2. We have been told we're rebuilding, it's not a reach to expect that to mean a number of new signings, not the same ones that were part of a failed squad last season.
I don't mind either or both of them rejoining as don't think we'll get much better at this level.
So far the only players openly mentioned as targets were all here last season on loan and only one has actually signed a permanent deal.
Fwiw I think Millar and Maatsen will join championship sides.6 -
Two good players at this level might come available, and that’s not ok to some. Oh well.
the rebuild is happening, sure we’ll see more signings in the coming weeks

It just doesn't match up as a rebuild when the only three players the club are willing to talk about are last season's loanees.
Nothing on anyone actually new yet, so I hope some fresh names start coming through soon.10 -

But if Adkins would have been here 1 month earlier, they would probably have been part of a squad that at the very least made the playoffs.2 -
Good stuff we can play Maatsen up top off of Stockley0
-
Gut feeling there will be a signing announced today4
-
I think people assumed "rebuild" would mean 15 plus first team players. When that's not necessarily what it means.
We have signed Innis and Stockley on multi year contracts. We would have offered JFC one if he wasn't injured. I would expect Amos, Matthews and Aneke have also been offered more than 1 year.
Some of our u23s have signed new deals and some of last years U18s have signed pro terms.
It's highly likely, in my opinion, we will sign at least 4 loans, probably late in the window. Some of which maybe returning, some will be totally new.
If the 5 who haven't yet signed do we will probably only see 2 or 3 "new" permanent signings. Then we may see a couple of contracted players moved on Schwartz and Gunter the most likely to allow a few more incomings.
We will almost certainly see a handfull of u23s signed from verious different pathways.
If we get promoted AND finish next season with 15 odd players contracted for the following season AND a restored pipeline of talent we will be in a totally different position to the one we have been in for the last ten years. I would call that a rebuild, even if it is only a handful of "new" first team players.5 -

It would be nice to have about 18 by the 1st of July though. I still think a couple of contracted players might go as well. Still a lot to do.
I have never owned a BMW.2 -

First day I had it it was broken into at Charlton. Up until 1 am while it was repaired so I could drive to Gateick to go to Brussels for a meeting.
Invariably other drivers cut you up or try to race you. Or even threaten you.
Horrible rear wheel drive cars with heavy steering and heavier clutch.
BMW Buses Made in Workington is a suitable description.
There must have been an outbreak of small penises since I had one judging by the number on the roads now if that assertion is true.
Never been broken into, never been stolen, no one has cut me up or tried to race me or threaten me, light touch steering, beautiful clutch, never had anything go wrong ever.
Apart from that I agree with you.
Oh, and most commercial vehicles.
Apart from that you're spot on once again.
Apart from an awful American car most of those are sports cars . Not exactly high on most peoples agendas. Maybe a classic car but force everyday use ?
I can't remember a Ford Europe rear wheel drive since the Ford Escort Mk 2.
BMW are the main rear wheel drive manufacturer or were recently. Your list looks big but isn't compelling when you consider the models produced.
It's def been a while but I can honestly say, this is now seriously getting on my t*ts !2 -
Be happy with Maatsen, was critical of him at times last season but it’s naive to forget how young he is and he will improve from last season mo doubt.
Millar, not that fussed I must admit but if we have options in that position I’d welcome him in the squad.0 -
Do we need a total rebuild though? I'd say the nucleus of the squad is already there and it's just a question of bringing in sufficient quality to enhance the team.
Because there has been a scarcity of rumours or anything leaked by the ITK, some people seem to get the impression nothing is happening.
I'm sure Steve Gallen & co won't agree though!
Myself, I'm perfectly happy to leave the squad building to the professionals.
And if nothing gets leaked before signings are made - that's good, in means we are going about our business in a professional way.
7 -
What both Gallen and Adkins are saying is that our new squad won't be fully formed until the end of the transfer window on August 31. We will play the first half dozen games in August with a makeshift team, probably including fringe youth players. Then it will take time to gell the last signings into the team, we will not be hitting the ground running.
Things have changed since the Powell promotion year when we could tell from the first game we had a very good side.0 -
Is rumour-mongering better or worse than idle speculation? (BMW's run-flat tyres are the pits though!)0

Personally not bothered about re-signing Millar or Maatsen. Both flatter to deceive . Think we can do better5
-
I would be very happy to get both of these back into the team. The Famwoe situation is a bit weird though as I have been trying to keep an eye out for anything being said by either himself or Norwich but total silence. I'm hoping we are trying to sign the bloke and thats why there hasnt been a " I really enjoyed my time " speech from the player but thats more than likely me living in hope lol. It is strange nothing has been said though imo0

Article taken from the Eastern Daily press this morning.
There may be some Norwich City fans fretting about the wait for new signings ahead of the Premier League season – but they are in good company.
The Canaries are one of 14 teams in the Premier League yet to officially reveal a summer addition, with the transfer window having opened on Wednesday, June 9.

I'd doubt it very much. Surely, we learned that lesson after last season's experience ...... it eventually cost us promotion.
My take: the team will be assembled in time for the start of the season; both Adkins and Gallen have indicated that.
But, as happens each and every season, some players get made available by their existing clubs very late on in the transfer window.
And then there's the loan players, especially from Prem clubs ...... and they are told they are not included in that club's squad or plans,
(In the past players like Cullen & Beilik, for example). If any of these can improve us, we'd be foolish to let the opportunity pass us by.
Harking back yet again to Chris Powell's title winning side of 2011-12, players like Leon Cort and Yann Kermorgant were added after that season started: that didn't do us any harm, did it?
9 -
I haven't really read that so much as we're trying actively to get those two. I feel like Adkins was asked about them and said that he'd be happy to have them back on loan but it's not something being pursued. I'm not expecting to see them back, and I seem to remember we were paying quite a lot for Maatsen so might not be the best use of our budget if we can get a permanent player not on Chelsea wages in

I wouldn’t mind getting one of Millar or Maatsen back, getting both would be a bit underwhelming.
Why sign Liam Millar when there’s the likes of Harry Chapman available on a free? He did really well on a 6 month loan at Shrewsbury and is around the same age. It makes more sense to sign someone on a permanent than have your whole left side of the pitch loan players.Adkins knows what he’s doing, I just hope we don’t have a team reliant on loans and then another rebuild in the summer.2 -

Despite missing out on goal difference this is a better squad (when the season ended) than the one that got beaten by Shrewsbury. It didn't take a revolution to transform that. 2 or 3 shrewd signings and 2 or 3 quality loans.2
