  •  sure I flew to Manchester for less than a train fair a few years back.
Probably flight and train experts on here better than me but looking at some of the prices already seems a bit much

  • Stockport vs Bolton (BBC)
    Solihull Moors vs Wigan (ITV)

Are the First Round replays selected for TV coverage

Come on Altrincham, you can do it!! Can walk to the ground.

Just for you I will cheer on Altrincham in the replay but would you mind running to the ground as Walking is frowned upon under JJ* and despite strolling, meandering and watching and Listening to the birds  being brilliant and good for mindfulness, in a football contexts, running is the new walking at Cafc !

    * As demonstrated over 26 miles and 4 hours by Johnnie around the streets of London.
For the last home league game I arrived at London Bridge from Altrincham at 2.30. As it was a brilliant day and the birds were singing I decided to walk from London Bridge to North Greenwich along the Thames Path. Did it in 2.5 hours, 14.1 km at an average of 5.4 km/hr, where I met up with my daughter for a meal in Waggamumas.

Looking to go and see the Altrincham vs Gateshead replay next Tuesday, but tickets are not on sale yet. The Altrincham ground is pretty delapidated and they have some big fixtures coming up before Christmas. Possibly Charlton, but also Stockport and Wrexham. Various parts of the ground have failed Trafford's safety certificate, so for the next few games, including the replay there will be restricted numbers allowed in the ground while they do remedial work to get the ground safe.

Mate. Wear your Charlton coat, take a notebook and pen, and get your rocks off with everyone nudging each other thinking you’re a scout. Before you can say ‘pint of lager mate’ you’ll be wined and pied in t’boardroom.

I think we all new Charltons game would be on TV.

That'll knock a few hundred off the away attendance.
The magic of the fa cup.
  • What a shock, Salford made it!
If Man Utd get to the Final you can probably expect a linked club of theirs to be shown on TV at every round.
  • What a shock, Salford made it!
It's compulsory for TV companies to televise Man U cup games, and this is the next best thing!

With a broadcast fee of £60,000 per club, coupled with the prize fund payment of £34,000 and a place in the third round proper draw for winning teams.

Fee should cover free train travel, perhaps.

What are we moaning about now? Because I'm stuck. Lose 200 seats because its on TV, but you get a bigger fee than 200 tickets from ITV, unless you think we are taking 3000 to any away game any time soon ?

You can still travel to Gateshead if you like, I look forward to seeing the pictures.

I meant people saying the fact it's on TV will lower gate receipts. Just pointing out that the TV fee should cover it.

will be out getting fuelled up with friends on the IOW on the Friday night, not a good bit of scheduling for me.

Even if the game was Saturday 3pm, you'd need a private jet to get to Gateshead from the IoW to make the kickoff  :)

It'll sell out at Altrincham regardless of it being on the telly, Gateshead have never filled the International Stadium, so its a bit moot

Fuelled up? Normally that term is used for high alcohol consumption.🙂
  • Man U play Palace on the Sunday, so I imagine the police didn't want us playing in the Manchester area on the same day, if Altrincham go through

Yes, but I think he means that if it were on the Saturday he could watch it on TV, whereas on the Friday he'll be in a restaurant with friends.

Full set of league Fixtures on the Tuesday night (Ipswich at home) so for the players a Friday night game is not a bad outcome

Just had a look and Gateshead's average crowd is 900, so would imagine they'll struggle to get 4-5k for our game. Altrincham average 2350 in a 6k stadium so they should sell out.

Because I imagine some people wanted to go and now they can’t

If it’s altrincham then I’d have gone had it been on a Saturday. I can’t take the time off work to go on a Friday evening though.

If it’s Gateshead then it likely means a hotel stay now as well

Well at least you are closer than most Charlton fans to whoever we play in the next round

I’m moaning that fans aren’t being thought about ‘yet again’.
That we should just be happy to get the TV money & be done with it?
Youngsters like an away day. How many will not now go because they can’t have a night out after in a town/city nearby? It’s not just about you & I, it’s about keeping young fans interested in what was once a special tournament that has now been devalued by TV money, the EPL…….the list goes on.
