I imagine without even clicking the link the  threads on here would be very similar in the build up to our inevitable capitulations to Millwall.

As much as we might not like to admit it I think we're very similar clubs in terms of outlook and make up of fanbase to Palace ie a family club with a range of support across a spectrum from stone island clad Herberts to suburban middle class mummy's boys and all inbetween.

Aside from all the gimmicks and south London nonsense of course... although our rock star aspiring  owner is trying to bridge that cultural divide at an alarming rate of knots it would appear! :-)
I'd have a look if I were you mate. No Charlton fan would be trying to claim we'd be in the home end at the den for a start. Some of the comments look as though it's West Ham who drew Millwall, not Palace.

I’m always in the home stand when we play the scum. I go with family and as they say, blood is thicker...

Have the "ultras" tried to take the mickey anywhere ?  - serious question
Didn't they take a banner from some Leicester fans.  When no one was aroound obviously.

I know they got an escort to the ground from their pub from the Police last time or the time before when we played them.  I think it happens most games.
  • Quote from their forum :-

Home stands will be full of Palace, always is

    😂😂

I am sure @MillwallFan and @Big_Bad_World can enlighten us
Utter bollocks. I’ve not missed a Millwall v palace game in about 40 odd years and I’ve never known any of them to be in the home ends.

You’ll obviously get a few come along with their Millwall mates and sit on their hands, like we do when we play you lot, but as for the home ends being full of palace, never heard such nonsense in all my life.
You lot keeping quiet in the Charlton end? Hmmmm
Ha, yeah what I meant was whenever the three SE London clubs (well, two SE London clubs and palace) play each other you’ll always get mates tagging along with each other and going in the opponents end etc. a respectful silence should be kept, but granted, not everyone sticks to the rules 😆
Went to watch Millwall v QPR two seasons ago. Walked into the upper tier to be greeted with a hail of abuse. "What you doing here you Charlton XXXX." With half the stand now looking at me I said "I have come to support my second team" which caused even more abuse. Mates eh?

I didn’t go to the old Den, but I disagree with the suggestion that the current stadium isn’t intimidating. At least in 2021 terms, it definitely is one of the most hostile to visit - especially for a game like this.

And Millwall do have a knack of getting results against teams like this in the cup. Genuinely wouldn’t be surprised to see them turn Palace over.

Whatever you do - please send us some clips of the Ultras trying to take the mickey near the ground as I think it will give us all a laugh.
The stadium isn't especially intimidating, but the occasion still is. It's the surroundings, and the whole way you're shepherded back to the station (after being kept back)

It's well organised though, unlike other away games where as soon as you leave the stadium, home and away fans are free to "mingle"

Away stand at the den after 3000 palace fans test positive the day before the game

I hope it's moved to midday on Sunday, with freezing cold weather accompanied by hale and sleet. 0-0 bore draw, and Palace locked in for an hour after the game for their own safety.

For the replay, freezing cold weather accompanied by hale and sleet. Millwall locked in for an hour after the game for Palace's own safety. Heavy rain after the game, with major disruption across the transport network and chaos on the roads, giving everyone a nightmare journey home.

Obviously someone has to win. I hope it finishes 1-0 either way with an early goal and no excitement from extra-time or penalties. Reward for the winner is an away trip to Middlesbrough or Burnley.
    How about Hale & Pace?

I prefer to go in the home end at the Den when we play them if I am honest, the Millwall fans I know are good blokes and whilst not giving it large, no-one hides I am Charlton. I cant be arsed with being kept in after the game for an eternity (the 1-1 draw was the last time I used the away end). When very young my Grandad would take me to the Den one week the Valley the next though he made it clear Millwall were not our team.

That said, I suspect if, (and its a BIG if), we ever turn them over, the reception I get may be different, I hope they smash the Nigel's but laugh when they lose aside from that.

Its all very personal though, SG3 junior, despite knowing the same blokes all his life, despises Millwall as in properly dislikes, reserves another level of hatred for Jed Wallace and totally refuses to listen to Status Quo.

Got no affection for palace st all and of course find them as ridiculous as everybody else but still prefer that they win this - the quicker millwall are out out of the cup and out of reach of the play offs, the better things are
  • I think the spanners should allocate the wing block of the main stand nearest to the feathered ones to Charlton fans(free tickets of course), then we can both abuse the pricks.

Both clubs are chite miserable entities, but there is a certain amount of authenticity about Millwall whereas Crystal Palace are a plastic concocted confection of crap.

Jesus Christ, what’s with the scum love-in on this thread?! Want Millwall to lose every single game they play, regardless of who they’re playing.
It's not a love in. It's because some of our fans (me included) hate Palace more than Millwall.
I love our rivalry with Charlton and when we get one over on you (every time we play) it’s great. Palace though I just hold in complete contempt and would always support Charlton over those pricks if you was playing each other. Each to their own though I suppose and a lot of it comes down to personal experiences.

We played Palace a lot more than Millwall from the late 80’s onwards so a lot of fans will see them as the main rival.

Millwall are just lucky Nicky Bailey ensured we couldn’t embarrass them at Wembley in the play off final…..

Come on - not every time. It's been a while I'll grant you.

Can you imagine what that Playoff Final would have been like?

Sunderland was stressful enough, but I think that would have finished me off.

I imagine we would have lost quite badly as per normal.

A shit 0-0 with injuries to key players on both sides please. The same again in the replay, don't give a toss who wins on pens

Milwal are not a South London club.

Formed by Scots, they play in Scottish colours and have a Scottish badge. And Millwall is NORTH of the river

Been a professional club playing in SE London longer than Charlton have 😉

oh, the rampant lion doesn’t come from the Scottish connections. That’s a myth.
