There's something a bit sad that you can get better warm up games playing against your own A side, than local opposition. And even then, I can't imagine the England A bowling attack is too threatening0

Bare in mind I'm a bit of a technophobe & watch tv via Sky on my living room tv......so no streaming on my phone or any other devices.
BT is well worth it imo even just for the footy, Cricket/ boxing/tennis etc are a brucie bonus for me.
Kids reminded me that I have Amazon Prime & I'm sure I've watched Champions League matches (from BT ?) via Prime. Can I also watch the Ashes this way. Had a quick look earlier & couldn't see any link or way to purchase BT Sport via Prime.0 -
Paine has pulled out completely now.
Probably makes them stronger to be honest.

Thats a real shame. The ideal situation was Cummins captain (and struggling with it) and Paine still selected out of some kind of loyalty to him. Weakens them on 2 fronts not that i felt Pains was that good a captain - or keeper for that matter.
I would bring Wade in. He has a decent test record with the bat and will benefit from being lower in the order as a keeper. Carey is also a good option though less of a "test type" player.
Suspect they will definitely squeeze Cam Green in as the allrounder now they don't have to have the specialist Captain at 7.
Shame as it will make them much stronger.
Will be interesting to see how Cummins deals with the captaincy. There is also the point that the issues with the squad and Langer not getting on the reports were that Paine was holding it all together. Hopefully it all falls apart now.2 -
I was going to put $1000 on a 5-0 Aussie win at 7-1 BUT the weather here is awful, apparently we are going to have a really wet December on the east coast of Australia and when it rains here it REALLY rains.
Very annoying as that was pretty much a guaranteed $7,000 win given how crap we are and we are running 0-1-9 in our last ten Tests here in Oz.
Captaining Australia at home is about as easy a job as you can have, especially when you have their current bowling attack, I'd be confident of leading them to a 5-0 win myself.0 -
Don’t like Wade at all, but if I was an Aussie I’d love him. Definitely has that old school Merv Hughes grit about him, doesn’t have much talent but can get runs through sheer force of will.
As has been said, makes the Aussies stronger I reckon. Would’ve preferred for all this to come out mid series to be honest! No doubt the British press had started sniffing about and the Aussie press decided to hit the self destruct button first.Cameron green is a top up and comer. If they can squeeze him in think Aussies are looking quite tasty.1 -

Golfie says 3-1 England4

Cummins is new Ozzie skipper, first bowler since Richie Benaud in the 1960s .. I suspect that Smith and Warner will have big says in what goes on on the field .. anything that detracts from Cummins the bowler is very welcome0

Putting allegiances to one side for a moment, some seven years after Phillip Hughes death, the video within this article will hurt anyone who has any feeling for the game itself as well as, of course, the family and friends of those who knew him

Classic India prepare an absolute raging bunsen that also has little to no bounce. Balls from the spinners going through at ankle height. Add in the excessive appealing on literally every delivery and I am so happy NZ held out and fair play to them.5

On a slightly different note, I did notice that the 2 batsmen who held out for the draw were called Patel & Ravindra. Not your usual kiwi names....😄0 -
Well folks, it is PISSING DOWN again here in Brisbane and the first day of England’s second (and last) warm up match will almost certainly be washed out - and the forecast is shocking for the rest of the week too.
The Aussies have their first warm up game in the ground next to my kids school starting today as well, so they won’t be playing either.
This has been the wettest start to a summer that I can ever remember from my twenty four years here.2 -

Twat runs down the middle of the pitch when he’s batting, onto the pitch when he’s bowling and then bowls coming across the non striking batsmen and completely blocking the umpires view. Then wonders why the umpire pulls him up?1 -
Meanwhile in Adelaide there has also been plenty of rain too but there was some play on the first day of the "Alternative Day/Night Test" - albeit the pitch has already been reported!Ormiston_Addick said:Well folks, it is PISSING DOWN again here in Brisbane and the first day of England’s second (and last) warm up match will almost certainly be washed out - and the forecast is shocking for the rest of the week too.

Seb and some of the DLCA boys will be flying to Melbourne for the Boxing Day Test. They will also be at the Adelaide Test where, rumour has it, some of the boys, including Jas, are going to be used as net bowlers for both England and Australia. Seb was somewhat disappointed to learn that the hand grenades he hasn't bowled since doing so as an 11 year old will not be required!

Addick Addict said:Yesterday Alex Carey hit 155 for Glenlg against Northern Districts in a game that went the whole way. Jas Singh of Kent returned very commendable figures for ND of 13-5-32-2 whereas on the winning side with Carey was another member of the DLCA, Josh Croom, who plays for Wiltshire and Hants 2s. Croom played a vital part in taking Glenlg home by just one wicket with 13 not out.
That innings by Carey has put him in the frame to take the gloves from Paine. Although facing messrs Anderson, Robinson, Broad etc might be more of a challenge.0 -

Aussies getting the excuses in early. I honestly don't think they have anything to worry about but wouldn't it be fantastic?0
