Dover Athletic will play no further part in the National League this term with their results expunged after failing to meet fixture obligations from 16-27 February.

The National League club have also been issued a 12-point deduction for the 2021-2022 season and fined £40,000.

The club, which has the right to appeal, placed all management, players and staff on furlough on 14 February.

An independent panel charged 18 clubs for alleged breaches of league rules.

12 point deduction for a club who can’t afford to play games during this pandemic. 6 point deduction for a club who purposely cheated by selling ground to owner. Football really isn’t fair.
The authorities who implement these penalties have not got a clue.

A number of National League clubs are considering whether to bring a vote of no confidence against the league's board in the wake of the latest controversy to hit the competition this season.

    Absolutely correct
  • I guess a revised table won’t be published until after any appeal but does expunging results hurt any of the leading pack more than the others?

Fair play to Hornchurch, they're in the Isthmian league (step 7) and their last league game was played way back in November.

Since then the only official games they've played have been in the FA Trophy. They just made it to the final at Wembley, after beating Notts County (who've been playing all season and you'd assume would be much fitter and sharper, as well as being full time pros) away, 5-4 on penalties after a 3-3 draw.

    That's an absolutely incredible achievement.

Playing Hereford who beat Woking in the other Semi-Final

Must be a very rare year for both EFL Trophy finalists to come from a side outside of the Conference

Came from behind 3 times. Injury time equaliser to take it to penalties. Unbelievable result for Hornchurch. Fans paid for their overnight stay before the game. And in quarter finals. Shame they couldn’t be there to see it.

Incredible that thousands of fans will be allowed into Wembley for the 17/18th April, yet two weeks earlier non-league clubs cannot have 50 fans!

To be fair he is 36 now. Most amateur footballers aren't even playing Sunday morning football at that age due to the excesses of life taking over!

Key game on Sunday between Stockport and Torquay - Stockport desperately need to win to keep alive any chance of automatic promotion.

It does seem down to Sutton and Torquay for the automatic spot.

Such a difficult league to get out of.

I finally left the house and went to Rochester vs Chatham. I'd forgotten how bloody cold it gets standing around for a couple of hours in the evening. Bar open and chips at the tea hut. Oh and the score was 1-5. Great to finally see a game again.

Hornchurch 2-1 up heading into injury time.

This is the equivalent of a league one side winning the FA Cup.

Notice that Hornchurch have Liam Nash in their team, he did extremely well for Maldon & Tiptree a few years ago before opting for Gillingham over appearing on Love Island - Didnt work out but surprised he's dropped so far again.

Is this a second attempt from Hornchurch to buy their way up the Non-League pyramid?

Don’t think so. They wouldn’t go down that route again after the crook got the club folded.

I used to go at that time when Charlton were away. The players had to Nick stuff from the chairman’s office to sell,  to get some of their owed wages back.
