Purrington being too heartbroken!

Also wouldn't be disappointed to see the following:

    Jaiyesimi - Shinnie - Gilbey - Morgan

Not sure JJ had the time to make major changes to tactics etc etc .. can’t see there being much different

I like to see some energy in midfield, JFC, Morgan and Gilbey (if fit)

Even without big tactical changes we may as others have said see a shackles off performance. Play offs are no longer expected, despite being the goal. I expect we will see players less concerned with making a mistake and more of a unit.
